We spent two days in Cape Town with organized dinners, tours and wine tasting. We transferred to private reserves and lodges managed by "and Beyond" and spent 12 days at three different reserves and lodges on wonderful "game drives" where we saw all the wild animals we went to Africa to see, up close and personal. The lodges and food were great and our whole experience was managed by the &Beyond teams as arranged by John. It was a great experience!

My…read morewife and I usually book travel ourselves, but for a big family trip with my parents, we ended up working with San Simeon Travel. They are AWFUL. Given the choice to book travel myself and cut off my pinky finger or work with these guys again, goodbye pinky finger. Whenever I have a question, I get snotty and argumentative answers from Alex. I get tons of calls from them asking for information they could have covered in one call. Maybe we got off on the wrong foot when they wanted to book my flights at a higher cost than I could find them online and I decided I'd rather book myself and pay less. But ever since then every conversation feels like a battle with someone who thinks they are too good for me, as opposed to a helpful call with a professional. They also told me that I couldn't take a flight home that left before noon because I wouldn't be able to get there from our cruise. So I called the cruise to confirm, and they said that I should be able to take any flight after 10am. So the travel agency was programming in an extra two hours of sitting in an airport. Honestly, theses guys are making everything worse, not better. I would pay more to NOT have to deal with this company ever again.

Our tour guide was an engaging storyteller and helped us imagine what life might have been like during the castle's heydey. The views are exquisite and that includes the architecture and artwork indoors. As documented in previous posts, the bathrooms are under renovation so you have to use porta potties outside the center. You cannot bring any food or drink on the bus or walking tour other than bottled water so be prepared to eat before or after your visit. My daughter was so impressed she would like to return for different tours.

People in visitor center were very nice and friendly. They were very helpful in explaining how the tours work and what to expect. This castle has a gift shop too. Store employees were very nice and friendly. They have really nice merchandises to purchase and take home as souvenirs. I would highly recommend visiting the pool and taking pictures. It is very beautiful and out of this world. I agree with other reviewers California State has to do better job in providing restroom to the visitors. Parking is free and there is plenty of parking spaces.

What an adorable place to stay for a weekend trip to Paso…read more The Farmhouse is a newly renovated motel. While the word motel has certain perceptions attached to it, farmhouse is in actuality a bright, modern, and very aesthetically pleasing hotel with wonderful amenities. Prices can be average to above average depending on the time of the year, but we were able to use some credit card points to save even further. I'd say the stay is worth the baseline price, though. We got the standard king bed room. Each room has its own little patio, and a shared fire pit nearby. The room was spacious, clean, and the color palate is a dream. The bathroom amenities were standard. It's a room you wouldn't mind doing a staycation in. The service is wonderful. There is a front desk for easy check in, and the host was available via text if we needed anything ( at one point we needed more tissues and she brought it within minutes). They also offer free rosé upon arrival and free pastries and fruit/coffee during breakfast. The location is not exactly in downtown but it's a 15 min walk or a 5 min drive to the park/square. Can't wait to come back .

Such a fun and cute place to stay!…read more For reference, I'm usually not a motel girlie. I've done Hampton Inns and similar but prefer the Four Seasons and Ritz Carltons. Having said that, I've had better customer service at some 3 star places than some 5 stars. I had read great things about this place and it looked so fun, I couldn't pass it up! Guest services here are stellar. I called the day before to see if we could store our luggage in the lobby, realizing we had a tasting before checkin. Not only was that fine, but they said we could get into our room a little early to avoid that. And, they left us a sweet note and gift for our anniversary! If we needed anything, they were quick to reply and help throughout the stay. (For example, hubby forgot his toothbrush. I texted you see if they had any - they did in their gift shop and offered to run one to our room!) The room itself was compact but comfortable and well appointed. And, it was so nice to walk into a cool room on such a hot day. (Don't take that for granted - I've had less than great on that front.) Storage is a little limited, but we used our luggage as a dresser drawer. The bed was firm and cozy, and the sheets were lovely. We slept great! The toilet paper and tissues were a little rough - almost office supply quality - which was disappointing. Huge TV with lots of options. They serve croissants and coffee/tea in the lobby/lounge area in the morning. The croissants were big, buttery, and beautiful! Yummy! The coffee was meh at best. The location is great - just a few blocks to the town park and restaurants. We didn't have an opportunity to use the fire pit, but they looked cozy. The property itself is pretty with lots of flowers. The drive/walkway was steep in some places. Parking seemed a little tricky - we saw people taking a few attempts to make it work - but doable. You only get 1 key per room. We were doing things together the entire time, so that wasn't an issue. I would have liked to have seen an extra security lock on the door, but that's me. All in all it was a great stay and I would be happy to return! (Hint, hint in case hubby sees this!) Huge thanks to all there for making our anniversary getaway a romantic, relaxing treat!
