Ok... down to the wire, and it's time for the smog check. Went to my normal site... they couldn't fit me in. A friend recommended this place, and I'm extremely grateful. I've used the gas station before, but never realized there was a smog station in the back .The entrance looks sketchy, so I was a little bit leery, but once back there. Mr. Loc helped me out. He was great!! The car had just come from the shop and they did a shoddy job. He showed me the problems, which affected the computer hook up. No idea about the gas part, but the guy doing the smog was great. He was one of the friendliest people i have ever met. Was a delight to be around while he did my test. Also even with that, he was fast and efficient, and kept me informed of timing along the way. Loc saved me $100s. Two years in a row! Last year I took my high-mileage 2002 expedition here for a standard smog. It failed, but Loc told me exactly where the problem was (bad hose) and took the time to look up the part which was easy to change, but would have been impossible for me to figure out without a mechanics test. So this year before I had a chance to get it smog fed, the car started running really rough. I hate taking this old car to a mechanic because it's so expensive just to get a diagnosis. But this was bad and couldn't wait. Then I remembered how helpful Loc was and went to see him yesterday. Sure enough he failed it and showed me that one of my 8 cylinders was misfiring. Then for the next 10 min he showed me the most likely causes (spark plug or ignition coil). He showed me which cylinder and coil it was. Drew a diagram. Looked up the part number and even showed me issues I needed to avoid if I had to change the plug ( which is hard to do on this engine). I got the coil since that was less likely to go wrong in the process and that fixed it! Can't say enough about Loc. See him. Recommend him to your friends. read more

This is my second time taking in my vehicle to this place. The first vehicle I had an issue that I needed to fix before passing smog. This is how all Smog checks should be. Friendly, honest, and efficient service. Loc got me out of there in 30 minutes. Applied the coupon without any hassles. Other smog shops with coupons (smog center is one of them), my cars would pass, but they would fail the gas cap test. Found that they would intentionally break the gas cap (not a coincidence this happened with 2 other cars). Thus, having me to go out and buy a new gas cap and pay for a retest. I love this place! Which is odd when speaking about a garage/smog testing shop, but here's why. I brought my car in today, and actually thought I was at Bayside Smog, where I had an appointment. (Sorry Bayside!) The technician was very polite and courteous. The owner (and his mother!) greeted me, offered water, and asked if I needed anything while I waited. Very nice people. And why do I love this place? After I paid, I left my credit card there. After an hour, I realized i left my card there and went back. The owner had called the credit card company, and helped put a temporary hold on my card until I went back and picked it up. If you make an appointment with these guys be sure you are talking to the guy that does the smog test and not some other employee. I made an appointment for 3PM this afternoon and drove over there during the beginning of commute traffic. Took almost a half hour to get there and when I did the smog guy said I didn't have an appointment... said I must have talked to the wrong person because he was out to lunch when I called. They did have the best price of the smog stations I checked and I see a lot of other positive reviews so I guess I just got stuck talking to the wrong guy. read more

I got an excellent service from the Smog technician Lok who is so knowledgeable and experienced. They had a "Pass or free retest" offer. I had to take my car more than 3-4 times for Retest. The smog technician gave me prices and also asked if I had a coupon told him no. He said I could use Yelp and get a discount. I showed up. No wait,cheaper than the one I used to go to and told me that if o didn't pass they would retest within30 days for free. I passedThat was great news because the other place charged my 55.00 with a coupon. I didn't pass and said I could come back after I drove 200 miles and pay 31.00 to retest.
