One of my favorite ice cream places in Minnesota. I'm a big fan of the hazelnut brownie flavor! It's only my second time here and it never disappoints. The flavor selection ("periodic table") is always kind of limited but it's a small location with not that many spots for flavors. I got the basil ice cream, which had that flavor note that you only ever get with fresh-from-the-garden basil. The location is also really good as it's walking distance from my family's place and the 50th and France area is pleasant to take a stroll around with your ice cream. read more

Decided to come here on a date night after dinner and this place was delightful! There is a large free parking ramp next to this place! If you walk from the parking ramp, down to Bellecour Cafe and look straight across the street, you will see this place! The vibes in here are honestly lacking and the only reason I dropped a star. There is very little seating, so expect to take your ice cream to go. In the summer, that's not a problem as there is ample seating outside! But during the cooler months, there is only one table and a couple of small benches. Everything here is also white and with a name like "sweet science" I was expecting more "science stuff" The staff here was absolutely lovely!! Very polite and super friendly! You are allowed to try samples and these gals seemed to be having fun with their job! Down to business: The ice cream was DELICIOUS! I am lactose intolerant, so having some vegan (dairy free) options was great! It looks like they use cashew milk for most of those bases. I hate cashews but this didn't taste like cashews at all! I got the vanilla chocolate chip and it was creamy, perfect vanilla and the chocolate chips added a very nice texture! Would highly recommend!! I was extremely impressed with the vegan flavors available at Sweet Science! I hadn't been to a Sweet Science since they were located at Lake Como, and back then they only had one or two vegan flavors. I'm glad my partner insisted we go, because almost 1/4 of their flavors are now vegan. I had an extremely difficult time deciding between all of the amazing looking flavors, but ultimately decided on the banana guava and the summer strawberry flavors, each of which was amazing. I also tried the dark chocolate sorbet, which was also delicious. My daughter and her friend both had regular ice creams, which they liked. The staff was super friendly, they even rescooped a cone after one of them dropped their scoop. There's a small amount of indoor seating but a lot of pleasant outdoor seating! read more

We were having drinks nearby and when walking back to our car, decided we needed a little ice cream to finish off the night! The best part about this area is the free ramp parking. A quick walk over to this small shop. The space isn't necessarily for hanging out, but it's clean and modern. Perfect to grab and go for a stroll around the 50th and France shoppes. The woman who created and runs Sweet Science comes from an academic background and used her skills to produce an all natural, creamy, ice cream that almost has the texture of custard. Yet, Sweet Science is pure ice cream and doesn't use the same methodology as custard. The Sweet Science flavors explode in your mouth, and we discovered cones only smother the taste explosion. The ice cream should be tasted in its purest form. The shop in Edina is close to everything else at 50th and France, and you can multi-task while enjoying Sweet Science. I've always wanted to try the local Sweet Science ice cream and see it stocked in stores but have never had the chance to dig in so when we searched for a dessert to close out our date night I was pumped it was only a 4 min walk away! The server helping us was so patient as we tried samples and was so sweet in asking how we were doing, how the weather is, and if we were enjoying our day. I ended up getting the blood orange cream and it was absolutely incredible! Close second choice was vanilla mint fudge but I'm not a huge fudge girl so had to pass. After a day swimming we needed some ice cream and Sweet Science looked like a fun spot to test out with some fun flavor options. We sampled a few flavors and the whole family decided we all had to have our own scoop of the hazelnut brownie. My wife and I split flavors on a single scoop and got the rhubarb flavor and almond toffee ganache. Everything was great. The waffle cone was quite tasty as well. One thing that is especially nice about this location is the courtyard just outside which offers a nice place to enjoy the delicious ice cream. It's rich, nutty, slightly earthy, and just sweet enough. If you like flavors that are a little more grown-up and interesting, it's a must. Parking can be a bit tricky, but it's easy to park in the ramp and walk over, so it's not a huge deal. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the shop is really clean. We've been fans of Sweet Science Ice Cream from their beginning. I remember when they were first getting started, they would hold these free tasting events at various locations around the cities. Essentially there would be 10-15 stations. People would line up and then walk through that line. You then had the option to taste the ice cream or move onto the next table. This was all free. Free ice cream! The only regret I have is I didn't think about the idea of getting back in line again until now. Currently they have way more than 10-15 flavors. They have seasonal flavors and new flavors monthly. From traditional flavors to flavors with goat cheese, beer and even corn, We love their peppermint bark however we really love their snickerdoodle. Been wanting to try this place forever, and it did not disappoint! We came on a Tuesday around 7, and there was a decent line but it was worth it. They were amazing!! Some of the best ice cream I've ever had. The flavor is fresh, intense, and real - no artificial taste. I forgot to take pictures of our icecream. We came around 5 maybe and there were hardly any people in the vicinity, and it was on a Tuesday. It was kind of hidden, you have to park and walk. I got the rhubarb and the apple crisp in a waffle cone. The waffle cone was not good, hands down the worst waffle cone I've ever had and I absolutely love waffle cones. It was wayyyy to salty and kind of burnt? The apple crisp icecream was also kind of salty, and was more butter flavor in my opinion. The rhubarb was pretty good, but doesn't combine well with the salty apple crisp. The lady was sweet at first, I tried maybe 5 flavors total, only the ones I'd never seen before, and by the second one hee attitude was one of annoyance. You could see it all on her face. When I asked to taste the rhubarb I immediately said yea I'll have that one, and her response was "okay, which one?" With annoyance in her voice...maybe the one I literally just ate off the spoon? The review of the flavors I did get. Berry Crumble - loved the cookie pieces in the ice cream, the berries in it tasted fresh but they do get stuck in your teeth like when you eat blackberries and raspberries. The favor was pretty solid. 4/5 Hazelnut Brownie - the hazelnut flavored ice cream was very good. The brownie was nice with every other bite. If it had peanut pieces in it. I would've been even better but then it would've been a Ferrero Rocher 4/5 Five Watt Coffee - if you love coffee ice cream this one was nice and creamy and the coffee flavor was on point. But it go old real fast for me. 4/5 Cayenne Caramel Brownie - your typical caramel brownie ice cream but with a little kick from the cayenne which is a nice little twist in ice cream. 4/5 Stracciatella - I've always loved me a good Stracciatella, and this was it. First time visiting here and they have quite the selection of ice creams. My husband and I decided to sample a few before selecting what ice creams we wanted to share together since we did a big bowl 2-scoop. We went with Rhubarb Cinnamon Almond and Caramel Apple Cider Crisp. The first was an 8/10 because there wasn't ribbons of flavor throughout it. I found that I was often eating just vanilla without any of the flavors mixed in so definitely could have been mixed better. The latter was a 10/10, so freaking good! I appreciated how it actually tasted like an apple crisp with lots of "crisp" chunks and ribbons of caramel throughout. This flavor I'd get again and again hands down. This business is in a prime location as well. Fun to visit here if you take a stroll in the area and then want a sweet treat after. I can imagine the line being long to order at times, when we came it was out the door and there was only 10 minutes until close. So limited space inside and long lines could make some folks not try this but I encourage you to give this yummy shop a try. They even have a spoon photo op wall which is quite fun! read more

Some of the best ice cream I think I've ever had. They have a rotating panel of flavors and it's beautiful and clean inside. You can also buy a flight (probably to share) and pints! The price is no joke, but frankly it's worth it and it's inline with other places nearby. Our favorite was the Salted Caramel. We actually go to Sweet Science pretty regularly, as it has become our favorite Ice Cream stop in the Twin Cities. Located in the shopping complex around 50th street and France Avenue in Edina, this place has the best ice cream I've ever tasted!!! I know this is slightly sacrilegious, as I'm from Wisconsin, but the flavors are well thought out and really pop. The first flavor that I ever had was the Apple Cider Crumble and I was hooked. It's seasonal, but since it's fall come check it out! The best part is that almost all the flavors are Gluten Free, which is really awesome since one of my daughter's and I have Celiac's Disease. They list all the flavors in a periodic table format, which is clever and fun, and only a handful of flavors have gluten, nuts, etc., so this place is very friendly for people with food allergies. On this particular trip (with the pictures I posted), we got the Pineapple, Passion Fruit, Mango Sorbet, which had the most fresh and beautifully sharp taste I've ever experienced with Ice Cream. My other daughter (with Celiac's) loves the combination of Berry Crumble on the bottom and Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookie on top, both within their tasty Gluten-Free Waffle Cone. I love the sharpness of Rhubarb, so went with the Rhubarb-Cinnamon-Almond and was NOT disappointed. I was flying solo this trip, so was having some trouble wrangling all the cones and dishes, when one of the workers offered to help me carry the ice cream to my car. While I stubbornly carried on, as ridiculous dads do, they were super sweet to offer. Yummy!! I have the biggest sweet tooth and found out that there is an actual storefront for this! I've never actually tasted a single flavor before, but I've heard the term "Sweet Science" for awhile now! The storefront is pretty small and really more of like a take-and-go type of place. My group all got different flavors to try out and I ended up picking sweet corn blueberry to try! I love anything corn so I thought why not! The flavor is different than what I had imagined but not a bad flavor. It tasted like blended up cream of corn with blueberry syrup mixed throughout. The texture was very nice and creamy. I enjoyed my Lil Guy scoop of it but would probably not try again. Other flavors that I tried were: passion fruit and almond toffee ganache. The passion fruit flavor was super delicious and different! I liked the tartness but also the creaminess of it all. Almond toffee ganache will be the reason for my return. The pineapple Passionfruit sorbet, and the sweet corn blueberry flavor. The sweet corn one was my favorite! It was amazing. I didn't know corn ice cream could be so refreshing. Not too sweet and the hint of blueberry added complex flavor, perfection. If you are going to this place you need to get this flavor. It's seasonal though so get it soon! The pineapple passion fruit one was tart and sweet! The perfect texture soft and icy. Great flavor also. The workers were very nice. As my friends know I'm a very indecisive person. Spring sunshine finally popping out inspired us to visit today and we will definitely be back! Such a fun concept, the menu is set up like a periodic table with rotating seasonal flavors. We decided to try a flight of five because we couldn't choose just one. Of the five flavors, my favorite was definitely the Coffee Caramel Cookie - such strong coffee flavor! We lucked out and they had a flavor we wanted to try in their freezer for to go, the dragon fruit lemonade sorbet. It is one of their February flavors and it is so perfectly tart, bright pink, and studded with little seeds - Perfection!
