Fabulous! I picked up my Oxblood Imperial leather COAT that is 40 years old now. He gave it a face lift by taking it from maxi to just above the knee. The workmanship is impeccable! He put at least another 20 years of life into my leather coat! He also repaired the lining and replaced all the buttons! The value to me was getting to wear it in a new way. If you have leather, he has the chops, the creativity, and expertise! I cannot recommend them enough. Thier inventory of the best name brand shoes and boots, unique, smart looks and comfort.. Loyal customer lost because of treatment received. They took my $ and did not fix it & the cobbler did not do my shoes, the front desk guy did them wrong & then they wanted double pay to do the job: I took my shoes there for a tiny hole (half an eraser head size on sneaker fabric). I was told a patch would be ironed onto the inside and it would be permanently sealed shut to look new. They charged me $30 to do this with a black patch and said the shoe cobbler/specialist would do it, and we talked about him for a bit because he had done shoes of my family in the past well & had even sewn holes like this one before (but this one very small). My family and I had hoped to say hi to him while we were there but the front desk guy would not go get him to even let him know. When I picked up my shoes, I grabbed them and I walked to the car & immediately brought them back inside because I noticed a white patch inside poking thru the black shoe noticeably bunched up on the inside. I am not suree why but the hole was bigger than when I had dropped them off so it really showed thru. Not okay. These are expensive special edition shoes I can't replace. The guy at the front desk told me he did it himself and it would be fine and sealed permanent but if it bugged me to just color it with a permanent sharpie marker, but to go home and just try it out because it would be fine. When I got home, I tried on the shoes and the "permanent" patch came right off! Concept Shoe Repair had closed so I called the next business day. I was told I could bring it back to pay $30 more dollars to replace the patch they put on wrong & didn't work for them to redo it right! Otherwise, he said my only other options was that I could pay them $20 more dollars to buy a patch from them and fix it myself! I am NOT paying $50-60 total for a 1/4 inch hole to be patched (it was 1/8 big when I dropped my shoes with them) just to wait another week hoping this time it will be done right! I have taken lots of shoes to them in the past 12 plus years but their poor customer service just lost a loyal customer. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. Please check out other shops in Saint Louis, like Cobblestone Shoe Repair. Rude, rude, rude! I've used this place once before and the sole protectors were not cut properly in which I had to fix myself at home. Not experienced in high end designer wear. This time no device was performed due to the behavior of the owner. Husband brought in a pair of shoes for me to be repaired. Yes, there was a bit of confusion between us as to the price and he had to go back twice after dropping the shoes off to get clarification. Husband informed me that he was extremely rude to him upon arrival and I instructed him to get the shoes back and we will take business somewhere else. Owner then proceeded to say "well next time I'll charge you double" gave attitude towards him. Yes, there was a mixup but that was no excuse to treat a paying customer this way. read more

I have been a customer of this place for close to 15 years, maybe even closer to 20 years? I have bought an Alden pair of Wing tips that they keep looking great. I can't count the number of times they have put new soles on these shoes. Took them to the new location, same owners and same great service. They are putting a new type of sole on it. I also bought a new pair of custom made shoes. The options were incredible. There were no less than 6 different measurements taken for my pair of shoes. Keep in mind this is not some cheap pair of shoes, but they are an incredible value for your money! read more

This is by far the best shoe repair operation in the Metro East. Look no further. I have had all my shoes repaired there. Taps installed. Belts shortened (they can't lengthen them, unfortunately). They sell top-notch shoes like the Alden brand. The pair of Aldens I purchased maybe ten years ago are still going strong and look great. Don't buy Kiwi brand polish. Instead look at the high-quality polishes they sell at Concept. They selll other excellent shoes and they stock Birkenstocks! Everything brought in is logged on a computer system and you get a receipt telling you they are done. You can even get an e-mail telling you your leather item is ready for pick-up. read more

I only went in to get a pair of shoes polished to test this place out, since it's on my way to work. I'd describe this business as reasonable in every way--reasonable location, reasonable price, reasonable quality of work. I think I paid $8 for the shoe polishing. However, I prefer a near-mirror shine to my shoes, and so I'll probably stick to doing it at home. If you want nice-looking shoes that are clean but aren't particular about how shiny your shoes are and you don't want to spend time polishing them yourself, this place would be good. The turnaround was just one day, which was good, and the guy at the counter was friendly. read more

Bottom line if you value your fine leather goods don't take them here. I took in my fossil purse. Its a very expensive purse. My only expensive purse and I value it. I took it in for a zipper repair and reconditioning of leather. It was suppose to be done in a week and then another week and then another week. Each time they told me to come in they would put me off again with smart alec jokes. Finally a month later it was done. They sewed the rip in the zipper, with threads all rubbing the zipper you couldn't get it open with out it catching. I complained that the zipper didn't work right the man rubbed the zipper with the tip of a pencil where the bad sewing job was catching. "look all better now" the guy says. You got to be kidding me! Zipper still doesn't open right eventually it's gonna rip again with some more wear. The color they applied wasn't even applied evenly and the purse doesn't even feel nice anymore. This is a $200 purse something I saved for and they ruined it. Charged me $85 Don't go here! read more

I have used Concept for both purchase and repairs. I was ecstatic that they sell Thorogood boots (American and Union made) which are in my well worn opinion, the best in the world. I only wish they were able to carry more styles in stock, but I understand small business. Randy is very knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk with. I ordered a pair of boots I wanted but did not have in stock and he kept me well informed when they were a couple days late due to cut off ( which he was upfront about the possibility). I will be taking my other Thorogood's in the next week to be freshened up. This is a perfect example of why small businesses are the best to deal with. I will refer everyone I know. read more
