The team was extremely efficient . It was a huge job due to the severe drainage issues we had in our yard . Old World had to dig 4 to 6 feet deep to bury pipes to create new drainage. I not only needed cleaning and sealing but repair work as well. I have been looking for a company that knew what they were talking about when giving me an estimate. Billy explained the problem areas and advised what was wrong and how things needed to be corrected; unlike other companies that would just come look around and write a number on an estimate. The repair men are knowledgeable, hard-working and did a good job cleaning up. This company is 5 stars! We had our sidewalk repaired, patio tower rebuilt because it was leaning, and several areas in the patio raised so water wouldn't pool-up. read more

Contracted with OWBP this past summer to replace and improve our front door stoop and front concrete walkway which was cracked and had settled significantly over the years. Bill H came out to provide an estimate. It wasn't an overly complicated project, but he was very knowledgeable and gave great information. Felt he was honest, and didn't push unnecessary or unneeded upgrades. He actually recommended against a separate bit of work we were considering having them do in the back...suggesting he didn't think it wouldn't be worth the expense. Should be expected, but don't always see honesty from businesses today. Install crew was professional, did a great job and left the area clean after they finished. It's been less than 2 years since OWBP filled in our pavers. When they left, the mortar/sand between the pavers did not look filled in and it looks much worse now. Moss growing everywhere. I am guessing bc they did the service when the weather was bad. I asked several times if the weather was going to affect outcome and they said no, but the work alludes otherwise. After reading the many glowing reviews for Old World Brick Paving, i'm sorry to say that my experience has not been as positive. Last September, Old World cleaned, sealed and installed polymer sand to our existing back patio. We were very happy with their professionalism and final product. This spring we noticed significant deterioration / degrading of the polymer sand. Given it was less than 6 months from the original work, we called Old World to see if they'd come back to assess the situation. After communicating the issue, there were numerous calls & assurances from Old World that "we'll get someone out there" to see what the problem was. Never happened. Summer came and we enjoyed our patio and didn't reach out, nor hear from Old World. Beginning in August....started calling Old World again to see if we could get them to have someone look at the situation. The same cycle continued; professional customer service desk with promises to "look into it" but no follow through......forcing me to call back again & again. At one point i was told that the polymer sand "wasn't guaranteed". I understood that; but questioned the fact the job held up for less than a year. I was simply looking for Old World to assess the situation & tell us what our options might be. Despite numerous calls in May/June and again in August/September, i was continually told "we'll get someone to contact you." I'd have preferred Old World to just tell me the work wasn't covered, and they weren't interested in a small repair job. Instead, they made me call multiple times and continued giving me "happy talk". I recently left Old World a message that I (finally) realized they weren't interested in following up, and that I'd find someone else. I also advised them that I had originally been referred to them by a large landscaping firm, & that under the circumstance, I'd advise the landscaping firm of my negative experiences You'd think that might elicit a response from Old World. It did not. Old World Brick Paving seems to have many happy customers that have had great experiences working them. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them. read more

We had an old, broken-down concrete patio (450 sqft) that was sloping toward the house and was cracking significantly in several areas. We initially were going to replace the patio with a new concrete slab, but decided to spend a bit more (about 30% more) to have Unilock bricks that look a lot better and will hopefully have better durability over time. In reviewing a number of different companies, Old World Brick Paving is a bit more expensive than other brick pavers. The difference in cost is because OWBP does pride themselves on quality and going beyond the minimum requirements for Unilock paving. We decided on OWBP because we felt that the higher cost (about 10% more than other quotes) would be worth the higher quality and (hopefully) longer durability of the patio. We worked with Greg to obtain a quote and select the brick style for our patio. He was always responsive and helpful throughout the entire process. After getting our permit from the city, OWBP was able to schedule us within about a week, and the entire patio was done after three work days. The workers did an outstanding job -- they were polite, kept the area clean, and the quality of their work was outstanding. I would highly recommend OWBP for Unilock pavers and will be using them in the future for any new projects! read more

I contacted OWBP because of the good reviews on Yelp. Greg came out to do a quote. He was very nice in person. He was late to our meeting but he made sure to call and let me know which was nice. He gave us a quote for both concrete and brick for our new stoop/sidewalk. The quotes were higher than I expected but I conferred with my step dad and he said the price was good. We went ahead with the concrete. Greg sent us the contract and in the email he told me he forgot to add the flashing in the quote and it was going to be $400 more. I was not happy about this. When Greg was over, my husband had asked about that and Greg said it was included in the price. Greg offered us $150 off that price. I was still pretty unhappy. Greg called me the next day and told me they would eat the difference and honor the original price. I was very pleased with this as I was about to go elsewhere. Greg came out and we signed the contract and paid the deposit. You do have to get your own permit so allow time for that. The team that came out to do the work was fantastic, one stayed late to get the layout set up. They finished quickly and cleaned up after themselves. They also changed the shape of the side walk a little bit which looks a lot better than the old shape. Overall I am very pleased! read more

We recently had Frank and his team install a 250 sq foot patio in our backyard - they did a great job. We also put this out to bid with a few other contractors and felt the most comfortable with Frank. He was very clear in providing us options within our budget and also gave us pros and cons so we could make an educated decision. Other contractors simply walked through our backyard, took a look and said they would get back to us with a quote. Frank's overall presentation and willingness to spend time with us during the quote phase made the biggest difference. Frank was able to come after business hours and had a tablet with pictures of his work, giving tips on how to maximize our investment and communicating the upkeep associated with each choice. Plus, OWBP specializes in this, vs having a landscaper do the job. Frank also was very upfront about our obligations after we had committed - we worked with the village to get the permits and this was also reassuring to us that he wasn't willing to cut corners. Frank was always available via cell phone and very responsive throughout the process. Everything he promised (that he would be there on every job, that our job would only take 2 days - it did) was done right and went very smooth. While the work was going on, Frank was able to keep us up to date on the progress and remaining work to be done. He also texted us pictures of the progress which was very helpful. I liked Old World Brick Paving's crew. I appreciate how hard they worked and their customer service skills. What I find unacceptable are this company's billing practices. First of all, they tried to charge me for more square footage then there even was in the final version of my contract. The Village made adjustment to the size of my first planned patio in order to keep up with their code, but this company was still charging me for that bigger size. Secondly, I had to pay for over 7 sq ft more than it was actually installed because that's what was in my contract. 7 x $22/ sq ft it's not a negligible difference. The owner told me that it doesn't matter that they installed less I got to pay the quoted square footage. And lastly, in order to keep my warranty they made me pay for their business license fee in my town, although it was not specified in the contract and they can use it at my expense for a year. Let me tell you this. It does matter what you have promised the customer and how you treat your customer. Therefore, I would not recommend hiring Old World Brick Paving for your project. read more

We hired Old World Brick Paving to expand our patio and to install a natural gas fire table, a job that required extending a natural gas line to the new patio. Owner Frank Calistro personally verified the final design on site the day before work was to begin. Frank appeared on site again early the next morning to launch the job. Old World's three craftsmen worked three long days to build the patio and install the natural gas line and fire table. They were meticulous and the work was perfect. The final product is beautiful and a wonderful enhancement to our home. Our architect neighbor watched the project proceed and was very complimentary of OWBP's work. This is our second project with OWBP and we recommend them highly. read more
