Right past Winthrop is a cute spot, with a good locale, the River Run Inn. Decided to stay one…read moreextra night since there were more things we wanted to do while in town. It was a bit steep for a Monday evening, totaling $211 with taxes. Upon driving in, on the left hand side was an eyesore, reminiscent of the Texas Chainsaw massacre with car parts strewn all over the lawn, a bit eery. Maybe that's where you end up if you don't pay! The manager on duty was very polite, and let us check in a couple hours earlier than their normal check in. The maids were still cleaning the room when we arrived. They only allow one person at a time at the hotel desk so they abide by COVID rules. Every employee we came across wore masks. We stayed in the main building up on the second floor. Enter room. Very clean. On the left is a closet with permanent hangers and a vanity with soaps and lotions (beware the soap does not foam at all, was it really soap?), and then the bathroom. Lots of towels. In the room straight ahead is a loveseat and and A/C unit that works very well. There were two queen beds with that cute "you're on the river" bed posts. Quilted blankets for that homey feel. Pretty sure they aren't cleaning the quilts between guests though, didn't smell fresh. Pillows were comfy. Beds were firm, but I found it quite comfortable. They supply a mini fridge and a microwave and a coffee station. There is a tv, but it's about the size of a laptop monitor, pretty small. Normally they have a place where you can borrow DVD's to watch or board games to play, but during COVID, they are not doing that. The best part of the Inn is that our patio overlooked the River, which is very relaxing. The screen door fell off the tracks multiple times so I decided to just leave it parked at an angle outside the sliding glass door. They provided a citronella candle (nice touch) in case you didn't want to experience mosquito genocide. Not relaxing was the giant tree being escavated within our front view, and was loud, ruining an otherwise perfect view of the water. Before dinner, we laid out in the hammock and got some shut eye. After dinner we came back, as I had reserved an hour (they allow you to sign yourself up on a sheet outside the indoor pool on premises) for the pool and the hot tub. Beware, the hot tub.... it's hot. Burned my keister. :P The wi-fi was somewhat slow and made it somewhat difficult to plan the next days adventures. We still managed to get a decent nights sleep, and check out was quick and easy.

My room was one of the "budget" rooms, but it was clean and tidy. The lighting was a little dark, but I wasn't really in the room other than to sleep. They have a nice seating area in the open outside that has shade and seats. I spent a couple hours there just reading a book there. Staff was very friendly when I checked out. It's within walking distance to a pizzeria and a convenience store. My total tab was a little over $100. The larger rooms and cabins obviously cost more.

People at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. We got a bottle of wine from the store on one side and a great pizza from the restaurant on the other side. It was a perfect place to watch the Mariners beat the Tigers in the ALDS. On our next visit we'll spend more time and visit downtown Winthrop, which looked quite charming.

From my understanding the park is ran by two people and they have been nothing but welcoming and nice. We reserve 2 tent sites each summer. The bathrooms are SO CLEAN! They have great WiFi and the river is amazing. The dog run is HUGE and they have outdoor games for the kids and a covered area.

Upon arriving spontaneously in the charming town of Twisp, Washington...I needed a place to sleep for the evening before embarking on my journey through North Cascades NP. While using the app on my phone called Campendium, I found Riverbend RV Park. A lot of trailer and RV parks don't accommodate tents...but this place did! And that's how I was planning on staying here, setting up my tent and sleeping within the wonderful woods of nature. What was truly great about this Riverbend Park was that although I arrived in late afternoon at the last moment, I was still able to book a tent site using my credit card online through their website...riverbendrv.com. It was $28 plus tax for a campsite located right by the river! How cool! Not only was I setting up camp within the forest...but the surrounding river made for such a soothing and calming ambiance. I absolutely loved it here! Another fantastic aspect about Riverbend included in the $28 were showers and restrooms. Perfect! Now I had the chance to freshen up and get myself organized before camping out the next few days at North Cascades. When I did arrive...the Park Hosts had left for the evening and I luckily found an attendant on the grounds who provided me with a passcode to unlock the doors to the showers and bathrooms. Also, to use the showers...I needed quarters to operate them. But for me that wasn't an issue as I had plenty of change in my car for moments like these. Overall, the showers were clean and had hot running water. I was very satisfied with the conditions. When I had visited during this summer of 2020, there was a posted sign saying due to wildfires within the area...please no charcoal grills for barbecuing. Only electric grills allowed. Well...I had to break this rule. Otherwise I had no way of cooking dinner. So...I did light my small grill. I swear...I contained the flames extremely cautiously, lol. Also at my site was a picnic table...and once again...this was all situated along the banks of the river (how awesome). I simply found the setting here to be absolutely ideal! Here I was...enjoying a couple of hamburgers and hot dogs while sitting down at my picnic table relaxing by the free flowing river...all situated within the heart of bountiful trees and grass! Seriously...I was really happy here, lol. When the sun set, I had a terrific summer night's evening. It wasn't too cool outside and the stars were in full force. Sitting in my lounge chair I was able to take some time to appreciate the night's sky here in Northern Washington. In the moment I realized just how fortunate I felt to be able to travel (during this pandemic) especially coming from South Florida. I was a long ways away from home. Just some final points from my visit...this Riverbend RV Park is situated right off the road along Highway 20. Once I pulled onto the grounds there were instructions and a map on where to find the campsites. When I was here back in August of 2020, the sites were filled with plenty of trailers and RV's. You could sense this was a popular place for visitors and tourists. I had a wonderful night's sleep here. It was quiet and I felt rested the following day. Since the town of Twisp was nearby, when I woke up the next day before heading to North Cascades NP...I stopped at famous Cinnamon Twisp Bakery for some breakfast. It was a fulfilling way to get my day started. Overall, I couldn't ask for anything more than the amenities and accommodations I received here at Riverbend RV Park. I can't recommend this place enough! It's the perfect starter/campground for getting your North Cascades journey going in the right direction when entering the park from the east side and venturing west.

Only a couple downers: the bathroom- there's only one in the whole place (showers take quarters), and the campers located adjacent to us. I kinda wish they didn't place our young family next to a group of rowdy college women... I'm all for girls night but they had very vulgar conversations. We asked them to hold off on such language until they were out of earshot of all the children on the grounds. The hosts of the campsite were very accommodating! They provided a fire pit from their "surplus" pile, they have firewood for sale (cheaper than store in town) and a DEEPLY serene view of the lake. That lake was so PEACEFUL even a couple of deers wandered through the edge of the site down to the lake.

We stayed at this property in February 2010. The contact organization is Central Reservations in…read moreWinthrop, WA. It looked bright and clean from the internet pictures, and it was pet friendly. On arrival, the first thing I did was check the sheets. I found them wrinkled and, upon closer inspection, there was a pubic hair nestled in the sheets! The 2nd bedroom revealed stained pillowcases, and wrinkled sheets. I immediately called Central Reservations. They dispatched 2 housekeepers who arrived and demanded to see the pubic hair before changing the sheets! The replacement sheets were severely pilled and worn. A thrift store would not accept them as a donation, but they appeared clean. When I pointed out the stains on the pillowcase on the bed in the 2nd bedroom, the housekeeper refused to change the sheets in this room, pretending to change them behind a closed door. I quickly realized there was nowhere to deposit our trash. No instructions, no outside trash can. Since there is no landline in this property, I had to go to a wifi site and send an email. I was advised by Central Reservations to "just leave the trash on the porch". Knowing that there are domestic and wild animals who could/would make a mess of unsecured garbage, there was no way I was going to do this. Instead we spent one trip a day in the car trying to find secret trash cans in Winthrop to dispose of our trash. In response to an email, Central Reservations again dispatched a housekeeper to remove our garbage and leave us new trash bags. The only problem was, since there was no land line, Central Reservations did not know and could not check that we were not home (we were out trying to find somewhere to dump our trash). The housekeeper entered the house without our permission, and terrorized our poor cat, who is afraid of humans, and spent the next few hours cowering and yowling under the bed. The property is very dirty. Stained pot holders are prominently displayed on hooks over the stove, many cigarette butts sit in a pot on the deck. My cat scooped hunks of hair, crumbs, an old cracker, dirt and dust from under the stove. There is dog feces in the yard. The shower curtain is coated with soap scum. The venetian blind in the bathroom is bent and almost non-functional. The pet hair on the blinds is unsightly. The space behind the TV is very dusty. Even the hooks that hold the coffee mugs in the kitchen are dirty. The good things about this house are the newish fridge, full size washer/dryer, the stove/oven, microwave, TV and DVD player. The airtight gas stove works well. The view of the river is stunning. Upon departure, we checked under the bed and found a dirty sock and a pair of dirty underpants. We were surprised at the lack of cleanliness of this house, since it looked white and sparkly on the internet. Just because it is a property that allows pets, does not mean it can't be clean. If you plan to stay here bring blankets to put over the furniture and be prepared to do your own deep cleaning. We will NEVER stay here again.
