Really liked the location of the Lodge but it did take me a minute to recognize it was inside the old Bank of America branch on Clayton Road.

Over the last four or five years, there has been a sharp decline overall. The pool is dirty, the lounge chairs are ripped and thread bare. Some of the lounge chairs have been replaced by cheap plastic style chairs one sees at Ace Hardware and those are breaking down as well. The outdoor dining chairs on the patio have seen better days and the gym hasn't been properly cleaned. There have been broken mirrors, and exercise equipment that was broken or missing and never replaced. The food has gone steadily laid downhill despite a dining room makeover. About a year ago, and prior to the renovation, the food wasn't too bad. Please give your customers back the more healthy options good salads with fresh fish or fresh chicken, good reason, reasonably healthy sandwiches and something better than subpar dinner new items. Not everybody wants to eat deep fried, overcooked, overly salty food or mac & cheese that clearly comes from a box. Oakhurst, please do better.

From the moment you step onto their farm, you can see how well the animals are cared for and how much work goes into maintaining the property. One of my favorite parts of visiting the farm is discovering the local products they feature in their farmstand. I was introduced to Laurel Ann's baked goods here and now I'm obsessed! It's free to stop by their farmstand during their business hours to buy anything from eggs, juice, cookies, bread, honey, etc. Love that when I'm supporting this farm, it also means supporting other small businesses in the community. Over the course of my visits, I've noticed that they have added more animals. While some people mention that general admission of $20 per person feels high, it's important to understand that these proceeds go directly toward maintaining the facility, feeding and caring for the animals. I was shocked to learn just how much the animals (and they have alot) eat in a single day! General admissions allows you to explore the facility and use their picnic area to enjoy the yummy treats you bought from the farmstand when it's not too hot, it's the perfect place for a picnic! It's not a huge farm, but it's worth a visit. You'll get to enjoy yummy treats from local businesses, learn about the animals, and disconnect from the hustle bustle of life.

It's additional to do meet and greet with the farm animals. The total was $40 per person for our visit on a weekend. Once arrived, farmer Mike greeted us and walked us through the farm. They have donkeys and goats from Stardust Sanctuary you can see but cannot pet. We got to see pigs, bunnies, babydoll sheep, and highland cows. Farmer Mike was really patient with all the little ones on the tour and made sure to give precautions (don't chase the animals, etc). Overall we had a great time, at the end, farmer Mike even brought a baby pig for us to see and pet. Definitely an experience that is great for children, but my husband and I still enjoyed the tour.

I had two family members with professional skills who wanted to be our vendors for photography and DJ, and Lien said ok but she kept complaining to me that they hadn't properly completed her required forms--my family members told me they had completed the forms multiple times already, but Lien told me no. She called me up a week before the wedding to say if she didn't get the forms, we would have no vendors for these two important roles. My niece was almost in tears saying she would submit the forms again. We had to pay extra to have access to venue an hour early, we had to pay extra for anticipated bar because we paid extra for guests to stay longer and relax after the bridal party departed. However her staff/kids came out and started clearing off tables as soon as the bride-groom left, even though we still had at least an hour, maybe an hour & a half paid for, so guests started leaving since they thought it was time. Also, it was 100 degrees that day and Lien said she did not have any space in her refrigerator to keep our small 20 inch 2 layer cake, the one for the bride & groom. How can that be? Honestly, I wish we would have chosen somewhere else, it was so stressful to deal with the owners. You want it to be such a special day, and you hope to see that reflected by the owners/staff but then you are treated like just another set of fools to be milked for money like a cash cow. Her staff seemed bored and disinterested, they clearly could not wait to be done. My daughter & her groom were shielded from a lot of the unpleasantness I and other family members had to navigate as mom/family of the bride. I would never recommend this place unless it gets new owners. I can't believe the good reviews, my experience was just so bad. We paid a lot and didn't even try to adjust the costs after they shut us down early for no reason, it wasn't worth dealing with them. It is a shame, the place is really lovely.
