15 years ago I had done a full remodel and built out the upstairs bathroom to include a jetted tub. Recently, after using the tub (LOTS of weight), the entire side of the room began popping and creaking. I knew enough about construction and engineering to seek professional input and reached out to Alpha Structural. This company is the absolute best! They took on a job at my house that over two dozen other contractors had looked at and could not figure out. My garage would flood when it rained heavily. The water was seeping/bubbling up through the concrete floor. Unfortunately,I spent a total of 20K on two other contractors before hiring Alpha. The work done by the first two contractors failed completely. When Damien from Alpha Structural initially came over, I knew I was in good hands right away. I bought a house that is 96 years old. For a house this age, it is in very good condition. It just needs some TLC to reach its full potential. One issue, however, was that there was differential settling. This is where Alpha Structural comes in. I feel the entire process went well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ken came out to survey the situation. I've met with Ken from Alpha Structural twice. Both times, he's been knowledgeable, straightforward, and most importantly, honest. He's really a stand-up guy. Most recently, we hired Alpha Structural to repair and reinforce a wall that had been significantly weakened by a different contractor. This was a load-bearing wall over our foundation and it began showing early warning signs of potential collapse after the other contractor cut through several 2x4s which compromised the integrity of the wall by forcing the weight onto the few remaining outer studs. Ken came out to see the wall, told me what he thought the wall would need, had another engineer formalize the plans later that day, and he prioritized the repair as an emergency for us so we would get priority on the schedule. The turnaround from when we paid the deposit to the job start was about 5 days, and they finished the job a day ahead of schedule. The job site manager, Oscar, was great as well. He even visited the following day to check on things and called to check in with me. Something that stood out to me about Alpha Structural was their attention to detail and doing every aspect of the job *right*, rather than the easy/simple way. read more

We needed to repair an aging patio cover - but one that we like very much. Several people came to estimate repairs, and most said it could not be repaired, it would have to be completely rebuilt - at around $15 - 20 thousand dollars. When Alpha showed up, they said they could fix it two days - that they did work like this all the time, and they gave us a detailed estimate. Oscar and his crew - David and Marco, showed up and did a wonderful job in every way. They were prompt, efficient, hard working, and cleaned up before they left our yard. And, in two days, they finished the work, put all our patio furniture back where it was before they started and we just couldn't be happier! We have the patio cover we love, and no permits or demolition needed - at about a third of the cost of a new one. I can't thank them enough, highly recommend them. read more

I initially called Alpha Structural based on their reviews because my hill was sliding down. Ken came out and assessed the situation. He was friendly, funny, and most importantly, he was honest. He got back to me quickly with a quote for 240 linear feet of pipe and board installed in 3 rows of 80 feet each. After I agreed, Oscar, the project supervisor, contacted me ahead of time to introduce himself and tell me what to expect and when to expect it as he walked me through the project timeline. I typically do not provide reviews; however, I make an exception when a company does a phenomenal job going beyond expectations. When that happens, I certainly take the time to put a well-deserved review for them, which is the case for Alpha Structural. What makes Alpha Structural different especially for a construction type firm is their goal is to make sure that the customer is fully satisfied and will do their utmost to meet that. They certainly accomplished that with a steel retrofit of a structural beam that they designed and constructed (aka Design- Build) which supports an upstairs bedroom above my 3-car garage. The existing wood structural beam had developed a horizontal crack throughout its length, causing the bedroom door to become sticky to open and close which was a sign to me that there was a compromise to the structure (and obviously with seeing this beam cracked right in the middle). The Structural Accessor, Ken, re-evaluated the initial design and provided a lower cost estimate, saving me approximately couple of thousands of dollars. He is quite knowledgeable with many aspects of this type of construction and other issues that was mitigated by Ken's knowledge and expertise. The Superintendent, Oscar, was great to work with and very customer service oriented, providing me assurances, describing was expected, the schedule, timely arrival of the crew and material delivery- which all came to fruition. I want to also recognize the two-man crew that executed the installation, encompassing of Dave, the crew Foreman and his Labor Assistant, Marco, on their work ethic, professionalism, communication on progress of the job and follow through, even for Dave explaining how to maintain the bolt tightness due to metal and wood contracting and expanding throughout its life due to humidity and temperature. Dave by the way demonstrated his many years of experience and his pride in his profession to ensure the job was done right. Marco worked diligently and was thorough in all aspects of the work. In conclusion - I would absolutely, highly recommend Alpha Structural which will ensure a job well done, a design you can trust (PE stamped structural drawing), and full satisfaction of the work. Why take a risk with an unproven contractor with no experience in structural remediation, I certainly would not - use Alpha Structural eliminate your risks on your investment whether it's for your home or business. read more

I had Alpha Structural engineer and construct a soft-story seismic retrofit to my 2-story single family home. Their 30 years of experience showed in how effectively they dealt with challenges like discovering that the existing foundations and framing of my 45 year old home didn't match the plans that the original builder had filed with the County. Their work crews, with 20+ years of experience, clearly knew about placement of temporary supports, careful excavation, framing modifications, and installation of the rebar, concrete, and pre-fabricated "Strong Wall" panels, bolts and brackets. All that was left for me was to reinstall the drywall. Quality work throughout! After several false starts with other companies trying to find a solution to water pooling under my garage slab and other outside drain problems, I found Alpha Structural. As hillside experts, they understood my problem and installed a french drain and new drain pipes, but didn't do more than was necessary.
