A group of friends and I arrived at the Concourse one Friday night around 10pm, and there was no line outside. Relieved, we went downstairs and made our way straight for the ball pit. Surprisingly there was no line at the ball pit either! The ball pit was huge, and in it there were probably 10-12 other people, but still a lot of room for everybody to spread out and have fun. After a while, we got ourselves out of the ball pit and to the dance floor. The dance floor was filled with people, but also not super crowded and the DJ was playing a mix of everything from early 2000s to the current hit songs. There are also table tops outside of the dance area where you can just sit/stand. Overall, I had low expectations coming in, with the low yelp rating and all, but had a great time and would definitely return. read more

Interesting bar that keeps a line out of the door just for aesthetics. Clientele is diverse, kind of reminds me of Coda with the lights, dancing and dance floor/stage area. Drinks are super reasonable. Ball pit was fun at the beginning, but at the end there was over an hour wait to spend 5 minutes, and the people going inside were pretty much boring and just trying to take instagram photos. Lockers in the back make it easy to keep your stuff in one place, but the venue lets in so many people, the lines outside and the lines for the bathroom are like concert size. I'd say the lights, fuzzy walls, and vibe are good for chilling, but dancing, not so much. We had a blast here! The atmosphere was fantastic! The dance area is soooooo big! And love the ball pit! Expect that our phones are taken by staff which is reasonable, in case the lost in the pool. Also they have a ball pit which you will find on every Philadelphian college girl's Instagram, but the line is a bit long since they limit the amount of people who can be in it. I'm guessing they were going for an adult Chuck E Cheese type deal. There's the infamous ball pit (don't worry, it doesn't get too crowded in there, they stagger the times you're allowed in) and a slide from the entrance to the dance floor. The problem with having a grown up Chuck E Cheese is that, as an adult, you really start to over think things. Like what else is floating around in that ball pit? Drinks were, as expected, waaaay overpriced and waaaay too weak. $40 in I should not even remember how much I spent on drinks, instead I was on the dance floor calculating how much I could still spend that month and not overdraft. This place is just alright, nothing special. I used to work behind the bar in one of the Penn Centers, so I've come in for their dirt cheap happy hour a few times. Drinks were pretty strong. The decor is quirky, and the lights are dark. The ball pit looks disgusting despite the website's claims that they clean it once a week. Great dance club with a very young crowd! Facilities: Concourse is located underground and has pretty decent facilities. While by no means luxurious - bathrooms, furniture, and fixtures are acceptable and relatively clean. This is the place you go to dance your heart out with your friends, not to drop money on bottles. There is a slide at the entrance and a ball pit which is a lot of fun - recommend doing the ball pit early as the line gets longer the later you go in the night. There's also a hot dog stand which is great fun to grab on your way out. There is an upstairs level open to all which has a second bar and gives a nice view of the dance floor. This is usually much less crowded and has couches and tables to chill at. Dance floor gets crowded quickly and there doesn't seem to be a VIP area. Drinks: Drinks are decently priced for a club ($5 Yeungling isn't bad at all). Bar is fast and tends to pour fairly - I don't feel like I'm getting ripped off on cocktails. I'd recommend going with whatever's on special. Security & Staff: Security at the door is fast and polite. Other staff including bar-tenders and inside security are friendly and seem on top of things - I had no out-of-the-ordinary safety concerns here. Staff mainly seems concerned with making sure everyone is served efficiently. There was a homeless person working as a bathroom attendant in the men's room for tips which was unusual but he seemed harmless enough. I don't know where to start with the Concourse Dance Bar but it was my first and last visit. If what I witnessed is the daily crowd for this spot, its a time warp back to my freshmen year in college. I love a great night out just as anyone else filled with drinks, dancing and fun. But Concourse is a waste of an a valuable location. The entire night reminded me of a "frat house" house party. Within three hours, I saw the remains of vomit over the dance floor and more spilled drinks I could count. The drinks were sub-par and didn't taste good at all. You want to stand on a side for a second to chat with your friends? Nope. The place is so loud you cannot hear yourself think or stand the constant barrage of people knocking into you. The place isnt built well for music as it sounds "loud" and you can go deaf the end of the night. Now, the ball pit was fun but not for over a 2 hour wait for 5 minutes. NOPE. I know everyone has different views on a 'dance bar' but this isnt mine. Concourse is another bar, with a cover, packed to the brim to people. If that's your thing, you'll have a blast. read more

Went here for a night out while visiting a friend in philly. Went to the bathroom quickly and was met at the sink by 2 bouncers saying "I know what you did in there you need to leave" and they continually accused me of doing coke (which I've never done in my entire life) and were extremely aggressive and rude towards me and escorted me out of the club. Then the main bouncer proceeded to take my picture and told me "I'm going to remember you for how disrespectful you are" when I was doing nothing but trying to have a conversation and offered to let them search me multiple times which they refused. The staff was extremely disrespectful and rude and continually laid hands on me to escort me out when I was fully cooperating (even though I did nothing wrong to actually be kicked out). I will not be going here again, these bouncers clearly have an ego problem. read more

I went for the instagram/boomerang opportunity and I can't say that I'll be rushing to go back. First, there's a $5 cover. I don't get places in Philly that charge cover; to me it just feels out of place. My friend and I went early-ish on a Friday night (10:30) after reading from reviews that the line gets ridiculous. After talking to the bouncer, though, there's really no way to tell what time the line's going to get long so you kind of just have to take your chances. Luckily, when we went, there was no line to get in. I also just want to take a moment to point out how it's confusing to find the entrance to this place. It's on 16th street between JFK and Market despite the address being listed as Market St. But I guess if you go when the line is long you won't have any trouble finding the entrance. Ok, then you get inside, and the place is actually quite large and, because it's so popular right now, it's filled with everyone and anyone. Obviously, the crowds mentioned in other reviews predominate, but honestly everyone is there. My friend and I tried the dance floor. It was overcrowded and sticky from everyone's spilled drinks. We lasted about 20 seconds out there. We spent most of our time in the upstairs bar. Space to dance, quieter, and ample position for people watching on the dance floor. I will say, I'm obsessed with the organized process to get in the ball pit though! You go and basically make a reservation for the pit. They take your number so that instead of waiting in line, you're free to enjoy what the rest of the place has to offer and the text you when it's your turn. When you show up, you have about 5 min in the pit (which sounds short but honestly you don't need a ton of time in there, the novelty wears off quick). They have a bag drop system that can also hold your drinks for you that is monitored by staff and then a place for your shoes that is moderately watched (but no "coat check" type system like that for your bags/drinks) so maybe don't wear your nicest pair of shoes here. I had fun and I think this would be a cool spot to go out with a bunch of people, but once you've tried the ball pit the novelty of the place has worn off and really you're just at another dance club in a basement that has a more lax dress code. read more

This venue has many pros and cons and is definitely growing in attendance because of the online videos about it all over Facebook. It's a place you have to visit once but definitely don't need to again. This place went from awesome to "meh" to awesome over the course of a few hours. I went there on its second night of operation. Got there around 9:30pm. No line, $5 cover. This place has a ball pit and it's fantastic. Get there early so you can take carefully-placed pics of your girl in the ball pit with her friends. Literally it's a sea of girls posing for the perfect shot in a sea of balls. The bar: the place is huge, and it gets PACKED! Once it got crowded it was very difficult to get a drink. They need a lot more bartenders and a more efficient system. With every drink order the bartender had to input a Mission-Impossible-like code into the computer and it took forever. I assume this will be fixed as time goes on. The dance floor: early in the night there was zero consistency. It went from punk rock to hip hop to songs way too slow to dance to. Then thankfully someone pressed play on what sounded like a 15 year-old Japanese Hipster's iPhone playlist and it got a lot better. If you like a bunch of uncoordinated drunk white people dancing and frat guys yelling every lyric, this is your spot. This place was filled with people of all colors and shapes and sizes. It's an impressive place. I left around midnight and the line to get in was RIDICULOUS. Get. There. Early. All the staff from the bouncers to the ball pit staff to the bartenders were very cool and happy. I'd give this place five stars but for the drink wait times once it got crowded. I would absolutely go again when I'm in philly. I'm no expert, but hire more bartenders and get a cohesive music plan and this place is good to go. Thanks for a great time! read more

I would not call this place a "dance bar". Is it a bar? Yes. Is it good for dancing? No. They have a fabulous dance area with a slide that leads into it, but a vast majority of the music played is not dance music. The highest BPM music they played was "Say Aah" by Trey Songz (FYI 94 BPM). Perhaps I may have gone on an off night for a Friday night, but it nonetheless was disappointing. Expectations were set, expectations were not met. Save yourself $5 and go somewhere else like iCandy, Woody's, CODA, etc. P.S. DJ is not receptive towards taking song requests from patrons. Tried asking if he would mind playing a song for my friends and I - was giving a flat no. P.S.S. They have a ball pit for those who are interested! You get a 10 minute session before you have to let the next group in, but you can get back in line to go for another round. Amazing club in the middle of Philly! They have great drinks, great music, and great attractions! I'm so glad that I was able to find this club when visiting Philly! I've been to club after club after club looking for a nice, popular club that actually plays good music, and is it! It has amazing pop and r&b/rap music and basically the entire thing is a dance floor, so there's plenty of space for you and your friends! They also, as you probably have heard, have a ball pit and it is so much fun. I would just say if you're trying to go in the pit come earlier rather than later because I'd you come late in the night it will be centuries before you're allowed in. Would recommend! My friends and I had a great time at this bar on a Friday. It was really spacious until like 11:30 PM. We got there early (9:00 PM), knowing we had to in order to get into the ball pit without having to wait a long time. The ball pit was super fun and very clean, but of course wear socks if you can! At 9 PM yes it was somewhat empty, but the crowd there was like young professionals mainly and it was nice. The lighting/music/etc kept it not weird feeling. By 10 it was hopping with plenty of people and the dance floor really filled in. First off, come here if you're bored and have nothing else to do. The drinks are okay and the experience is fine if you've never been to Philly and like mediocre experiences. There is a lack of communication between staff as to what to do. I'm not asking for privileges, PLEASE just be consistent if I paid money to come in. For example, for the ball pit: Attendee: Go to the bar to be on the wait list *after waiting at the bar for 10 minutes* Bartender: It's packed, asked the attendee on how to get in. Us: They told us to come here. Bartender: I know it's 1am and every bar closes at 2am except for Voyeur but come here in half an hour. (Not verbatim but ... you know) ??? Come here for a disappointing photo op, if you have an extra cash to spend on the cover. Missed out on overcrowded frat parties? Come here! Just make sure you have strong enough elbows to shove through to the dance floor with 7/10 music (who knew 2016 music was still a thing at clubs?????)
