Dishonest and completely disorganized BEWARE! Horrible service, completely disorganized and neglectful of their customers belongings. I dropped of a beautiful antique leather briefcase and they said they couldn't find it weeks after I dropped it off. HowTF do you lose a briefcase in a shoe shop? Then they said they thought it had been taken off premise. Then they stopper returning calls. Losing items seems to be a pattern for this place. Makes you wonder if they're not finding a more lucrative avenue to profit from their customers belongings other than the fee that they would get for repairing them and returning them to you. read more

Update Nov '14 - Decided to give this place a 2nd try. I dropped my shoes off on a Thursday afternoon and was told they would be ready on Tuesday. $15 to replace the bottom of my heels - little pricey if you ask me. But I hesitantly added them to the mound of shoes in front of me thinking they would be lost forever. Came back Tuesday during "coffee run" time again...waited at least 15 minutes before the shoe shine guy felt bad for me & started digging around for my shoes. Found them, paid and walked out. I think this was my last time giving this guy a chance. So I should have run as soon as I stepped through the door. *See pictures that I added* I was hoping to get a pair of boots fixed that I wear when I work those 10+ hour days. I've had them for years and wear them at least twice a week. There were holes in the soles of the shoe and I was literally walking on the plastic studs of the heels, so I figured nobody could make them any worse. After browsing numerous of Yelp reviews I decided on the Broadway Shoe Repair to fix my pitiful shoes. I dropped them off the Tuesday during the week of Thanksgiving. I explained (or so I thought) to the man that I wanted the soles and heels repaired. He told me it wouldn't be a problem, would cost $15 and they would be ready in a week, circled Tuesday on my ticket & handed it to me. As he added my boots to the mountain of mix matched shoes on the counter I had a feeling I would never see them again. A week later I stopped back in the shop on my way into work hopeful I would at least get 1 shoe back if not both. I walked in the shoe shine man greeted me. When he found out that I was there to pick up shoes he told me the repair man ran out for coffee but should be right back. So I grabbed a seat in the corner surrounded by shoes and made small talk....for 30 minutes! The Shoe Shiner kept telling me he should be on his way back but I told him 30 minutes was long enough and I'd be back tomorrow. Came back the next day hoping I didn't come during "coffee run" time again. Thankfully the repair man was there and when I handed him my ticket he pulled out my shoes from the bottom of the pile of other shoes on the counter AND THEY WERENT FIXED OR EVEN TOUCHED since I left them last week! I don't hide facial expressions well so I'm sure he could tell I was pissed so he told me to come back and he'd have them by the end of the day. I didn't make it back that day so on my third day of visiting this shoe shop before work my shoes were finally ready! He only charged me $10 instead of $15 but only my heels were fixed I still had the same holes in the soles :( Not ruling this place out all together. Will give them another chance when I need another pair of shoes fixed. read more

I'll admit that I don't get my shoes fixed often but most recently I did at Broadway Shoe Repair and it was great. The gentleman (owner?) in the shop saw immediately what my problem was, the soles of both shoes were very worn down. He quickly explained what he would do to make my favorite pair like new again. When I told him that I needed it done quickly he was very accommodating and when I called three days later to check in, the shoes were waiting to be picked up, even before the time we had agreed on. If I lived in St. Louis this is where I would go for all of my shoe fixing and polishing needs. read more

You just want to sit down with these guys and chat all day long. IF Your shoes have issues, or get mangled by a dog (like mine did)? these fabulous, and crafty gentleman can fix them for you!!!!!!!!!! My husband dropped off my boots on Monday and was told they would be ready Thursday. I was hoping they were going to be re- soled... Thursday came around and my husband was told they weren't ready. Friday they were ready and my husband picked them up. $40 for glue. I could have glued them back together myself for $4. And they still have holes in the soles. I have been to this place a few times, primarily to resole dress shoes, and have never been disappointed! This is a no nonsense kind of place in the heart of downtown STL. If Tony La Russa or Dusty Baker opened a shoe repair shop, it would look like this place. You will see shoes stacked high and hear Motown music playing from an old boombox. They charge a fair price (half of what Allen Edmonds would charge) and treat everyone well. This place is the real deal! read more

I love this guy. I've been looking for years for a shoe repair shop that has fair prices, cheerful service, and gets the job done on time. Not an easy find, unfortunately. But when I started working downtown, I gave this hole-in-the-wall shop a try. And it's great. The shop may be a bit ratty and disorganized, but look beyond that. I was in STL for work when it started snowing and I realized the soles of my favorite boots were so warm down they had holes in them. I called this place up as it was near my hotel and he said he could have then done for me the next day. Super friendly and interesting owner. He's been in the same shop for like 40 years. He did an amazing job, and even gave them an amazing shine job on the house. I highly recommend this place. read more

I went into this shop to have a purse strap fixed. I spoke with the owner and he asure me that he could repair my purse and told me to come back in two days, went back on the third day of my first visit and my purse was not fixed, stated that he had to send it to a different shop to be sewn, came back in week got my purse, should have known something was not right when he tried to put it in a bag with me looking at it. the next when I carry my purse strap broke again.....DON NOT GO THERE THEY LIE read more

Horrible service! Junky and nasty environment! They had me waiting outside, cause they didn't open on time. Took his time even when he finally opened the door for service, spent another 10 minutes so he can change clothes. I dropped my shoes off a week ago and was told to come get them today. I get there the guy says, "oh, I know who you are!" I couldn't get to your shoes!" I was so upset and disappointed. He was very nonchalant and non caring in the fact he hadn't did my shoes. This place is such a gem! The zipper on my boots broke and everywhere else was quoting me over twice as much as I ended up paying at Broadway Shoe Repair. They did a fantastic job, not to mention that the people that work there are really sweet-- great costumer service! They also shined my boots so well that it looks like I have a whole new pair of shoes. And rescued a pair of boots that were so worn thin they had a small hole in the bottom. They replaced the whole bottom, glued the sides, and polished them to cover up some pretty serious wear and tear. Can't speak highly enough of this place! read more

My wife and I were visiting St Louis an while walking around downtown her sole started coming loose. We stopped in and he fixed it on the spot. He wasn't even going to charge. After reading the (mostly) glowing reviews of Broadway Shoe Repair, I had pretty high expectations for this place and man, was I sorely disappointed... I took in a pair of my favorite boots to have the zipper in the back replaced because the zipper had separated from the leather. The gentleman who fixes the shoe told me he could fix the zipper, no problem and that it would take 2 weeks. I wasn't in a rush to get them back, so no problems there. I went to pick them up yesterday and wow - I have no words on how absolutely terrible the workmanship was on my boots. The stitching was crooked.. (in fact, I even asked him if he did it by hand because it did not look like a machine did it). He cut into the leather and it was all crooked and even fraying on the sides. The tops of the boots do not line up and they don't even stand up straight anymore. They are ruined. I pointed all these flaws out to him, and he didn't really give me a reason why it was so poorly done. I personally would have appreciated it more if he would have told me from the beginning that he wouldn't be able to do it or he wouldn't be able to do it well rather than completely ruin my boots. He did offer to re-do them but honestly I was afraid for him to touch them one more time. He was going to charge me $25, but after seeing my disappointment, he allowed me to take them without pay. I did give this place 2 stars because the owner of the store does seem like a very nice man, and ultimately gave me my boots back without pay. Perhaps if you have a pair of shoes that you need a simple / basic work done to it, he is just fine, but for any detailed, high level and high quality work, i would NOT recommend this place. read more
