I never felt rushed, and her positive attitude made a stressful day a whole lot easier. As a mom who is usually juggling work, life, and trying to pull together celebrations at the eleventh hour, that kind of kindness goes a long way. The delivery personnel were very friendly and prompt. However, the reservation process was a bit…read moretedious and their rules were unclear at booking. My main issues were that (1) after requesting my reservation on their site (for tables and chairs), I was informed that delivery had a $75 minimum (before tip and fees); and (2) after signing my contract for delivery several weeks in advance, and just a couple days before our event, I was informed that delivery would only be made to the first floor. I would have chosen a different vendor had this been made clear upfront, as the main purpose of delivery was to have things taken to our actual event space.

I ordered china, catering equipment, and a dance floor for my daughter's wedding for 85 guests. I meet with sales adviser, Melody for advice especially on the dance floor just to be sure my order was correct. I had no knowledge of what was needed, so I trusted her advice and placed an order solely based off of her recommendation. The dance floor delivered was literally a half of a square!!! It couldn't even be linked together to make a square. Obviously she has zero clue how the pieces link together. Even the delivery drivers said they knew something was wrong with the order when they picked it up. When I tried to get the company to correct their mistake and bring two more squares (I even said I'd pay for it) they told me they wouldn't be able to deliver it on Saturday because nobody would be there and the best they could do was lay it outside of their office before they closed for me to pick up?! So basically if someone stole it before I got there the liability would be on me. Why would a company even suggest leaving their inventory outside unattended?! To top it off when the delivery drivers came back to pick up the order apparently they had zero idea of what they were supposed to be picking up and left a portion of the order at the venue. Apparently the office staff failed to communicate that with them. This company doesn't seem organized or knowledgeable about their products at all based off the advice and service I received. I would not recommend them for any significant event such as a wedding, and would strongly suggest shopping around for someplace else. The entire process was a classic example of "You get what you pay for." I regret renting from them and wish I would've paid more and went with "Please Be Seated" or someplace else instead.

Southern Events did our wedding and we were very disappointed with how we were treated. They lost a…read morecheck we had sent to them saying it wasn't under the right name because it had my husbands name on it (although our return address on the envelope had both our names), so I had gone back & forth to the bank numerous times to see if it had been cashed, etc, since they were saying they never received it. I couldn't have it cancelled for 90 days but we had to put down our deposit still, so instead of being out $550 initially, we were out $1,100. After MONTHS of this, the bank said that they received a copy that it had in fact been cashed, and it was signed by Southern Rentals accounting department. When we asked if they could somehow compensate us for all the added stress and errands, and money being out of our wedding fund MUCH sooner than initially planned for, they told us there was nothing they could do. I would not recommend using them. There is enough stress with weddings as is and they made our planning a lot more stressful than it needed to be.
