My grandma & I recently bought our own home, but we decided to remodeling it since we didn't liked its style. We planned to break a load bearing wall and an other on load bearing wall, making a bigger opening in the wall, removing popcorn ceiling through out, complete bathroom remodel, removing tile carpet and placing LVP flooring throughout, complete kitchen remodel and island addition, new paint throughout, new fireplace, new ac unit, recessed lighting... I think that was ot... ! I lined up a few companies/contractors to get bid. I ended up in 6 bids. Tommy (Manager) at Concept Remodels was my last consultation on a Thursday morning. When I inquired him about the deadline, he paused and said officially 10 weeks in the record but would try to get it accomplished in 7 weeks. I didn't believe that it would happen ! This is too much work ! Not 2 hours later he messaged the very detailed, itemized bid and said he could start as soon as Friday, the next day. The contract stimulated progress payments, which was extremely helpful on the wallet considering this was an enormous project. After deciding all the options with my grandma i decided to pull the trigger with Concept Remodel. As promised, Tommy (Manager) and team showed up bright and early on the Friday morning 2/15/2023 start demo. Demo was completed by day 2 or day 3! By day 4 they were installing the beam where the load bearing wall was. I was fully impressed by their efficiency and dedication to get everything done so quickly. My sisters & step mom both live in the same neighborhood, so I would frequently stop by just to see what the team was working on . None of is believed how quickly everything progressed. We would drive by at 6 or seven pm and someone was still working on the house! I had come on weekends and someone was always working there or cleaning or something. My step mom would go for the walks in the neighborhood and text me that there was still someone in the house at 8 pm! The work ethic of the employees of CRs blew me away. I specially want to commend Mark (who is like Tommy's right hand man with everything) , Jack (who did paint touch ups and patch works) & Rahul (who is a master tiler) for their amazing work on my house. It didn't go unnoticed! I met with Tommy at least every week during the first month, since there were many decisions to be made and progress payments were coming up. Though I didn't always see him on site ( we were not living in the space so I would not always be there when he showed up) , he was always available by phone. Throughout this project, there was only one time when he didn't respond me right away, and it was only a three hour delay because his phone was broken. When it comes to big and expensive projects such as this, communication is key and Tommy never let me down. There were a few instances where I needed to clarify some things or raised concerns, but he was always extremely helpful while heeding my concerns and resolving small problems that arose. I never felt like I was being swindled or cheated. This was my first time renovating anything, and it was a large undertaking. He knew this, and reassured me that he would walk me through everything and tell me everything I needed to purchase. I had no idea what to expect, and I realize there were many times when I could have been taken advantage of for my naivety. I truly never felt pressured to spend more than what was alotted in the budget. Tommy even gave me advice on how to save money. I trusted him and I was not disappointed! Cut to Day 48: 4/7/2023. Concept Remodels got the job done in 7 WEEKS! I still can't believe all that work was done in 7 weeks. I thought for sure this project would be delayed by at least a month after our contracted end date of 4/30/2023. I was gladly proven wrong!!! Tommy delivered and the result is astounding. I LOVE my house. It is exactly how I envisioned it. CRs truly made my vision a reality. Total cost? 6K over budget, which we completely agreed upon and there were no surprises. We moved in on Monday and it is just a dream come true! I will say, there have been a few small issues that were missed, but I contacted Tommy and he immediately rectified the situation. Something also struck me when I spoke to him earlier today. He said, "I guarantee my work for the entire time you live in that house. If there is ever an issue, please call me and I'll take care of it." A contractor who proudly stands by his work, long after the check has been cashed, is a diamond in the rough. Overall, we would not recommend or use Concept Remodels again. We did a full kitchen and bathroom remodel, with no fixture relocation on either area. So basically just a tear down in and facelift. We signed the contract in Feb of 2023. Permits got approved in the beginning of March and demo/work began 3rd week of March. At first everything seemed to go well, but shortly into the project, it became a big headache. Some of the problems we encountered: - Multiple failed inspections with the city, due to lack of basic communication and incompetence. This is very frustrating as it delayed our project multiple times. The lack of communication stemmed from as simple as weatherproofing windows, electrical panels, stucco, each resulting in a separate failure. - When we first interviewed Concept Remodels, they said they work with crews that have worked with them for a long time so we can trust the quality of the work. However, the crew that was assigned to us have only worked with Concept Remodels for a short time. That same crew did not know how to do waterproofing of our shower so they had to be let go and a different crew came on board. This caused delays bc that new crew had to demo everything the old crew did. - The lack of cleanliness on the worksite post work day was a big complaint. We had to constantly remind the crew to clean up. After a while we would expect that Concept Remodels would take the lead and continue to remind the crew. Attempts were made but lackluster at best. There was also some damage done to our floors and dinner table, an annoyance no doubt, to which Concept Remodels did reimburse us for the damages. - We specifically told the tile guy to use a certain grout color and brand and when he did our grout, he decided to use a cheaper grout and had the nerve to tell us that the grout he chose was better. Again, we the client told him what we wanted and he did not do that. - Lack of attention to detail and careless work. Quality seems like a handy man did the work. If looking at completed project, everything looks good. However, close up shows paint job not done nicely, sloppy patchwork, cheap materials (cabinets) were used. Also, our toilet overflowed during construction. When we called a plumber, they showed pictures of bathroom tile from demo in toilet pipe (lack of care when demo). Overall craftsmanship was not up to a certain par with the amount of money that was paid. We feel that the quality would have been the same had we sourced our work to a handy man, doing so we would have saved a lot of money. Now we did address our problems with Concept Remodels during the time of construction and yes, they worked with us and tried to remedy the problems, but overall we were not satisfied with the work that was provided. We believe this project took too long based on how simple it should have been. Understandably things happen during construction that delays projects, but we feel that many of the delays were avoidable and certainly it happened more than once. Bottom line is that we do like our new kitchen and bathroom, but the length it took to get to this level of quality is/was not worth the loss of summer for me and my family. read more

July 2022: After interviewing 6-7 contractors for a kitchen remodel job at my house in Great Park Neighborhoods i met Russel and knew right away that i wanted to work with him. He was the only contractor who wasn't pushy, sales-y, and he didn't try to put me on the spot to sign right there and then. We talked about what I wanted and he executed it perfectly. There were some minor hiccups (as there are in any construction job) but Russel handled them professionally and quickly. The whole job was done on schedule and on-budget. I would work with him and his team again in a heartbeat and am already planning to hire him for a bathroom remodel job as well.
