Elliot just helped me successfully process a lemon law claim with Ford Motor Company. They agreed to repurchase my vehicle, and we were able to successfully get a very high cash payout after multiple rounds of negotiations while avoiding a lawsuit. My specific case involved some complexities around the statute of limitations and tolling (see more info below). I was under the gun for timing when I called a number of Lemon Law attorneys on a Friday. If we hadn't done that, the timing wouldn't have worked out for me to successfully do this claim. I don't know about you, but I I want to work with the guy that is calling people back at 5:30pm on a Friday. Just to educate everyone a little bit on this subject. California lemon law has a six-year statute of limitations, but there is also a tolling period that goes along with that legislation. What that means is that you can add on the number of days your vehicle was out of service to the six-year statute. In my case, it had been out of service over eight months and therefore still qualified. Almost all of the firms I called had very low-level people answering their phones, going through a basic checklist, and they failed to understand this concept. After a couple of years of dealing with the same issue with my new 2023 car, I researched lemon law attorneys and came across Conn Law PC. I reached out to them through their website and within a day or two attorney Kira Patterson called me. After explaining the situation in more detail Kira asked me for copies of all the repairs paperwork. A few days later she got back to me. She said she thought I had a good case, but before going through the courts, her suggestion was for me to contact the corporate offices of the manufacturer (she even gave me that number and email address), and basically tell them "I think you sold me a lemon and I'd like you to buy it back". After several communications and reviews/approvals by different groups, they agreed to buy the car back from me. They returned every dollar I paid (downpayment, payments to the lender, and even renewal registration fee). The process took about three months. From my research, it takes a lot longer for most people. In my case it was much shorter thanks to Kira's responsiveness and honesty. However, then he let me know he was involved with a case and would get back to me the next day but he never did. After two follow-up calls and an email, I finally went with a different lawyer. I got that he was busy, but the thing that made me want to write this was that he did not have the courtesy to even reply to my voicemail or my email attempts to let me know that he couldn't take my case because he was too busy. What a pleasure it was to work with Elliot Conn. We'd been getting dragged along by the automaker who repeatedly "forgot" about us and ghosted our communications over a three year period. Elliot secured us a better settlement agreement than we had dreamed of.
