Located right in the middle of Contoocook, the market was bustling with all types of local vendors. I spied flowers, in season veg and fruits, berries, local and organic meats (frozen), pies, cookies, jellies, jams, maple syrple, and also some local hippies playing drums and other cool African beats. Kids, ducks, dogs, (Jackie was there too!), families, and pagans, were all there enjoying the sunny hot morning and getting their supplies for the week. I hope to be back soon!!

My friend bought a pint of their apple cider and when we tried it later that day we were really amazed by how crisp and refreshing it was. I bought a single apple cider donut for us to try and it was really soft and lovely, as well as some New Hampshire Maple Syrup. I learned that maple syrup from New Hampshire and Vermont have very distinct tastes so I'm curious to do a taste test at home!

As we explained we weren't doing a photo shoot just taking a couple photos of the baby he tells us "you aren't getting it" if you aren't buying a pumpkin from my pumpkin patch then you don't get to take photos". We never gave him a hard time about just said we wanted to take pictures of our baby picking out her first pumpkin. He definitely could have been A LOT nicer than he was but he had no problem harassing us. Honestly the pumpkin patch was not even "photo shoot worthy" if that was our "grand plan". This guy didn't do us any favor by letting us in 3 minutes after they closed either. We should have left as soon as that happened. And after that he disappeared and we didn't seem him again after that. I get why this place has barely a 2 star rating. 10/10 don't recommend and will never be back. It's not how you treat people. I feel bad for his son and who he looks up too.

If you have never had a farm fresh chicken, it really is something to try. It is hard for many people to understand why there is such a difference in grocery store prices vs farm prices (and then, organic farm prices). It's worth it to me because the flavor is so insanely better than anything I have bought at a store. This meat is even better than the chicken we get from a local non-organic farm. The other differences I noticed is that the skin is much heartier. It does not split easily. It's a healthier chicken, so the collagen is not compromised. My proof is also in the bottom of the pan. There was not much fat once the juices cooled. They solidified into gelatin, which tells me the collagen is healthier. We both noticed when eating the meat from bones, the bones actually had flavor! So, I cannot wait to get another one and make chicken stock from the bones. Also, the chicken was very big. I was under the misconception that only GMO feed and steroid injected chickens get that big at that young age. Not true. What is true is that all parts are proportionately large. As opposed to grocery store chickens that have huge breast meat areas, and the other parts are small. This chicken clearly got great exercise. We also got a sugar pumpkin. It was wonderful too. Some pie pumpkins are very hard to cut into, the skin is like bark. These pumpkins cut well, roasted well and had a nice autumn flavor. I will be making my pie soon. We ordered a turkey for Thanksgiving. I am very much looking forward to it. The turkeys are raised the same way the chickens are, and I am quite certain the flavor and quality will be unbelievable.

Their kiddie size is closer to what many places would call a small, and the portions are much more generous for the price. Sunnycrest has a beautiful farm setting and great flavors, so it's still a nice place to visit, but I think the portion sizes could be a bit more generous for what you're paying.

Naturally, the interior is (like I said) small and pretty unassuming, if I'm being entirely accurate. What you see is what you get and this is a good thing. Because everything looked pretty fresh and tasty to me. I possess neither the space nor memory to recall every last item they have here. But in addition to extra large fresh eggs, they also feature baked goods (to include my all time favorite - FUDGE!!) and real maple syrup. That's right! None of that synthetic, overly sugary crap for us true New Englanders. This, and other grocery stores like it, are the places we go when we want true, authentic maple syrup. Keep them in your freezer and pop them on the grill for a fast meal. (much less fat than beef) The bacon is great as are the buffalo steaks, just be sure not to over cook them. Real live buffalo in the field along with pigs, chickens, and other various creatures. Stop in and look at the prehistoric looking buffalo and take some of the tasty burger patties with you. I think they even have buffalo ribs if you want to be a Flintstone for a day.
