My sister is local to the area and insisted that our trip to visit her included an evening at Time. We arrived on Monday night around 9:30-10 pm. Everyone we interacted with was absolutely wonderful and pleasant, ranging from the team members to our fellow patrons. I had a gin and Sprite to drink and I ordered the burger for some grub. The drink was standard but on the strong side. I enjoyed the burger very much and found the fries to be hot and crispy, just as a good shoestring fry should be. I've been to TIME multiple times over the last month alone and have always loved the food, music, atmosphere, and service, which is exactly why I chose to bring friends visiting from out of town here on a Friday night. Unfortunately, this was by far the worst experience I've had. We had a 7 PM reservation and arrived at 7:15 PM. I acknowledge that we were late and apologized to the host. However, we arrived within the stated grace period. When we checked in, the hostess explained that because we arrived later within the grace period, our 90-minute seating window would still end based on the original reservation time. We acknowledged that and had absolutely no issue with it. What made the experience uncomfortable was how aggressively we were reminded about the time throughout the entire meal. We were reminded at least 5-6 separate times how much time we had left. Comments like "just so you know you have 25 minutes left" and "our next party is coming in 5-10 minutes" made it feel like staff was actively trying to rush us out before our reservation time had even ended. Mind you, we already understood the policy. One reminder would have been enough. Instead, it completely changed the energy of the evening and made us feel unwelcome and pressured to leave. We had originally planned to stay through our reservation and then move to the bar for the live music afterward, but after being repeatedly rushed, we decided to leave entirely and spend the rest of the night elsewhere. The most disappointing part was the interaction with the manager, Eric. Rather than listening or showing any understanding, he immediately became defensive and aggressive. He repeatedly insisted we were "15-20 minutes late," which was simply not true -- we arrived during the stated grace period. The issue was never the policy itself. It was the way we were treated throughout the night. It's unfortunate because this has genuinely been one of my favorite spots in Philly, and I've recommended it to multiple people. But this experience left a really bad impression, especially when bringing guests from out of town. read more

My first experience at Time was a good one! I came with a few friends before a performance at the Walnut Street Theater. It was a quick walk to the theater. The bartender area has table and bar seating. It has a moody vibe with dark lighting and candles. Time has a Happy Hour on Sunday. We sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and friendly. She was the only server for the bar. It was a good deal! Wines including champagne were $5, a few beers for $5 and $10 for select cocktails. The champagne was good. The bartender suggested a sugar cube and splash of bitters. It took it up a notch! The food was a great deal! Mussels with toasted bread for $9, whipped feta with grapes and nuts for $9 and 2 pork sliders for $5 were all delicious!! I will definitely be back again! I have never been to Time for Happy Hour. This was my go to spot for drinking at night back in the day. This place wasn't as crowded when we came at 5p on a Sunday but suddenly it picked up. I like how the bar was a long rectangle size. There was plenty of space for everyone to sit comfortably at the bar. The happy hour menu is very decently priced. I got the John Daly which was vodka, lemon, and black tea syrup. I felt like it was too sugary but it was a decent size. I had a champagne as well which was pretty nice. The champagne here is interesting because they put a sugar cube in there. Food wise we shared the pulled pork sliders, whipped feta, and half pound mussels. For 5 dollars, the pulled pork sliders is a must get. I really liked the bread and the pickles. The half pound mussels was really small. We were shocked it was a half a pound. It was pretty good and had some spice to it. I really liked how this dish had hot Italian sausage. We also had the whipped feta. I liked the pecans that were on top of that dish. read more

Used to only come here for drinks but the food got better recently!!! I love coming here for live music (I go to jazz bars all over philly) but time is my go-to. The inside is romantic and chill and perfect for the music experience. Service is always good and really i never had a bad time at time. read more

What a cool bar / restaurant / live music venue. TIME has it all. I admit that I haven't had the opportunity to experience all of the outstanding options at TIME but I certainly will be back to follow up. On the first floor they have two separate rooms. When you walk in and to the left is a laid back old school cool jazz bar with a number of 2 and 4 top tables as well as a large C shaped bar with stools around. To the right, is a traditional bar with a bunch high top seating and a large L shaped bar. It there, the music can vary widely. I haven't been upstairs but I'm told that they have an additional venue where more contemporary jazz is offered depending on the band playing. On top of all this, they have a large array of alcohol offerings and some excellent food to boot. I had the Caesar salad with shrimp which was outstanding. I can't wait to go back and sample many other things at TIME. Give them a shot. read more

The musical acts books are always great, and the open mic portion is so creative, and it's enjoyable to see local talent. The bartending staff, and door security is kind and engaging with good customer service! The other side which is a completely different vibe is cool, music is good (touch tunes mainly). The cocktails are great, and they have a nice selection on both the cocktail and food menu! I always recommend Time when anyone comes into town and asks for live music. It's also located in a great walking distance of other local bars and lively establishments. It's recommended to get in early so you can have a good seat (view) at the bar. Was very excited to visit here for a much-needed night of live music! I am a huge jazz fan and was very pleased with the results. Our reservation was for 6pm on Saturday, which unfortunately is the only night they do not have happy hour - will keep that in mind for next time. There was a three-piece band (bass, drums, sax) playing until 9 or 10 with another band after. While there is not a cover at the door, there is a $5/person live music charge added to the bill. I definitely recommend making a reservation, as both the tables and bar filled up pretty quickly (unsurprisingly for a Saturday night!) Thank you to our server, (Mitchell?) who took good care of us. It seemed like he was the only server for the entire seated section; props to him for his work! I was mostly disappointed in the experience because it is a cocktail bar, and we were disappointed in our cocktails orders. I ordered a dry gin martini with a twist, but it was dirty. My friend ordered an espresso martini, but it was clearly not made with real espresso, as it completely lacked any foam (a staple in any espresso martini, as the drink foams when it's shaken). Our second round of different drinks were a bit better, but it definitely put a damper on the evening. Please note that the menu is pretty limited; as someone who doesn't eat seafood, I felt as though nearly all of the appetizer options were completely off the table for me, which was a bit of a bummer. Ended up getting the fried chicken sandwich, which was very good! I would definitely order this again and the seasoned fries were a nice touch. A little peeved that there was a two dollar charge for extra ranch... I could understand fifty cents or maybe let a dollar slide... but two dollars? I know the overhead on that is not nearly comparable... not a fan, Time. Next Time, I'll be back for the jazz, with a different cocktail order and no extra ranch. read more

We came to get some food and drinks on a Monday night. The deviled eggs have lots of flavor. The order had two eggs cut in half. We also got the Mac and cheese which was very cheesy and delicious. Our drinks were standard. The bar wasn't very clean and the bar tender was cleaning anything off. Someone spilled a drink on the chair next to me, and it remained there until another patron came in and had to ask for some napkins to clean it. We went Nextdoor to the music room and enjoyed the band. They had 8 or so people in the band! The crowd was loving it and I didn't want to leave. I was looking for a low-key spot with live music and good food to gather in celebration of a friend's bday so made reservations here for a party of 4 (although only 3 were able to make it). We were seated on the "live music" side of the restaurant and the ambiance on this side was really nice - quaint (but seating wasn't overcrowded) and dimly lit. Our waitress, Clarissa, was pleasant, attentive and observant. We ordered the Buffalo Brussel Sprouts and Mini Crab cakes for starters and each of us ordered the Short Rib dish for an entree; for drinks I ordered a Kiss from a Rose and the others in my party ordered a Smooth Criminal (I think). The starters were excellent and the drinks were good. The entree was under whelming but I was hungry so I finished it. Overall my experience was good, perhaps we chose the wrong entree but I would certainly come back. The music was great - I forgot to note that about halfway through our dining experience is when the live music started and the band sounded great; also, the volume of the music was not too loud. When the band wasn't playing recorded music played and that sounded good too and the volume was good. Prices were ok; do take note that the entry fee for listening to the live music is automatically added to your bill. read more

Nice ambiance with some cool local artwork/photos. Our waitress was wonderful. Friendly, engaging and just the right mix of attentive without being too much. The whipped feta app was amazing as our server suggested. The fried calamari was generous and above average. The min crab cakes were avg size but very good - flavorful. The burger cake recommended and was great - juicy with very good accompaniments. Only real negative was the walk to the bathroom and the bathroom itself. My favourite dinner in Philly! Philadelphia was not a pleasant trip in many respects. I visited for my birthday and the traffic and lack of parking kept me from visiting more than a few restaurants I wanted to. Before my Grim Philly tour and right after a torrential downpour, I was lucky enough to secure a parking spot allowing me to dine at Time. I love this place. It was one of my most favourite restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of dining at. The decor was classic and dark, just the way I love it. Dark wood and large timepieces on the walls coupled with vibrant art. A beautiful space. Happy hour was on when I arrived on a Sunday afternoon. I was able to order a delicious vodka cocktail named the Sweetums for $5 each. The drink was stiff and well worth the price. A little sweet and tasty. My server was named on my receipt as dining R. She was exceptional. She made me feel welcome and brought everything to the table (with I believe the chef) in great time. This venue does also offer live music, and since hubby plays in a band, I am a huge supporter of this. I didn't get to see live music this night, but love what they are doing with this. Carrot purée, crispy pancetta, grilled pineapple, pickled fresno chili, scallion, roasted garlic aioli, watercress (from the menu) Let me just tell you that this was one of the most amazing plates I've EVER ordered at a restaurant. The peppers brought the perfect amount of spice...not overwhelming. And you had the scallops and pineapple to cool it down. There were so many flavour profiles going on in this dish. It was nothing short of astounding. I didn't enjoy Philadelphia in general, but if I ever returned, I would do so to order this dish. I also ordered the Chocolate Pot de Creme for dessert...it was my birthday trip after all. So decadent and delicious. Hats off to the chef because they are excellent...a true tour de force. Wife and I came here to grab some food and listen to live jazz. Our new favorite spot when in Philadelphia! Food was amazing, the sauce that they use for their muscles is nothing that we have ever had and it was incredible! The service was great, the location is nice except for some of the seats were old with rips and padding showing but still comfortable. Next door they have a whiskey bar that has a menu that has an amazing collection. We came back the next night just to sit at the whiskey bar and have a few varieties of bourbons that the bartender curated for us. It sure why the reviews are not great as our experience was top notch. We wanted to listen to some jazz so we made a reservation and so glad we did. First off our server was fantastic. She was attentive and nice and was working hard. We felt completely taken care of. If you like whisky this is a great place. We ordered some drinks and some food. Their mussels were the best I have had. They were so different with a chile pepper sauce. Not spicy tho- just full of flavor. We also ordered the calamari which was nice and lightly breaded. The crab cakes were nicely flavored and we got the Mac and cheese to go. Which was very good! The jazz group was great. Again, the food, ambience and service was awesome. The next night we came back to just go to the whiskey bar. Our bartendar was awesome and did an "omakase" style tasting for my husband of some of his favorite brands. This was a great night too!! I bring out-of-towners here, and the Whiskey Bar (without live music) is a good neighborhood staple for simple drinks and good vibes. I've visited Time on several occasions now and one thing that I can say is the music acts are always STUPENDOUS. Whomever is in charge of booking the bands/acts does a fabulous job! I've never not been wowed by the music playing at Time. In fact it's so good that the music accounts for 2.5 of the three stars I'm giving. (Also the decor and lighting are a plus, and serve the ~vibe~ of the space well.) For the "negatives". The cocktails are sufficient but don't quite live up to the price point, and friendly service is a hit or miss. But, if you're really just coming for the music, this might not matter to you. If you plan on visiting for the Jazz, I highly suggest you reserve a table or get there early as space is VERY limited. So if you're thinking of just coming and seeing live music spur of the moment, be prepared to stand and consistently be in the way of servers and other patrons. We looked for seating on the restaurant side but they were all packed, so we headed over to the bar side and snagged a table. The space is nice and cozy, which was exactly what we were going for on a cold January evening. We found a seat at the bar with a direct view of the band and ordered the Time Signature Old Fashioned. The bartender immediately gave us waters and then prepared the drinks. She scorched the orange peel to draw out the flavor, which was pretty classy. My friend and I have always wanted to come here because we wanted to sit down with a drink and enjoy the live jazz, so we went a couple weeks ago. The jazz and atmosphere was excellent, we truly had the best time in that regard. The drinks however, were not it. I ordered an espresso martini and I really have to say that it was the worst espresso martini I've ever had. They should be fairly dark between the (freshly brewed!!) espresso and the espresso liquor, but this was a very light brown, rather clear drink. Espresso martinis need to have a layer of foam on the top, almost like a Guinness. This one did not have even a few bubbles on top, it was almost like they didn't even shake it. My friend ordered an extra dry martini and ended up with too much vermouth in her drink for it to be called dry. Now, we did order food and got the chicken sandwich, it was lovely. No complaints there, and like I mentioned before, the jazz was excellent. But truly, I've never had such a terrible espresso martini. read more

Had dinner, listened to "Garrett" jazz duo. Left generous tip on Cc. Imagine our surprise the next day to get an email from Resy saying since we were a no show they were charging the $20 fee. Call the restaurant-told they couldn't change it as it went to 3rd party. Indeed, Visa listed a phone/business in CA. When I called I was told they were an online food ordering company. So I'm thinking my CC to Time will be useless. What a Scam!! Was looking forward to going back the next time we are in Philly-but that's not happening. Ruined the memory read more
