This is a well-preserved mid-century structure, both clean and bright. Many friendly people were there that are members of the Elks Lodge. They were very happy that they joined the Elks in order to help with youth activities, i.e., the Car Show, the Challenger Baseball jamboree, the Haunted House and the Hoop Shoot free throw contest. Here's one of my Mom's favourite jokes: Q. What do the Lady Reindeer do while the Men Reindeer are off helping Santa? A. They go to the Elks Club and blow a few Bucks! According to the outside plaque, Elks Lodge #1811 was built in 1955 (the year before I was born). This one story building (with basement) does look a bit retro, but overall seems that it's been pretty well cared for. Inside is a comfortable bar and lounge area, a separate event room with bar, a large ballroom, and a creekside deck. Another interesting observation was the presence of 4 RVs in the parking lot and hooked up to utilities. Other ways that the Elks Lodge generates external revenue is through room rentals, events and catering. There's certainly enough room and I definitely could see me attending or hosting an event here. I visited the Club today as the members were kind enough to let us use the Ballroom, Basement, and Parking Lot for today's Walnut Creek CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) drill. Wandering around in the dark isn't the usual way one gets a first impression, but it was a very good start. read more

Every year my company does some type of event that involves everyone. From the lowest on the totem poll to the CEO. If you haven't guessed, this years event was held here at the Elks Loge. We utilized the large ball room like area. They have a massive projection screen for some power points that were presented. Along with projecting videos and what not. It does not have its own sound system so you'll have to bring your own. There was room enough for food to be displayed in the back on tables. There was another room that looked like a more formal smaller dinning room. Very fancy looking. We didn't use that one. A bar is located right outside the ball room and there's a smaller darker lounge like bar located around the corner. Alcohol is banned from our company events so we didn't use either of those. The whole place has that really old 60's-70's feel. I saw some great really old photos of past members. Hanging on the walls are necklaces that represent something within the chapter. It was a great event space for our group to get together. Building that team if you know what I mean. read more

We had an event at this Lodge on Monday Kelly was my contact person to get things rolling Kelly was friendly, efficient, organized and thought of everything! I was overwhelmed thinking of what I needed to do, Ive never done this kind of thing before. She calmed my nerves and allowed me a sigh of relief "I got you" she says. They set up and beak down tables and chairs. They have extension cords, a projector, a microphone or two, great clean rooms, a kitchen, a bar, table linen, pitchers for water or tea, easels, tables in a variety of sizes. Everything ran smoothly and exactly on time. Kelly was there the whole time to troubleshoot anything that may have arise and to be a support to us all. Great prices and everything you could need. We hired our own caterer ( since at the time they do not have one) and our caterer Leslie Masler was welcomed with open arms and treated respectfully and with kindness and support. We wen't to a Crab Feed For the Mount Diablo Legal Professional Association on Saturday, and it was my first time at the Elks Lodge. When we arrived there was a lot of available parking and and the place was very easy to find. Inside the room where the crab feed was being held it was really big and very clean. We found our table and decided to get a soda. After I got my soda my wife went up and asked the bartender for a couple of lemons for her water. When she came back, my wife said when she asked the bartender for a couple of lemons didn't really understand what she wanted. After we finished all of our water that was in the pitcher on the table I grabbed the pitcher and took it up to the bartenders to get some more. After standing right in front of the two bartenders for a minute while they were talking to each other I asked if they could fill it up for me. The female bartender said she could do it and I asked her if I could get a couple of lemons for my wife. She then said whats up with all the people wanting lemons there was a lady that wanted some earlier. She really didn't say it in the nicest way and I let her know that was probably my wife and I said she likes to drink water with lemons in it. She barely said a word back to me and I took the water and lemons and went back to our table. read more

I became a member over a year ago and it has been the best decision I ever made. The Elks have become a second family. Everyone is friendly and fun and there are so many opportunities to be involved.
