It has been quite a while since I've been here. I made a point of having us stop by on Sunday. It was hot, and I wanted ice cream. I also didn't want to go to DQ for soft serve. We got a cup of ice cream. He got Cappuccino Break, and I got strawberry. Strawberry is my favorite ice cream flavor. If you like coffee and chocolate, then you'd enjoy the CB. My friend really enjoyed it. It was too chocolatey for me. I do not like chocolate, so it stands to reason why I'd not love it. The strawberry ice cream made me think of when we'd make ice cream at home when we were children. It was hard work, yet always worth it. There was a great balance of strawberries to creaminess. The service was quick and friendly, and I'm glad that we stopped by. Will probably go again on Saturday, as we'll be back in the area. My son loved their Superman ice cream, so we'll see if he still wants to eat is all these years later. If you're in the area, stop by. Giving 3 stars (wish I could give 3.5) only because my Oreo ice cream wasn't very sweet and didn't have enough Oreos. Cone Brothers in a tiny hole in the wall joint in a small strip mall in Richfield. I was a little wary about it, but Cone Brothers was a delightful surprise. I thought it would just be a local joint serving up Dryers ice cream in some basic flavors, but I was very wrong. Cone Brothers has about 15 different flavors and they are all fun and unique. The ice cream is made in Wisconsin. I had a 4 scoop sample and tried a peanut butter ice cream with caramel, a dark chocolate with marshmallows, coconut chocolate, and Oreo. All of the ice cream was sweet, creamy, and filled with flavor. Although, I don't think the coolers are kept cold enough so the ice cream was a little too soft. My peanut butter ice cream was also a bit grainy so that's never good. This place is a solid 3.5 stars and I would definitely return if I'm ever having a craving for ice cream since I live nearby. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to visit, unless you interested in Batman memorabilia, than it might be worth the drive. read more

Found a new favorite ice cream spot!! Tucked away in a Richfield shopping mall it's hard to spot but totally worth the drive. The number and variety of flavors is unreal. It was hard to decide what to try so I blindly picked yippie skippy which has peanut butter, Carmel, chocolate and a whole slew of flavors jammed packed together. I didn't want the bottom of the bowl to surface. My fiancé chose the Blueberry cheesecake and he let me steal a few bites. It was silky, light, and most of all refreshing. Just stopped at Cone Brothers for a quick well deserved treat for the kids. My husband was initially teasing me that I wanted to try it since he hadn't heard anything about it, but I finally won him over and we went. So glad we did! Cute vintage ice cream shop w lots of super hero decorations (which my boys loved.) the ice cream flavors were original and delicious. I had the raspberry chocolate chip and it was creamy with big chocolate chunks. The boys had the Superman (crazy colors but tasted a bit like cherry vanilla and they were really excited about it) and husband had Zanzibar chocolate, which was rich and chocolatey. All 4 cones were @$14. Sebastian Joe's has always been our goto and I think we will convert. We will be back! read more

Yum. Excellent and unique flavors! It looks like they order the ice cream from WI, who I hate to give props to, but, Go Wisconsin! I can't remember the name of mine, something skippy, what I can remember is that it was SO divine, I couldn't get it out of my mind and had to go back the next day for a fix. It had peanut butter ice cream, brownie chunks (hell yes), pretzels and choco bits. Hallelujah, I have found a winning combination. We stopped by for Penn Fest because these guys had the best deal around - hot dogs for $0.66, small ice cream cones for $0.66, and free soda. As you can imagine, they were packed! It's a tiny place, but the two employees managed to keep up with the demand. There are only 3-4 tables available inside, but they had a couple tables outside, too. I loved the turtle ice cream. Located in the tiniest strip mall I've ever seen. i like that the name reflects that it sells ice cream. It's actually the same brand that they sell at Lynden's in St. Paul, out of Madison, WI. It reflects music retro and has great photos of singers on the wall. Since they both sell the same brand, my rating is besides it tasting good, it's a nickel less than Lynden's, and they give you more in one scoop. Grand Creamery charges $4 per scoop, it's huge, but I think the ratio of price and amount equal out. This place has been in my periphery for almost two decades: a steadfast northern star in the similarly constant landscape of Penn Avenue. I've been to Sandys, Arc, even the Picking Parlor but I never stopped to get a scoop from the amusingly named ice cream shop that I was so familiar with from childhood. Yesterday was the day. I walked in and nothing in that small room disappointed my childish eyes. Wall to wall of DC memorabilia, old timey trinkets and gadgets and gizmos and seated and happy to see us was the owner (if he isn't the owner he certainly had authority over the place in my eyes so I am sorry for the error if he wasn't). Let's get to the ice cream! Lots of options; they even have Superman ice cream! I had the cake batter and my friend enjoyed the Oreo. I felt welcomed and sated after a long summer of being a good girl and staying inside and wearing a mask. There's places to sit outside and it would be a pleasant idea in my mind to take a stroll around the corner to the local park with cone in hand to enjoy time with a friend and maybe swing on the swings. Got the name of this place from a list of best ice cream shops in Minnesota to try. I've taken take out orders from Cadao Express next door and would pass it but never a good time to stop so finally on this last hot day of summer, we went here for ice cream. I like an ice cream shop that lets you sample the flavors before buying. Out of all that I've tried, the best flavor was Fat Elvis. They have a couple booth for eating inside or a table outside to enjoy on a cool day. They have malts, shakes, root beer floats, banana split, sundaes, regular sugar and waffle cones. It's a small shop. The staff is friendly. If you have any nut allergies or cross contamination concerns, make sure to all that the scooper be washed for each flavors thoroughly. Not sure if they rotate their flavors but this is by far the creamiest ice cream I've had in a long time. I couldn't decide on just one or two flavors so I went with their four mini scoop waffle cone. Had the black cherry, fat Elvis, coconut almond bliss, and mint avalanche. All very good. We'd been to whatever this was before it was Cone Brothers once or twice, so we were a little leary to enter this shop after it was recently revamped. HOWEVER, we are so glad we did! I like the ice cream flavors here a lot. Sure, they don't make it, but you'll find some wonderful flavors from Wisconsin you may not find anywhere else. Located in a strip mall, it's a fun surprise to enter and find yourself in a cute old fashioned ice cream shop. As the man behind the counter was scooping up a cup of Turtle Ice Cream for me, he told me all this month is their Grand Opening. With a drawing for a Mountain Bike and they're giving away pints and pints of ice cream. I don't know what I want more, the bike or a pint of the fabulous Turtle Ice Cream I just finished off!
