Amazingly, the sun came out when they showed up. 2) They took a weedwacker to the edges of the driveway so they could seal coat the edges properly. They (Naperville Fireplace) said the tuckpointing looks good but what I need is a liner for the inside of the flue coming from my furnace and water heater (they are the third people to tell me that). When I asked if they thought the previous leaks in my basement were due to any type of mortar failure on the outside (I already had the bottom of the mortar fixed by ANT Masonry for a minimal cost), they said no--it's probably because you have some failure inside the flue for the furnace and that dampness is coming into the basement. Interesting. I've actually had no dampness in basement since the bottom of the mortar was repaired and the lower brick was tuckpointed. So, on to the chimney liner.....

He committed, contract was signed, he asked for a portion of the money upfront, said it would be completed in a week. As of now, in November, the work is uncompleted, and it appears that he just does not want to complete it. This is after several delays from the start, countless no-shows on days he promised to come, leaving equipment on our property for weeks, his forgetting details of conversations we had back in September, and ignoring texts and voicemails. We actually chose the more expensive option as it sounded like it was a better fix and made more sense and then the day before he started the job he told us the cheaper one actually was all we needed after he got an up close look (this was on the 4th floor).
