I buy most of my gifts here and also many of their bird seed items. I recently received exceptional customer service in the nursery area. I was looking for an item I had seen in the Fall. I described it to an associate and she asked another associate to assist me. Immediately after I described what I was looking for, she knew what I wanted. She had packed them up because they are technically seasonal items. She offered to go and find them for me. I was so happy that I was able purchase two of them for gifts. Whether jammies refers to jam makers, whether they are still wearing jammies, or both, I don't know. But his advice, the earlier the better. There are 4 strawberry fields, worth it to check each one for different selections. I was there 6/20 and there were still loads of strawberries to ripen. I think they expect to have strawberries until mid July, but they update daily on their recorded phone line.

Easy accessibility from exit 18 off of 93 and ample free parking makes getting here and getting your wares out simple and part of the fun. The drive up to Canterbury and through the town is absolutely gorgeous, and traffic levels stay relatively low. Hackleboro boasts acres of apple trees of many different varieties -- McIntosh, Cortland, Red and Gold Delicious, Puritan, Empire, and Northern Spy (call for availability). Long-handled pickers are provided, and the management requests that patrons refrain from climbing trees. They also have pick-your-own blueberries, peaches, strawberries, and other fruit (when in season), as well as a farm stand with freshly-made apple pies, apple cobblers, home-made cider, honey, maple syrup and candies, flowers, cookbooks, pumpkins, and lots more. Everything looks and tastes wonderful, and I make a special trip up whenever I can during the fall because of the sheer quality as well as my belief that it's important to support local farmers and family-run businesses. I know the family that runs the orchard, and they give the utmost care to the trees and animals under their watch. Speaking of the animals, there's a goat pen and some rabbits, as well as a horse, some chickens, and a number of farm cats and dogs. The farm is extremely family-friendly and bringing children and (leashed!) pets is encouraged. There are even free tractor rides on weekends! There is also an observation deck at the front of the orchard -- it boasts vistas of the mountains superior to anything else I've seen in the area. Treat yourself to a trip to Hackleboro Orchards. (There's a farm stand in Boscawen, too, and the farm attends various fairs each year, including the largely popular Deerfield Fair.) You will not be disappointed -- the quality of the products, the care of the people in charge, and the overall air and feel of the place is unparalleled. All in season, all fresh. All literally fresh picked because the customer makes the selection at the tree or bush. Getting there is easy. Couple of miles off Exit 9 on I-89.and once you're in the vicinity, signs are clearly marked. The road up to the farm and the view from the farm itself affords incredible views to the North including the White Mountains. Spectacular scenery. Then there's the farm itself, a quaint and beautiful place, quite extensive, with numerous crops. We spoke to the supervisor and asked to pick blueberries. By the way, they have a large selection of harvested fruits and vegetables already at the sales kiosk for those who don't desire to partake of the picking. But we were here to spend an hour or two for the fun of it and we told the supervisor. So he took us along to apart of the farm where we were the only ones in about a 300 foot radius. There were others in several other locations in the blueberry section but we never saw them, the place is so large. He left us alone with our bucket. The blueberry bushes were gigantic and packed with ripe blueberries, beautiful, and huge. Some of the bushes had so much fruit the branches were on the ground from so much weight. It was a joy to pick so many high quality berries. We collected close to 8 lbs of blueberries and after a couple of sodas, we paid $19. We're going to have blueberry pies, muffins and blueberry Belgian waffles for some time to come. A delightful experience. Great customer service and awesome views and outstanding product.

We ended up getting bunch of milk, cuts of beef and eggs. Most of them at reasonable price. It's a honor system but they do offer Venmo as payment so not cash only. We've only tried the milk so far but the flavored milks were very good and my partner was obsessed with the chocolate milk. I would recommend bringing your own bag or refrigerated bag/cooler. It was a great find and truly as hidden gem. Must stop for a trip to NH.
