Right past Winthrop is a cute spot, with a good locale, the River Run Inn. Decided to stay one extra night since there were more things we wanted to do while in town. It was a bit steep for a Monday evening, totaling $211 with taxes. Upon driving in, on the left hand side was an eyesore, reminiscent of the Texas Chainsaw massacre with car parts strewn all over the lawn, a bit eery. Maybe that's where you end up if you don't pay! The manager on duty was very polite, and let us check in a couple hours earlier than their normal check in. The maids were still cleaning the room when we arrived. They only allow one person at a time at the hotel desk so they abide by COVID rules. Every employee we came across wore masks. We stayed in the main building up on the second floor. Enter room. Very clean. On the left is a closet with permanent hangers and a vanity with soaps and lotions (beware the soap does not foam at all, was it really soap?), and then the bathroom. Lots of towels. In the room straight ahead is a loveseat and and A/C unit that works very well. There were two queen beds with that cute "you're on the river" bed posts. Quilted blankets for that homey feel. Pretty sure they aren't cleaning the quilts between guests though, didn't smell fresh. Pillows were comfy. Beds were firm, but I found it quite comfortable. They supply a mini fridge and a microwave and a coffee station. There is a tv, but it's about the size of a laptop monitor, pretty small. Normally they have a place where you can borrow DVD's to watch or board games to play, but during COVID, they are not doing that. The best part of the Inn is that our patio overlooked the River, which is very relaxing. The screen door fell off the tracks multiple times so I decided to just leave it parked at an angle outside the sliding glass door. They provided a citronella candle (nice touch) in case you didn't want to experience mosquito genocide. Not relaxing was the giant tree being escavated within our front view, and was loud, ruining an otherwise perfect view of the water. Before dinner, we laid out in the hammock and got some shut eye. After dinner we came back, as I had reserved an hour (they allow you to sign yourself up on a sheet outside the indoor pool on premises) for the pool and the hot tub. Beware, the hot tub.... it's hot. Burned my keister. :P The wi-fi was somewhat slow and made it somewhat difficult to plan the next days adventures. We still managed to get a decent nights sleep, and check out was quick and easy. read more

Do not stay here - the AQI was above 250 and very unhealthy. Every other hotel let us reschedule but they do not. I'd still clear of this place and choose another hotel. Every other hotel we were staying at accomodated us. read more

We could not make our reservation due to the Sourdough fire closure on Hwy 20. The merchant still denied a refund and did not respond to any emails or phone calls. I strongly recommend avoiding this abysmal place. read more

Would never recommend! I never leave bad reviews because I like to give people and businesses the benefit of the doubt. Rude owner, seemed lovely at first until an issue arose, but since we booked through Expedia, she didn't want to help us. Beds were terrible. Location is cute, but everything in town is closed by 5pm. Don't let this place hinder your vacation the way it did ours! read more

We were given a gift certificate for mistakes made, we went to redeem it and was told we cannot use it on weekends - never written or told to us. They were also concerned when it was written. We miss Johnny and the pool, new owner really could care less about customers that have been coming for years. We are persuing with the BBB. read more

A great surprise stay at the River Run after we messed up our original reservation. Squeaky clean room, a sweet set of accommodations for the pooch, landscaped and grassy play area right on the river and AC! Will definitely stay again and recommend to others. read more

River Run Inn is in a terrific location, walkable to all of Winthrop's central businesses and right on the river and so beautiful in the snow cover of Winter. The property is well off Highway 20 and everyone I spoke with was very friendly. Our second-floor kitchenette room was equipped with a 2-slice toaster, a few melamine type bowls and plates, a few coffee mugs and drinking glasses, coffee tea and a micro coffee maker, a few spoons, forks, and knives, a micro fridge, a television, and a small microwave. There was a larger bed and closet and kitchen table with two chairs in the main room as well as two wicker type chairs and a table. We had a sliding glass door and deck facing the river. There was a separate room that could be closed with two twin beds and a closet. Bringing your own crockpot and/or hot plate would give you more food prep options. If you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs as music, television, and conversations were easily overheard. Our carpet wasn't vacuumed well on the flat or in the corners, and there was tissue paper, a crayon, and other stuff under one of the twin beds. Also, when scooting in the kitchen chairs fingers made contact with some sticky stuff that could have been gum but I didn't want to look. The three beds were extremely saggy and the twin beds were also extremely squeaky. The only thing about my experience here that I consider a deal killer: the beds that we had which created very painful back and hip problems. We made a stop in Winthrop on our drive along the Cascades Loop and chose this rustic inn for a 1 night stay. The property is conveniently located just minutes from town in a quiet setting on the banks of the Methow River. There are cabins and a guesthouse spread around the property, but we chose a 2nd floor room in the inn. The furniture is handmade from logs, but comfortable. Our spacious room included a small flat screen TV, mini fridge and microwave. Overall, we were very happy with our accommodations. read more

I stayed at the River Run Inn this past weekend. I was there for a friend's wedding that was held in a resort in the area. The River Run Inn is in a great location close to everything in Winthrop. I checked in and was greeted by very friendly staff. I stayed in #9 a downstairs room. The room had 2 queen beds and it was just me. Nothing else was available as this place seems to be a very popular spot to if you are staying in Winthrop. The room was clean and the staff cordial. The best part was the view of the river. I could open the patio door and walk and sit at the rivers edge. There are hammocks available for you to just lay down and watch the river or doze. It is beautiful. The only two problems I had were the ROCK hard beds. I had a double room and both beds were the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in. At one point I had checked to make sure that I was actually sleeping on a mattress because when I sat down on the mattress there was no give and It felt like I was sitting on a board. It made for a night of tossing and turning and a very sore back in the morning. The room also had extremely thin walls. I expected that I would hear some noise just because it's an older hotel and honestly I was just going to be in the room to sleep so I figured I could tolerated some noise but the amount was ridiculous. Someone staying by me snores so loudly that I could hear them through the walls. I could hear the people above me up and walking around and the water running when they were using the shower. I don't think I would stay here again. While the view of the river was great there is no way to get a good night sleep with the noise and the extremely uncomfortable beds. read more

I love this place. My mom and I used to vacation here when I was a kid way back before they had built the cabins and I think the north wing of the hotel. It was always tranquil and relaxing, wiping away the stress of city living. Although the hotel has grown, it hasn't changed a bit in terms of peace. I just got back from a three day stay. Our room was on the top floor with a private, secluded balcony overlooking the river. We could hear the water running at night, which made for a wonderful night's sleep. Although there were several families with numerous children, we never felt like there was a noise problem. It's only a short walk into town, or drive if you prefer. There is a winery just across the highway with wine tasting. You can inner tube down the river right from the inn, or just don your suit and wade in the cool water to wash away the heat and sweat of the day. You really can't beat the scenery at this place, nor the small, family-run feel. read more

We went to River Run Inn on the recommendation of a family member and absolutely loved it! We stayed in one of the cabins so that we could have privacy and also cook on our own (The kitchen was well-equipped). It was a lovely accommodation and very spacious with plenty of space, furniture and a comfortable bed. The setting on the river is lovely and we spent part of each afternoon relaxing in the hammocks or soaking our feet in the river. Winthrop is just a 10 minute walk away with restaurants, coffee places and shops. The staff at the Inn were very friendly and accommodating. We will happily return. read more

Great Riverfront location in Winthrop. We stayed in #7. It was on the far end of the resort which made it private and quiet. It is a single floor kitchenette there is no unit upstairs above it which increases the privacy. The bed was comfortable. The room was missing some form of a couch or somewhere to sit and lounge. The kitchenette was minimally appointed compared to other places that we have stayed. I give the place high marks because of the location which is fantastic for a summer getaway. read more

We had a star-crossed stay here this summer. Our car broke down as we pulled into the lot. What was supposed to be a one-night stay turned into a multi-day visit. The whole staff was very supportive of us during this difficult time. One of the owners lent us his car to run a few quick errands around town, and one of the front desk employees drove us to the supermarket and back after her shift was over. This hotel is in such a relaxing location, especially with hammocks and lawn chairs out by the river, I just wish we'd been more in the mood to relax during our stay! I was so impressed with how clean our cabin was I complimented the conscientious woman who cleans the cabins as we checked out. It is the cleanest cabin I have ever stayed in. I've paid far more for smelly, dirty cabins with mismatched dishes and yucky towels. The dishes were really nice set and so were the mugs and glasses. The ground coffee was a nice touch. The towel for the hot tub were fluffy and ample size. The sound of the river is intoxicating! Loved our stay. We walked to Duck Brand Restaurant for excellent food. Affordable, comfortable, and clean rooms. Amenities such as microwave, fridge, coffee machine (freshly ground coffee!), and even a toaster. Friendly staff. The free Wi-Fi had a very weak signal. Likely due to being in the furthest room away (18). But, not a deal breaker. I definitely recommend. read more

Staff are very friendly ans helpful. I've stayed here 4 times. 3 times in the main rooms and once in the 6bd house. House is fully equiped for family stays. The inn has everything you need including bikes, games, hammocks and bbq grills including the briquettes. read more

We stayed 6/5/16 after a long drive and were looking forward to a pleasant evening and a restful night. The rooms were nice as well as being on the river's edge. However, the building was so poorly sound proofed it became a nightmare. The people above us were constantly stomping on the floor above us Until midnight when I finally had to go up and have words with them. Also every time the neighbors used the bathroom it echoed into our room. In short It was the wost stay I've ever had. read more

Great place to stay! We stayed here for one night while we were in the area hiking but I wish we could've stayed longer. We almost had the place all to ourselves. They had the most comfortable bed, great rates and only charged an additional $15 for our dog. Will definitely stay here again next time we come to town! read more

Disappointed. My wife and I reserved Cabin A, and she had been looking forward to our getaway for weeks. When we got there, the promised river view (see website) wasn't there, and the gas fireplace didn't work. In addition, the cabin is poorly laid out. The 12" TV is on top of the mantle, and there is only room for one chair anywhere near in front of it. So much for snuggling and watching movies. We didn't stay, and the woman at the desk was very polite in voiding my credit card transaction. The place looks nice overall, maybe we just reserved the wrong cabin. read more

This is an adorable place to stay that is much more luxurious than anticipated given the price. Private balcony, cabin-y feel, spotlessly clean, spacious interior, river views...even a kitchenette! All for the price of a cheap hotel? Real coffee that you can brew to taste in the room (not in packets) as well as a selection of organic teas, and real mugs and wine glasses. What's more, the people that run the place are incredibly nice and accommodating to special requests and needs. If I had to make a criticism, it would be the amount of light in the room in the morning (no blackout curtains), BUT I'm extremely sensitive to light while sleeping, and my partner felt that the number of windows and natural light were a good. Overall, this was the best deal in a hotel we've ever found. We wouldn't hesitate to return! read more

We needed a room in Winthrop because of a concert and found that cheaper hotels were all full, so swallowed hard and paid about $211 (including taxes and fees) for a room. We found the hotel's description and photos very misleading. The entrance driveway took us past some broken-down huts. The photos of patchwork quilts, carpeted room and quaint wicker furniture didn't prepare us for bare laminate floor, cheap comforter and a sofa of black vinyl and steel that belonged in a cheap office. The promised "kitchenette" was the coffeemaker and mini-fridge you'd find in most cheap motel rooms, plus a toaster and a few dishes -- no cooking surface and no cooking utensils. River view? From our sliding back door the view was of one swing, and an ugly capped old well. You could see a sliver of the water (really a small creek) if you go outside, but then you'd have to smell the burned grease and old charcoal of the half a dozen used barbecue grills piled right near the door. And if you sit down in one of the rickety patio chairs, you don't see the water any more. We've seen better at half the price. Maybe these photos and descriptions apply only to the premium separate cabins, but that should have been clear. Not going back. read more

We reserved room 10 online because it had a river view and were told when checking in that room 10 had been given away to another person the night before. We were given room 12 instead which had a view of cabin, volleyball court, and playground with no river view. The man who checked us in was cold and not welcoming. He never apologized for the room we reserved becoming unavailable. I believe I've had a more welcoming greeting, experience, and customer service at a Best Western than at the River Run Inn. I do not believe we will be back. read more

Our family of four rented Cabin A. It was a great experience. We enjoyed playing in the large grass field in front of our cabin and in the pool. They also had lots of indoor and outdoor games to use and a large DVD collection. Thank you River Run Inn! read more

We were there during that awkward tween season between winter and spring when there was no snow left but still cool (50s-60s) and not much was open. We picked this location because of the indoor pool which we used twice and quite enjoyed. We decided to upgrade to a cabin and it was nice to have the room to spread out. Having a kitchen helps with meals and snackies. The management was very friendly and helpful. Would have been great to stay here later in the year and be able to enjoy the deck. We were surprised at how many stores were completely closed until April or May but we still had a great time. Wireless internet was pretty slow but we ran into that all over town and we were in the farthest cabin so it wasn't surprising. Our daughter had packed dvds so we watched a number of those with their provided dvd player. read more

Chose this place on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Clean, quaint and very accommodating. Staff is very nice. The river running through the property makes for a peaceful backdrop. We like it so much we're thinking about having our family reunion here next year. read more
