Yes, a review for the Concord Police. Saturday morning my husband and I are working in the garden. His phone is non stop ringing. It was his alarm company letting him know his office/warehouse the alarm was triggered. Then it was Concord PD. We jumped in the truck and headed there ( 5 minutes from home ). When we arrived there were 6 officers. A truck was still running with out keys. Trailers with spools of copper wire had been gone threw and 2 inside doors and one of the large roll up doors had been pried open. They assumed that people could still be in the building hiding. We watched as they searched everything top to bottom. Then my husband walked through with them for the report. I stayed across the street. My husband enjoyed laughing with them ( considering the situation ) and I guess they joked about the stress relieving funny things in James office like his F U button and his screaming goat. They were even sticking around to wait for camera footage so they could further scope the area and find these idiots. I know sometimes cops get a bad rap. But I am here to tell you today they came through with flying colors. Thank you. read more

They charge you for a signature on a fix it ticket. That is in addition to whatever you have to pay the court. Absolutely ridiculous.

Consistently unhelpful. Operators accuse you of obstructing justice because they either don't enjoy serving the community or are just disrespectful. Officers are hit or miss, but most couldn't apprehend their own left foot if their pensions depended on it. I stopped hoping they would keep the community safe long ago. read more

And Chief, it would appear you are so intent on keeping with the good old boys because "he didn't die in the line of duty in concord" I hope you are ashamed of the example you have set for your agency. The worst department in the Bay Area. They will do ANYTHING except help someone in need. They'll breach your rights, illegally arrest you with no evidence, threaten you, break in your car and steal things, slander you, and they'll laugh the whole way to their family's about it. Don't call them for help. They will only show up 10% of the time, and when they do show up, they make everything worse every time. The dispatcher is a brainless cunt with no concern for anyone. She couldn't care less if you're in danger, dying, ect. We should have torn that station down and expanded clayton police into concord, at least we'd get some help when needed. Totally agree with the comments of Concord PD being the worst police dept. It is the worst in California, and like one of the comments also noted, I would give them zero vs one star if I could. Very discretionary, something they would charge an indigent or an unhoused individual with, if someone they don't want to hold accountable commits hundred times worse than that, Concord PD will go to any length to not do anything even if it means bashing the victim. Lawsuits against Concord PD including by its own employees is spot on. Those who are calling for oversight should be heard. A city counsel noted there are residents who would like an oversight. I would gladly join and would also want to see the records of misconduct and also request an audit of who they choose to charge while they go to egregious lengths to let way worse go unaccountable if they choose to! My elderly mother was stalked by my neighbors. They chased her and she had to scream for help. The cops came and didn't investigate. Instead they made fun of the situation. I have them on camera saying "They call every so often. They look at each other wrong and oh, that's harassment." I've submitted videos of the neighbor beating their dog and the detective said he is working on a warrant for the dog- beater's arrest. A year later, nothing. My neighbors had threatened and harassed my family but I guess these are the type of "emergencies" one shouldn't be calling the Concord PD "every so often" for. Perhaps if instead of paying them their excessive overtime, we pay them by cases closed, they might be more responsive to citizen's complaints. They are after all city employees who should be held accountable to those they serve. So glad I've moved to a better city where my tax dollars actually fund a professional PD. read more

I've called the Concord police department several times regarding men drinking at the parking lot at our apartment complex. They never come even after I tell them the men drive after drinking. The last time I called they said "someone drinking at the apartment parking lot is the equivalent of someone drinking in front of their house" and to not call them again. The problem is one of the men has hit his wife outside twice and even threatened my neighbor who called the cops. The Concord police department doesn't do anything to help. It's so frustrating. We've called several times and they don't seem to care. read more

I just watched Sgt Cruz flip out on a guy in a parking lot. He was taking pictures of a row of police cars, and Cruz goes crazy, yelling and screaming, then he goes for his gun getting in the person's face. It looked like he might shoot the person... all the person did was take pictures. That's crazy! With all the police there seeing what Sgt Cruz did, not one tried to deescalate the situation. At 7:00am this morning Two officers (who wouldn't give me their information) Wrongful stoped my husband in Concord based on this description "Tall. Black. Male." The female officer drove a patrol car with the license plate number 1301207. That's all I have, but let me tell you what happened anyway because it's so wrong that it's almost funny. (Ps. I respect the law and our peace officers. I have officers in my family and this is not really funny) Apparently there was a hit and run this morning. 15 minutes prior to my husband walking to his car. (He was on his way to work) Here was the officers theory. (My assumption because it's the only way to make sense of this) I believe the officers thought the person involved in the hit in run ran in the direction of my husband's parked car and when my husband walked to his car he was stopped and told he fit the bad guys description. I'm assuming they thought my husband had another car that he hit someone with one then ran off to get in a different car conveniently parked around the corner. In order for this theory to work he would've needed to do all this 30 minutes. So let me connect the dots for you. His car was not damaged and practically had ice on the window and when he was approached by the officers he told them he was on his way to work. He didn't run or anything and he had a uniform on. That means (#1) If he were evolved he would've been the owner of multiple cars. (We're young adults we don't have the money for that and when I arrived I provided them with our address... pretty clear we don't have the funds to have multiple cars) (#2) if my husband was involved that means he would've decided to walk back to the area of the incident, casually walking past officers in his uniform to a completely different car. How convenient and also very dumb. (Unfortunately I'm sure some criminal has done that before.Thus, why the officers took that precaution) and number (#3) when I arrived to where they were I asked what was going on and the female officer stated that the only description she had was they were looking for a tall black male. For those of you who do not know. That's not a description -- it's actually profiling. (A tall back male with light colored jeans or glasses or red shoes is a description) And if we were using our thinking caps we would know that that didn't make any sense at all. Lastly, when I arrived, I was also questioned. I was asked if someone stole my car (she was Implying that someone took my car and did it. They were just saying random things) THEY HAD NO DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTUAL CAR if they did they would've or should've disclosed that. Or maybe they knew he wasn't the right person the whole time and they just wanted to follow through with the random stop. So the poor victim came by to Identify my husband. The officers were obviously wrong. No apology. NO card. Nothing. They just drove away extremely fast. I feel terrible about the hit and run victim and I know officers are only human so we all make mistakes. Just please don't be a jerk about it because it wouldn't be funny if it were happening to your loved one. Some people live in fear of the police for this very reason. Scared they will be wrongfully accused of a crime they didn't commit. Or scared they will be shot for no reason at all. This is such a sad world. I hope they find who they are looking for. Situations like this make me wish common sense could be taught. This is not a message to discredit the concord police. I just want to share a story that I hope all parties should learn from, but unfortunately I can't teach my husband how to not be a tall black male. read more

So one day I lost my driver's license. Scratch that, I gave my license to my honey to carry for me when we went for a long walk and somewhere along the way, he dropped it. He felt horrible about it. I obviously assumed it was gone forever, especially after our unsuccessful retracing of our steps, and promptly made an appointment at DMV to get a new one. Then, almost a week later (and prior to my DMV appt), I get a call from my MIL that a detective from the Concord Police Department had called their house to say that they had my license. Keep in mind that I still have no idea how they reached my MIL. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised that the detective was so committed to finding me. It must have been a slow week. I immediately called and spoke to the detective (I feel bad that I forgot his name) and appreciated his attention to the matter and his sense of humor. I inquired on how my license arrived to them and he said that it was turned in. THANK YOU, Nice Stranger! I was able to go the station the next morning to pick it up. I walked up to the front desk and the officer asked if she could help me. I said, "I'm here to pick up my license," and she said, "I'm SO glad we found you! I LOVE happy endings!" Again, it must have been a slow week if everyone was involved in (and so excited about) reuniting me with my license. I had my passport ready to go, as advised by the detective. The officer just looked at me and said, "I don't need your passport. I have your drivers license." Well played. Concord PD, plus Nice Stranger, saved me a trip to DMV. Five stars! read more

It's hard to judge an entire police department based on the few interactions you have with its officers. If you're lucky in life, you hardly have any interaction at all. I have not been so lucky, but the majority of the officers and administrative staff I have had contact with in this department performed their duty with a high level of competence and a heart for the community. It's a tough job that they do. I had a family member who was on the force, and I remember the stress he was under when he was on the job. My contacts have been mostly with the administrative staff. My mother needed a document for some application she needed to submit, and it was a brief and pleasant visit. When my father passed away, we had what seemed like 50 pill bottles of different prescription medication. The staff at the police station were very kind and compassionate when I went to drop them off in their receptacles. It seems the nature of the police officer's role changes every decade or so. This decade is probably heavily influenced by Black Lives Matter movement and video technology. Heaven help the officer simply doing his job and someone posts a cell phone video of him, making him out to be an asshole. Certain members of the public, quite a few of them it seems, can't differentiate an officer shooting a fleeing suspect in the back from a distance and an officer simply shutting down a food cart vendor for not having proper licenses. Every perceived offense is stoked into outrage for a protest. (For heaven's sake, people can get seriously sick from improperly cooked mystery meat.) I do wonder if we are losing good officers to the higher scrutiny we place on them now. I had a recent encounter with two officers that might indicate that staffing might be the current challenge for local police departments. Two officers came to my home. One was a woman, and the senior of the two. Her performance of her duty was exemplary. I was left with the feeling that preserving the peace was a priority. She was professional and respectful. I can only hope that there are many other officers like her. Her partner on the call, in contrast, seemed like a Make-A-Wish ride-along. I left that encounter thinking that this officer is going to get someone hurt, and good officers will have to decide whether to do their duty or cover for a fellow officer. So, mothers, fathers, raise up good kids who know the difference between right and wrong, who seek good in their community, who learn impartiality, who love and trust the laws that allow all of us to prosper in peace. Let your kids know that being a police officer is where they can contribute in one of the most significant ways in the lives of others. It is still a high calling to wear the uniform, despite the very few who dishonor it. And for the good officers out there, in uniform and out, responding to calls or serving the public at the station, you are very much appreciated. read more

The Concord PD budget went from 40 million to 60 million in just 4 years, the officers that work at this department make a fortune. yet when you want to get a ticket signed off they charge you 25 bucks, even though many PD's don't charge you anything. I don't think this is a nice PD at all, they are gouging residents on wages, and benefits, even though Concord doesn't even have that much crime. Shameful. As a longtime Concord resident I am disgusted our PD continually fleeces taxpayers. read more

They keep their lobby closed and locked during normal business hours. You are at the mercy of one lobby telephone, and they do not provide service to anyone who has been here for over an hour. One woman was released from custody nearly two weeks ago and still can't redeem her personal effects, including her wallet! read more

First off, this a police department, not a business so quit acting like you've been hurt by customer service they aren't here to be your friend, they are here to fix sh!t and assist when no one else can. Second, the experience with the department has been good. Officer Greenfield has been awesome to me during my accident and very helpful thereafter. I think this is one of the better police departments I have had the pleasure to have working with me (if you want a$$ holes swing over to walnut creek). I see the bad reviews and it amazes me, but then again I can't expect much less from a bunch of over entitled b!tch!ng liberals who think their accidents and theft is more important than shootings and murders. My boyfriend was arrested a week ago and I had called to try and find out of his car was towed from the location he was picked up from. The lady I spoke to at the front desk was not only rude but was not helpful in the slightest. Too lazy to go ask if his car was towed and had to audacity to tell me to take a breath. The last thing I wanted to deal with in a rough situation like that was the disrespect and grotesque behavior of these people that were working that day. They then decided to tell my boyfriend that I was "harassing the front desk," when I was just trying to get his car location and key so we could remove it from that location. read more

For the 10,000 time today I was wrongfully pulled over by the concord cops only because of the car I drive. When I asked him why he pulled me over, He told me, "the only reason why you stopped at the stoplight was because you saw me behind you." 1.) I made a complete stop. 2.) you don't fuckin know me so don't assume anything. I always make a complete stop at an intersection. He then told me that my brake lights were out, which is funny because I have a new car. Once I got home I checked to see if my brakes were really out and surprise, surprise, it turns out he's lying out of his ass like they all do, my brake lights are in perfect working condition. After asking for my license and registration he then asked for my personal cell phone number.....since when is that protocol....? So I got a parking ticket from Sun Valley Mall for $63 for not having my registration sticker on. Darn. To get it fixed, I had to go down to a Police Station to get it checked and signed off and then send it in with a $10 check. The first place I came to was the Concord Police Station, where the front desk officer was chatting on his cell phone. After he got off and apologized, I told him my situation. He informed me that they started charging $15 to have it checked off for Concord residents and $20 for out-of-town residents. He also told me that they just don't have the staff to do it for 'free'. However during this time, he could have stepped outside for 1 minute to checked my vehicle already. Since I wasn't willing to pay for it, I'd asked about other police stations where they don't charge. He told me to go to Pleasant Hill ( they wont charge), but not to go to Pittsburgh (they'll charge about $25). I'm glad I went to Pleasant Hill Police Station. The lady there was much more helpful. read more

Our group was instructed on their Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct, their Mission, Vision & Values as well as the policing and mission overviews. Each unit and how they work was explained to us, including their Field Operations, SWAT team, Support Operations, and even their K-9 unit. It was not only very informative but it was fun. I'm glad I live in Concord and have this department looking out for me! read more

If I could give this Police department 0 stars I would. Every time I have called 911 and their non emergency line (which have been very very rare), dispatch has been nothing but rude. Placing me on hold for what feels like an infinite amount of time. The woman who picked up the non emergency line today immediately put me on hold after I told her about suspicious activity in our neighborhood. 10 minutes went by and still she had not picked up the phone. . Concord dispatch should have more empathy. Just FYI, I waited 25 minutes on hold and the dispatch lady never picked up the phone again. read more

I work in a skilled nursing facility and I called the police because of a patient who is a threat to the other resident and to the staff. Pt hitting people throwing things . Unfortunately a police came and rudely told us that how much your getting in your paycheck thats her pointing to the patient money. Repeatedly he said that i know a lot about nursing because my mom is a nurse for 30 plus years. Im a nurse and he could talk to me professionally he should not make us feel that calling our police department is a waste of their time. As a nurse i just dont think about this particular pt well being but also to the 79 other patient i have in the building. I think so highly of men in uniform cant believe i will ever experience this. I know their job is to protect us while my job is to ensure all my patients are safe. read more

Car was broken into in my own driveway, with over $1000 worth of goods stolen, and though the officer who took the phone call was pleasant enough, offered no help, no inquiries regarding any camera(s) which might help catch the creep, no guidance, but instead just a written report of the incident. Looks like the only thing Concord police is concerned with is ticketing motorists. I offered to drive my car to the station to have it dusted for prints, which was received with an emphatic "No, we don't dust for car burgs". It is extremely disappointing if this is our city tax dollars at work... it's bogus. read more

Compared to San Bruno PD (excluding officer Baker who is also great), Concord PD is pretty great. My complaint has to do with the rather nonchalant voice at the other end of the non-emergency number. My ex-husband has violated my domestic violence restraining order, more times than I can count. I was told to file a report online. When I was contacted by an officer to follow-up, I was told that DV restraining orders are much more serious and that I should have come into the station. One of the themes of the other reviews was crappy front desk service. If I were CPD, I'd take a look at that. read more

The lady who answers the phone at the department was not sympathetic at all and refused to transfer my call to a detective when I desperately needed to talk to one about someone dangerous in my life. When I told her I truly believe I could be in danger with this person, she took it upon herself to say, "You're being dramatic." So unprofessional and rude. The abrupt manner of speech with this woman is beyond me. Oh, and the cops are no help either. They didn't do shit to help me with this person harassing and following me. They are lazy, unprofessional, and careless. This police department doesn't do anything to help. Concord is expensive to live in, and this is the service we get? read more

As a Police Department they do an excellent job on policing the community. From a leadership prospective I feel they have issues. I brought to their attention after they had given praise to a former cadet for graduation the police academy and being hired by San Pablo. This I commend them for doing. At the same time the failed to give praise to an additional former cadet that graduated from he same police academy and was hired by Novato Police. I commented on the CPD Facebook page about the mistake and have received no reply even though all other comments made were acknowledged by CPD. I sent an email to the administrative division of CPD about this error and included information and pictures. To this I have not received any replies back. I feel I am being totally ignored on this issue and Concord Police Department is showing their bias and disrespect to individuals the seem to forget. read more
