WOW!!! JUST WOW~!!! I came here for the open house and…read moretoured the facility. I think it's pretty safe to say it's a one of a kind (if not the only) non-profit organization / facility that allows you to drop off your child(ren) with special needs, for a day or two on the weekend to allow the parents some time of respite. Absolutely love their mission and the fact that they care specifically for an otherwise marginalized population. They have three "lodges" each with 10 rooms (half singles, half doubles), outdoor playground, pool, indoor gymnasium, chapel, a variety of rooms for computers, music, arts & crafts, sensory stimulation and quite rooms. And practically everything has a theme. It really does look like a kids' paradise...and hopefully it will be. You'll need to register on their website to utilize their services.

From the carefully thought-out interior decor to the doting, compassionate staff, Jill's House is one of the most tangible manifestations of love for a group of children often overlooked by the general public. Jill's House is an overnight respite home for special-needs children. For the kids, it's like a fun sleepover - there's a music room with musical instruments, sing-a-long DVDs, and space to dance, a technology room with touch-screen computers, an art room, a gym, an indoor pool, a playground, and nature-themed "pods" with more games, puzzles, toys, video games, and even a movie screen (tell me you didn't have to take a breath in between reading that list). For the hard-working parents (for whom I have such great respect and admiration), it's a chance for them to have a night to themselves. Furthermore, Jill's House is an incredibly safe place for these children. The intake coordinators are very detailed in recording each individual child's diet restrictions, medical concerns, and methods of communication. They also make sure to give the parents (and the child) a tour of the facility beforehand. The intake coordinators, then, propagate all of this information to the staff who work directly with the children. Now, the staff are a group of people who are not only efficient caretakers, but are also genuinely loving people. It's apparent that the children quickly form bonds with the staff and recognize them when they return. It's heartwarming to witness. I could go on and on, but (as another review has pointed out) it might be easier to just visit the website or call. Ultimately, this facility houses an amazing group of workers and a precious group of kids.

There's always a couple of old-timers sitting at the end of the bar, lamenting the youth of today, and retelling stories of their glory days. It's always lots of fun to listen, and sometimes the stories get funnier or grander with each retelling. For big games, the crowd grows and patrons root for their team, making the bar area roar with noise when someone scores. You know--just some good dudes. Breakfast is definitely the best meal at the Legion, unless there is a picnic barbecue. Farm-fresh eggs, grilled to order meats, pancakes and French toast. Breakfast sandwiches are pretty good as well and you just can't beat the price. $9 for steak and eggs with a sirloin as big as my palm with fingers extended. If you're a veteran looking for a community legion hall where everyone knows everyone and you're never a stranger, give post 180 a try. Chances are, you'll feel right at home from the first moment you walk in.

Dear American Legion Hqtrs,…read more The Commander of the Sons from Post 180, in Vienna Virginia was harassing and threatening. This is completely unacceptable. I don't appreciate being cussed at and threatened. This all occurred because of their inability to locate the on loan Painting. I have attempted to contact the Post Commander about this with no success. I notified the Chief of Police in Vienna Virginia as well as the Mayor and Town Manager. If this is an example of your leadership, then I recommend training in civility. Dave At appx 5:40 pm , Saturday 24 August 2019, I went inside Post 180 to check on status of my membership card. I've been waiting since March this year. I've been a Sons Member in the past. I sent a check for $40.00 then after two months of waiting, sent cash and asked for my check to be sent back, which they did. The person serving at the bar, looked at two of the members, one of which was Phil Dunn, the other, the Commander of the Sons. I asked Phil if he was concerned about my puppy and pulled out my ADA paperwork. The Sons Commander started yelling at me and cussing telling me to "get the hell out of his post, I'm the Commander and you're not a member." I said I sent my $40.00 to which he replied it was sent back to me. I said it was never sent back. He then repeated "get the hell out of my post. I'm calling 911." I never raised my voice. I told Phil I was not combative. The Sons Commander said "You have your 'Gxxx Dxxx' painting. Get the hell out of here." I had provided on loan, a Giclee Painting of which was no longer there and upon inquiry, several times, finally reached the Post 180 Commander, Jason at Viva Vienna. A week or so later when checking on my membership card, the giclee painting was at the bar area. No one had contacted me. Angel, at the bar presented it back to me. Maybe as a result of this, they're reflecting their own embarrassment but it's not acceptable to treat anyone like that. I felt threatened and harassed. Dave Minyard

The staff explained they prepare omakase for a set number of guests, so they couldn't accommodate us last-minute. That said, the manager and his staff, our wonderful server completely turned the experience around with their kindness. They comped part of our meal, brought out desserts for my husband's birthday, and even treated me to a mocktail. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made the night feel really special. The service was warm and attentive, and we still had an amazing time. I've already booked omakase for next week and can't wait to come back! The place has great vibes. Highly recommend!! At least not in the DMV area where there are simply so many better options. Some friends and I were finally special enough to be granted a reservation and the whole experience was meh. I was a bit late so I checked in at Wren and then was walked back to the elevator to go up to their gym. From there you walk to a door. Once I got there and pulled on the door, a very dissatisfied hostess warned me not to do that. She walked me in and pointed me to an area but that wasn't even where my friends were sitting. Go figure! The decor left a lot to be desired and it was super bright inside. Right away the vibe was off. What speakeasy is bright? Definitely none that I've been to before. We each just ordered a drink and split an appetizer before dinner reservations at Wren. Once again, the drinks were not special at all. The Tokyo Reverie was somewhat drinkable, with Takumi being our least favorite. The server was somewhat friendly. Based on this experience, I have no desire to go back, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Services such as these might think they're protected because people who use them tend to not want to publicize that they use them. Well damn that. Unfair practices are unfair practices. I will dive on the grenade. I could delve into why I decided to subscribe to their services, but no excuses necessary. If you're reading this, it's probably because you yourself are considering it. I went on the website for Tysons Singles NOW (CheckMate4U) and filled out their little questionnaire. I was contacted quickly and it seemed that there were people who were passionate about their work. Things were looking up. Shortly thereafter, I met with a very nice, attractive young woman in a building in Tysons. She asked me some general questions, took a photo of me, and went over the costs. It was $250 to start and $70 a month for a "student" (I'm not a student but this is what I was offered, so it's probably what they offer everyone so they think they're getting a deal), $100 a month for their usual program, they also had a premier program. The program lasts for one year and you are guaranteed twelve dates over the course (more if you choose the premier package). I was told that I would create an online profile, then this woman and a board would vote and decide who I should be linked up with. What the hell; sounded good enough. Unfortunately shortly after signing up for their service, I experienced a personal tragedy. I knew that I wouldn't be looking to date for some time while I dealt with this, so I emailed the woman I had spoken with. I told her that I wanted to employ something that I saw in the fine print of the contract I signed- that I have the right to suspend services. She emailed me back promptly, sent her condolences, and agreed to suspend services. Several months went by. One day, i checked my credit card statement and saw that CheckMate4U had resumed billing my credit card for the past two months without me being notified. I emailed both the general email for CheckMate4U and my contact within the service. Neither bothered to reply. I was forced to dispute the charges and was successfully reimbursed by my credit card company. Fortunately I never got to the point where I employed CheckMate4U's services. If it was anything like their business practices in general, I would have dug myself much deeper into the hole.
