I have deemed Craig the official plastic surgeon of Cobblers because he's the only person I know that can transform a boot from utter shambles and make it look almost brand new. I recently got these boots and they've now turned into my favorite pair. Over the holidays, I went to a bar and my heel got stuck in the vent. Not once but twice in the same night! Suffice to say, the heels were wrecked! I already knew I would need the bottom repaired but wasn't sure if anything could be done about the scuffs on the heel since I've never been able to have them repaired before. I usually take them to the cobbler on Olive, but after the reading the reviews for this location and people commenting on him restoring the part of the heel I needed, I decided to give them a shot. Upon walking in, I noticed it had a similar layout to the one in Creve Coeur except it's bigger. They have a ton of various items from boot inserts, shoe stretchers, polish, and etc. Craig came out and asked how he could help. I explained that these were my favorite pair of boots and asked about getting the heel fixed. He said he could take care of it no problem, but then took it a step further and mentioned how he could probably clean the heel up as well! I was excited and intrigued, especially since no one has ever been able to do it before. He quoted me at $25.00 (paid upfront), told me what the service would entail, gave me my receipt, and said I could pick it up Tuesday. So Tuesday came and I went to pick them up. When he handed them to me, I was in utter shock. Not only did he fix the heel BUT he managed to repair the leather on the heel and eliminate the scuffs, tears, and stains. I thanked him profusely because I was so happy with what he had done. Being the humble guy he is, he said it wasn't a big deal and insists he could have done a better job. Craig literally brought my boots back to life and did it in record time! Additionally, I have the utmost respect for him since he works alone! I can't wait to have him work on more heels and boots. I came to this shoe repair spot due to the weight of the Yelp reviews. I brought in several pairs of shoes that needed various repairs and a leather bag that had faded badly. None of the shoes were terribly high-end but I was willing to spend a couple bucks to extend their lives a little longer and the worker also recommended shoe inserts that would help the fit for another pair without going through a more costly repair. The leather bag was going to cost more than I wanted to spend but he recommended a leather dye spray and conditioner and he even found a great color match. Greg is absolutely horrible. About a year ago I had some heels repaired they were repaired nicely . I recently dropped off a pair of shoes and some boots to be polished. He complained about no help and working alone. I totally get it! It is really hard to find help during these Covid times. Greg is a very angry overworked little man. Greg pretty much took my boots and shoes and said," he could not have them back by the end of the week."I said, "well that's okay. He then replied with an Altitude , "I will have them back by Friday." He gave me no receipt and said I didn't need one. Friday came and I picked them up and he was upset I didn't have the receipt. Well I thought everyone has a bad day. I am going to give him another try. I take a different pair of boots this time. He again gives me no receipt when I go to pick them up he tells me I didn't pay. I said, oh yes I did then I look on my phone and find the transaction on my bank statement. He walks away saying I didn't pay. I told him I do not lie. This Greg has a God Awful Customers Service. Greg if you are this miserable retire and get a life that makes you happy! I Love People and most people are kind to me. One other thing with Covid, I called to see what time he closes. I needed to stretch a pair of new ankle boots that fit when I tried them on but upon wearing them for an entire evening, got oh-too snug, and my feet went numb. Figured I'd buy those stretcher things and do the job at home. The guy asked a few questions and suggested -- since I just had one pair of shoes to stretch -- that I bring in the boots for them to stretch for $15, rather than paying $35 for a set of stretchers.
