In long 6 months ago, my lovely bride had a massive stroke. She's lucky to be here, but her mobility is still heavily impaired. She spent a month in IPR, which is available at only 5 places in the state. Coincidentally enough, there's a brand-new one a mile from our house, and she made a bunch of progress there. After that, they referred her for home health PT, OT, and speech therapy. She went from 15 sessions a week to about 4, and her progress slowed down. We found out about Swedish's program and signed her up. It took a couple months to get in, but she's off and running now. They help her a lot! She gets stretched some days in PT, some days she does strength and balance exercises. In OT, she does coordination exercises and works on getting control back over her left arm. They push her to the point of exhaustion and frustration regularly, but she keeps coming back for more. It's easier now than it was before the incident to frustrate and tire her, anyway, and she needs tens of thousands of reps to get her arm and leg back to being more functional. She has worked with different therapists depending on when they have appointments available. Everybody is smart and professional and motivating. Nobody can match the positivity and encouragement of the PTs and OTs she had in IPR, but those places will tend to draw in good talent. We do have a copay here, and home health was fully covered. It's worth the cost. Scheduling has to be done manually over the phone. Half of the desk staff is awesome, positive, and proactive. The other half is a mixed bag--y'know, the kind of people who think they're surrounded by idiots and never get enough credit. But on their good days, even they can be super helpful and even kinda pleasant. I'm glad we got in here, even if I'm not glad we needed it.

Luckily, I was…read morewearing a helmet (please do - geeze people, be safe!), but I unfortunately sprained both of my ankles and struck my palm on the ground. It was pretty bad! I started my sessions with Mari in late June, and she a great job of assessing my movement and pain points. She set me up with a really achievable regimen of exercises and self-massage, and after a few weeks my hand and neck are already significantly better! The ankles are a bit more complex, but there is improvement, and Mari has really well of talking things over with me to make adjustments to prevent pain and strengthen in the right places. In our most recent session, she also used Graston technique (tissue scraping with tools) on the various tendons around my ankles, and I was amazed by how it brought relief that was significant, immediate, and lasting. Total wizardry!! Overall, I've loved working with Mari and appreciate her kindness and willingness to adjust her approach, and also talking over payment with me. That's what happened to me. We didn't want to do the expensive phone intake as we were supposed to be in Seattle and thought in person in take would be better. We were not allowed to do this. We kept explaining we preferred to be at the apt in person and we were told out of state or town patients aren't allowed to do in person apt.'s. That we must do over the phone FIRST- even if we are in town!! I don't see why that is mandatory if the patient is in town for other reasons and can come in person on the day you want to do a phone apt. If you care about kids gravely Ill with Lyme disease and severely affected then how can you with good conscious turn parents away for the simple reason that they cancelled and put on hold their apt for another day until they could get up all the money needed to do the phone apt plus the intake in person. $$$ matters more than kids. I fully expect their front desk receptionist to smear me, as she had from day 1 said to me perhaps this isn't the place for you when I explained my situation of not wanting to do a phone apt. That alone speaks volumes and should of shown me they were already turning me away, apparently the fri t office did not line my questioning their procedures and asking to come in person rather do a phone intake which BTW isn't even considered legal if a Dr hasn't seen you in person FIRST.

His surgical skills are outstanding and without question was the most recommended. I had no difficulty at all post op. My surgery was done at Proliance Surgical Center and their staff are the best (not surprised) and Dr. Christal's support staff at the Proliance Orthopedic Center in Edmonds were responsive, friendly and very efficient (again, not surprised). Another very important issue is the thoroughness with which Dr. Christal prepares his patients for surgery. He builds into the process the conscientious attention to detail and in particular his instructions regarding limiting the chance of infection by starting "decolonization" five days before surgery and setting PT goals early were appreciated. His pain management is stellar and I recovered with lightening speed. [My physical therapy was handled by Evergreen Home Health, so see also their yelp review.] I would recommend Dr. Christal to anyone seeking knee surgery. A sudden mobility issue happened back on 2/17/26. Working with my primary care facility and…read morephysician at Pacific Medical Center - Shoreline, I was referred to, had Xrays completed and evaluated at Swedish Edmonds Urgent Care that evening. The PA-C seen referred me to Edmonds Orthopedic Center (affiliated with Proliance Surgeons), located also at the Swedish Edmonds medical campus. My initial evaluation was with Michael Lee, MD on 2/23/26 where it was determined a MRI was needed to make a definitive diagnosis. This was completed at an affiliate site, North Puget Sound MRI in Mountlake Terrace on 3/6/26. My MRI results and next steps were addressed again with another appointment with Dr. Lee on 3/12/26. The MRI brought to light my current situation and potential future issues to be made aware of. I also received a cortisone steroid shot to help reduce discomfort and inflammation at this visit. My recovery is still ongoing, just thankful no physical therapy and/or surgical intervention are needed at this time. Yes, one has to deal with the wait (blame the insurance and medical care system in the US). Overall, I have been pleased with the professional care provided without the hassles of having to see similar organizations in downtown Seattle. It is much more accessible as a Shoreline resident to be seen at northend sites in Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace. My interactions via phone, online, and onsite have been favorable. Pro tips: Understand that time is needed to have referrals reviewed and approved by one's insurance coverage, especially if there were any policy changes. This does affect scheduling and copays. Exercise your patience, do your due diligence to follow up, ask questions and for clarity to advocate for the best outcome for your care. Give yourself extra time to locate parking, whether on the adjacent street, main parking lot, or parking garage whether you are dropped off or driving yourself. It does get congested and not fun with limited mobility and inclement weather. The common areas like lobby, elevators, and waiting areas are busy so be proactive to wear a mask and/or use hand sanitizer. Complete any online check-in requests prior to your actual onsite appointment. This will streamline your check-in process. Copays can be paid ahead or at the check-in counter. After two miscarriages in a row in the span of 6 months, I turned to acupuncture. I worked with another provider but nothing seemed to work and I lost all hope. In a moment of clarity I reached out to Teresa and made an appointment. During my hour and a half initial meeting we talked about my medical history and I could tell she cared. I didn't feel rushed, and it felt thorough and I felt listened to. During the actual procedure, I should preface with the knowledge that my body is highly receptive to acupuncture, and tuning forks specifically, but during my first appointment I could feel my body purging me of all the negative thoughts about never becoming pregnant -- I cried until I just stopped and a sense of calm and well being came over me. After this appointment I went on a family vacation, came back, saw Teresa again, and then the cravings for potato chips started.
