Upon driving up you can't help but notice that their building is HUGE! It's as big as a Costco! Tons of trailers were docked getting filled up by the many volunteers. They even had a Amazon trailer at the loading/unloading dock. There were approximately 30+ volunteers. We all gathered at the picnic tables inside the warehouse. Coffee, Tea, and snacks were provided - nice touch. We all worked together to load many boxes of food that were sent on a rolling conveyor belt with volunteers all along it. I was a team of 2 that stacked the boxes on multiple pallets before a forklift driver whisked them away. It was so awesome to be apart of. If you ever have a chance to volunteer please do so.

As someone who is newly out after years of religious trauma, they were who I turned to first. I had wanted to volunteer there. I received no response even though I reached out on several occasions. When I tried to sign up for women of the rainbow, it was questioned why someone my age would need their help. I was told they were not a dating service. I wish I never would have gone there. It's hard knowing that this was my first attempt at belonging and I was so horribly rejected. I really hate to say this, but I would say queer women 25 to 49 should steer clear of this place. Especially if you are overweight and nuerodivergent. There has to be a safe place for us. I'm still looking for my place, but it's for sure not here.

These meetings are supposed to be open to anyone in the community. While the first was okay, but the second was horrible. At the second one, a new attendee, a lesbian, who seemed in a bad mood, started on a tirade against transgender people. Five minutes of bile and hate later, I was hoping someone would object, but to my amazement the other two lesbians in the group there encouraged her and supported her. I should have objected but I felt the hatred expressed was too overwhelming and I decided there just was no advantage to objecting and I just left. I did not believe anything I said would be received well as I there was three of them and one of me, and they were all in agreement As far as I am concerned this place is a bastion of hate and bigotry and I have no interest being anywhere near them. People will also bring in small items for free/donate and display them on the tables--first come, first serve. I have left entertainment, clothes, shoes, hygiene care items, luggage totes, blankets, kitchen wares, pet supplies over the years on the tables--things are gone almost instantly. They have a lovely children's waiting room. They host events, fundraisers, drives, social activities for donors and clients throughout the year, especially treating clients well on holidays and back to school. They have an indoor library and outdoor book library stand--take books, leave books. Free to take. ***Please donate pet food! Diapers! Wipes! Tampons and pads!***

I had some mixed experiences here, but it won't stop me from using some of the day laborers here…read more I called and left a message regarding hiring some people to help me with a backyard project. No one returned my call. Then I went to the website and saw that they were open 6 to 10 am for walk-ins. I decided to do that on a Saturday morning, but by the time I arrived just after 8 am, they were closed. Someone outside told me they closed at 8 am that morning (instead of 10 am), but asked what I needed. I told them I need a couple of guys to help me with my backyard mulching project. He shouted to some guys in the parking lot, and voila, I got two guys to help me. These guys were real pros and came prepared to work. These guys were very hard working, and we worked through the mulch pile in my backyard in about 5 hours (mulching a hillside). I was very impressed with how fast it got done (especially going up and down the hill). I had a second delivery of mulch the following week, and I got one of the workers' cell phone. We arranged 3 guys the following week since we had to move the mulch from the driveway to the backyard, and the job got done just as efficiently and effectively. I'm overall pleased with the day workers that I found hanging outside the center, and I'm glad I went there physically to find someone. So 5 stars for the day workers I picked up. Very hard working and very nice guys. I will have no hesitation to come back here to find help with more projects. As for the center, the jury is still out. No one has returned my call, but it's moot at this point, as I got the helpers I needed. Next time I will just show up and see who I can find in the parking lot.

The Boys and Girls Club of Martinez (aka Diablo Valley) is a "home away from home" and a positive place for for kids. It offers various programs including character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts, and sports. My Site Manager and her husband have been personally involved with this very worthy organization for years. My company is also a long time supporter and many of my colleagues volunteer many hours of their own time (including some periodic food bank work). At one time many years ago, I served on their Board of Directors. However, I have had no direct involvement with the Boys and Girls Club of Martinez for several years. I just got busy with other charitable activities closer to home. The Boys and Girls Club of Martinez also organizes various fund-raising events throughout the year. These have included, a Crab Feed, the annual Auction, the Pete Ginocchio Memorial Golf Tournament, Power Lunch, and the Day for Kids. These events are not only enjoyable, but are attended by various interesting and very caring members of the greater Diablo Valley community.

So far I am not especially satisfied with the services I have had. They did provide funding for me to have an employment coach, but due to issues that shall remain confidential, I am currently unemployed, and getting a job has been put on the backburner while I sort things out. I live on my own but my parents continue to support me financially. It's difficult for people in my situation to get help tailored to our needs. I am higher functioning than the majority of their clients are, but my anxiety has made obtaining and maintaining employment a challenge. The services they have told me about really don't sound like they would be of much use, as they are more for people who aren't able to care for themselves and struggle with basic life skills. Then there's the issue of them never seeming to have my current information on file, despite me giving them the information multiple times. A few years ago I changed my phone number. I gave them my new number, and in addition I changed the voicemail greeting for my old number to say that I was no longer taking calls at that number and to please call me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX. But for some reason my new number never made it into their system. They do have my email address, which hasn't changed, and I do periodically receive emails from them. The date of my annual case review came and went and I didn't hear anything from them, either via phone or email. Finally I called them to ask what was going on. It took several weeks for my case manager to get back to me. When they finally did, they told me that, because they hadn't heard from me in a while and were unable to reach me because my phone number had been deactivated, they closed my case. They told me they emailed me about it but I never received any emails. So I had to go through the process of reopening my case. Then about eight months ago I moved. I gave them my new address, and my case manager came to my house, both to assess my living situation and go over various stuff with me regarding the services they can provide. Since I'm not currently seeking employment, I didn't sign up for any services. My case manager said they would check in with me every three months, but several months went by and I didn't hear anything from them. Then a few days ago I received an email saying that they tried to send me a letter by mail so it was returned to them, and they scanned it and sent it to me in an email. When I looked at the address, I saw that it was my old address, where my parents are now living. They are my emergency contacts, so sending stuff to that address normally wouldn't be an issue since my parents would just give it to me. However, the reason why the letter was returned to them was that they misspelled the name of the street! The USPS didn't recognize the address, hence why the letter was returned. I don't think that this was the case manager's fault, since they visited me at my current address (not only that but they never visited me at where I was living before). So whoever is in charge of handling the information they have on file needs to make sure everything is up to date. I check my phone and my email on a regular basis throughout the day, so if they were to contact me, I would get the notification. Like a lot of other organizations, while they are coming from a good place, they are poorly managed, and as a result are difficult to work with.

He went to one of the worst medical schools in the country, and has extremely poor bed side manner. Having a child diagnosed with any disability is very hard and you need to have a dr who has compassion and sympathy. When we told our case manager about our disapproval she stated a lot of people have shared the same results. So please if you read this ask for a dr other than Paul fujita
