I had an appointment today, April 2, 2015 and wanted to get driving directions. So, I google the address and YELP link came up. I was so TOTALLY surprised when I saw a few bad reviews. I don't normally write reviews BUT this one I had to write one. I've been with Conley's tax service for more than 10 years and it has been 10 happy years!!! Patty and staff always treated me like family. Sure, there were times that an email or two would be returned/replied after a few days. It's because they're so good that they have a lot of clients. Maybe a mistake or two every now and then but they're humans and we all make mistakes. But when they do make a mistake they make sure they take care of it immediately. A bad review is worst than 20 good reviews. But I am here to state a fact that Conley's Tax service is one awesome team. Ahhhh....I feel better now. read more

John is incredibly unprofessional, unresponsive, and will completely ignore all customers. The only time this group will reach out to you is for payment. Again, they ignore every email. I have gone to Conely Tax Service for almost 20 years and was happy with the service Cindy provided. Last year Kyle Conley did my taxes and things were going fine until I didn't have a mileage log for my small route sales business. Kyle loudly said I KNOW WE TALKED ABOUT THIS LAST YEAR!!! there was a moment of silence, and he punch some random number in his computer. To make matters worse he completely ignored me for the rest of the fifteen-minute appointment and started asking my wife questions regarding our taxes completely embarrassing me in front of her. I do the taxes for the family, and I had my records in order except for the millage log, its route sales, the mileage is the same every year! With tax season approaching I called Conley to change to a different preparer at their office. About a week later I get an email telling me that they will no longer do my taxes because of "conflict of interest", kind of hard to get an appointment this late in the year somewhere else. If you would have asked me a couple of years ago to review Conley's Tax Service, I would have given a glowing review for the customer service that Raimey provided to us, several family members and friends for many years. However, since losing extremely experienced and customer focused employees like Raimey, Conley's has chosen to nickel and dime customers that might have chosen to stay with them. They can't even see the forest through the trees and see that they are single handedly forcing customers to seek other more reputable and customer focused service providers. I simply requested an electronic copy of the tax return that I paid for, and which they can see, but Conley's refuses to send me my information unless I pay another fee. Conley's is so scared because clients are choosing to follow Raimey and Cynthia to TBL Tax Service that they don't even realize that they are pushing long-time clients to leave because of their poor customer service. Unfortunate for them, because I might have chosen to stay with them if they had treated me with more respect, but I guess I'll head to TBL Tax Service with the other clients. If I could give this place 0 Stars I would!! Found out this year that Brandi made a mistake on our 2013 taxes ( I found it not Raimey who was doing our taxes) She only found it after I looked into it closer. Had to wait 2 weeks to get a response from the owner because he was too busy vacationing in Mexico but of course this is "their busy time of year" his words. He acted like he was doing us a favor by covering the penalties and interest we will now have to pay on top of back taxes because of Brandi's mistake. Brandi by the way is the owners niece so no wonder he's trying to cover all her mistakes from when she worked there it's no wonder why she is no longer there. We've been going to Conley's for over 10 years and in the beginning they were great but as many of the other reviewers have said they have raised their prices and declined their service. Should have followed my extinct and stopped going here years ago. Do yourself a favor and avoid the headache and go somewhere else, I would think even doing your taxes yourself would be better than bothering with this place. read more

Kyle Conley has been doing my husband's and my taxes for the last 5 years, and we won't go to anyone else! He always gets us the biggest refund possible and is so personable! He is VERY knowledgeable and does not mind answering our millions of tax questions. HIGHLY recommend Kyle at Conley's Tax Service in Pleasanton. Everything was done super fast, and our accountant (Kyle) was very communicative throughout the whole process to let us know what details and documentation he needed from us, when to expect our refund, and how to pay what we owed. I absolutely would not recomend Conley's. To anyone! For any reason. We had used Conley's for several years. This was after multiple recommendations from government employees. Then a mistake was made on our 2007 taxes. Yes, you read that correctly. Long story short, our preparer filed a deduction we were not eligible for and one audit later, we owed the IRS $17,000 and the state $5, 000. (No that is not a typo). Conley's said they would cover the interest on that amount since their preparer made the error. We were on the hook for the additional amount since legally we signed the filing paperwork verifying it was correct. We hired this preparer to know tax issues that we felt were way over our head. Unfortunately, our trust was misplaced. In many ways. Read on.... Now, two bounced checks later we are still waiting for them to pay their interest amount. When the first check bounced, we figured it was an oversight. After waiting 3 months for a new, replacement check, covering the $20 bank fee and returned check, we received the replacement. When we tried to deposit it, we found they had post dated it for 2 months. We still wanted to believe they were trying to make this right and waited to deposit it. I mean, really, who would write 2 bad checks to "public safety employees." What happened when we did the deposit? Another insufficient funds notice and $20 out of our account. So we wait again. I've left another message (no one ever answers the phone) giving them 5 days to correct the issue. I rarely say bad things against a business (or person) unless they are beyond awful. And this is the case here. read more

HORRIBAD. My wife and I had some issues with prior tax returns and a friend referred us to Cindy at Conley's Tax Service. Cindy wasn't available, so we were transferred to Brandi. Phone calls, emails, etc were never returned. The IRS has been expecting responses from us, but we can't get in touch with who's preparing our taxes. We tried to get our information back so we could move on to another service, but calling and leaving a message was like entering a black hole. No responses ever. Even after numerous messages, no returned phone calls and we had to go to the IRS to get all the info from them for our new tax service. I'd recommend Dee's Tax Service in Castro Valley to anyone having issues in the Tri Valley area. Dee was everything that Brandi wasn't and we appreciate it. read more

I have gone to this place for about 6 or 7 years. I never had a problem until a few years ago. Not only did they raise the amount to charge you to do your taxes, their customers service got worst and worst. If I pay more, I expect a decent service. After finding a mistake on my tax return (yes, I found it), I tried calling and e-mailing to meet with them to fix it. No reply until a week later. This was NOT the first they, they don't return calls. I read several reviews where other customers are complaining about the same thing. It is true, their service went from ok to bad and finally horrible. Do yourself a favor and avoid them. read more

I would have to agree with the other ratings. I was recommended to this place by fellow Public Safety Employees. The first 2 years went okay, then I was transferred to Brandy. I noticed a mistake and called immediately to point it out. The receptionist would pick up and take a message, but I never got a call back. Finally she gave me Brandy's email address and I emailed her the information to correct my return. After about 10-15 attempts to contact them via phone and email, I finally had to give up. I never got a call back and the error was never corrected. I went to a new tax preparer this year who will fix her mistake from the previous year. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! It is not worth risking problems with the IRS. They will not back you when you need them. read more

My husband and I have been visiting Cindy from Conley's for tax preparation -- personal and small business -- for over a decade. We've been so happy with Cindy's work that we've driven from Sacramento to Pleasanton each year since w3e moved! So, yeah, very happy customers, and we've recommended this business to friends and family many times in the past... UNTIL THIS YEAR we have had nothing negative to say; but this is the year the demand letters started arriving :( We are no longer able to raise anyone on the phone, our emails go unanswered, and we've had to draft a tax-expert friend to help sort out the mess we're apparently in. If I'd written this review a year ago, Conley's would have received 5 stars. But, you never really find out what a company is like until you need something from them. My husband and I have used Conley's for four tax seasons. The first two were great. Then our usual preparer was no longer there and we got someone else "Brandy" The first time we used her we were slammed with oweing tons and the second year was a complete mess! She goofed and told us we owed when we didn't then neither one of our state or fed returnes were don't correctly! When we called for help after recieving noticed from the IRS we were told "they don't have time to help us"and "we were not a priority"... because they already had our money! Can you believe that! We were told to deal with the state and feds ourselves... Needless to say we finally got one refund in August and we just now in December recieved our other! With no help from Conleys!! Tax preparers. Been going here for years. They know their stuff and I am pleased with their professionalism. My only beef is the way they set up appointments, specifically right after the new year. No one picks up a phone. You leave a message for when you want to come in. They'll call back in a day or two and tell you your choice is not available and to pick something else. We've been going to Conley's for the last six years and we drive all the way from San Jose because they are so good to work with. Brandy has done our returns for the last several years. Some years, she's had to put in a lot of tedious work into figuring out stock transactions. Last year, the IRS contacted my boyfriend and told him he had failed to claim a lot of stock transactions and owed them around $5,000! We contacted Conley's and a couple of weeks later, Brandy had figured out that the IRS was double counting stuff. She sent the IRS a letter explaining their mistake and we eventually got a letter from IRS that dropped the issue. What a relief! read more

I would give them ZERO stars if I could. Good luck ever getting someone live on the phone, and if you want help outside of your designated appt, you'd be more likely to be struck by lightning. Went to Conley's for 4 years and dealt with rate hikes each year. I recently moved away and needed a simple request filled for a past years tax return, and not so much as a single phone call back from Conley. Typical take your money and run outfit, Do yourself a favor and go someplace else. I would have been better off not filing my taxes and taking the penalties with interest from the IRS! I did talk to him as well, you miss quoted him and you didn't e-file his taxes as you said you would. You also charged his daughter three times as much as you charged him. I have no problem with your company. I heard positive things from the whole family so I walked in the door expecting great things. ( to negate the fact you didn't follow up and help the sister.) I understand you get busy, and if you want to turn away new business to take care of your tried an true customers, I support that ten fold. But to treat your clients of 35 years plus as second class citizens and continue to make mistakes as basic as quoting larger refunds then filed, and not E-Filing when you have done it for the previous years, just doesn't make business, or common sense, to me. I am glad you turned me away, and will continue to support my girlfriend and her family if they continue to do business with you. Please do what you can to better your process of double booking and messing up on your paperwork, and I appreciate the follow up you provided on Yelp. If you could please follow up with her dad and explain why he still doesn't have his E-File payments and the amount he was originally quoted, it would be much appreciated. read more
