Just needed a simple quote for a sump pump replacement. The basement in our house has always been dry with no issues. The salesperson that showed up was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, but the problem was that he tried to oversell and point non-existent problems. The final quote for a simple sump pump replacement was 3k approximately (way overpriced). The person spent close to 2 hours trying to sell me a bunch of different products for our basement, and taking a bunch of pictures of the house, to the point that I started questioning this. This company needs to improve their approach and transparency. They will not "quote" you, they will try to sell you a bunch of stuff you just don't need. (Want to clarify that this is not the salesman fault, this is the way they are trained). read more

Sadly, BASEMENT SYSTEMS takes little interest in the actual CUSTOMERS of their products. For example, our local network dealer is quite poor, with workers showing up with alcohol on their breath, and with the network dealer/owner hitting on my girlfriend. Good luck getting the attention of Basement Systems. They make no effort to assist you in finding another more competent network dealer. I have wasted my time calling them with no replies. When they finally did reply (I'm talking about a period of YEARS) they said there is nothing they can do. The products are good (e.g., dehumidifiers, sump pumps) but if you can't find a reliable installer in your area you are wasting your time. It's the entire PACKAGE that is important, not just a few components. So who is Mark Delmolino, and who is Larry Janesky? Who is the real president of the company? Go anywhere else for a solution to your basement solution. read more

I recently had Connecticut Basement Systems install a full perimeter waterproofing system in my basement. They were professional, efficient and respectful of my home. They were careful when transporting material/tools in and out of the house and cleaned up after they were done- my basement was cleaner when they left than before they started! read more

The guy came out to give us a quote on a crack in the basement; he was very pushy and continued to try to sell us a whole dry basement work up versus the simple crack quote we requested. We had to keep redirecting him to the problem at hand but he was very pushy. He even made us watch a video on the crack sealant when we told him we really needed to get back to work. Ultimately, we went with another company that sealed the crack with a lifetime warranty; without the extra pushy sales tactics. read more

Several little issues all add up to a less than recommendable experience. First things first, this install was meant as a backup system to the exterior system that had been rebuilt, and when purchasing we stressed it was a back-up to the backup... we knew it was an expensive protective measure, but we wanted to make sure we took every precaution before redesigning our new basement. And yes we did ask a lot of questions. 1) A "misunderstanding" around finished product work - they do not restore the rough-cut walls to "safe conditions" nor do they rough-cut the studs in an easily repairable manner as advertised unless you buy their wall system. At the time of sale, this was discussed and not detailed to my wife and I or my contractor, and the subject was discussed a few different ways. We were told their metal stud repair products would support the desired wall material and weight we are using. Nor was it discussed when we were advised that it would not be safe for others to pre-cut the wall studs and leave them hanging as we were looking to reduce the cost of the project.) (less of an issue the approach taken to remove the studs destroyed much of the drywall above the cuts to the ceiling and even damaging wall light fixtures 2) While digging, the installers damaged the exterior drainage system and were resistant to fix the pipe as it had a small constant amount of water flowing through it. this was discovered by me, between day one and two as it was partially covered up by gravel, but i could hear the water trickling. The next day the foreman was telling me "it's ok the new system will take it on." I reminded them that this was meant as a separate independent system to the existing one and meant to be the backup. ... they did eventually fix it. 3) They repeatedly plugged multiple jackhammers into the same circuit/outlets, causing the fuse to pop in multiple rooms. When they ran out of outlets to use they plugged into dedicated circuits for the furnace, while it was connected and blew that one too. After a quick explanation from me that they could not share the load from both jackhammers on a circuit and I restored power to them, did they stop trying to connect to the same box and everything worked as one would expect? 4) Foreman changed the path for the drainage system inside the house and outside... "as a better" solution than what was agreed to at the time of sale. I contacted the salesman at this time, and he said to trust the foreman they know better than he did... I was told this was better because if there were issues with the outflow to call back and they would connect it to the other exterior drainage system in place. After two weeks the amount of water pumping into the street has become an issue, and the front yard is a mud puddle. When I called CT Basement Sys. to address the issue, as the foreman suggested, I was told they would not do what was discussed and they would just cut the pipe back, closer to the house to reduce the flow into the street... still leaving the yard a mess at best... or I could have an independent contractor come out to do what their foreman said they would do. 5) the well for the interior pump liner was dug deeper than the exterior well, now the interior runs constantly and the exterior two-pump system has become our backup system. 6) I had no understanding of the audio volume of the water leaving my house when the pumps run, inside the house it's pretty quiet but outside it is loud and neighbors can hear the water pumping away. (this alone is not enough to complain about, but when I get on a roll I will point out all the flaws.) I can honestly say knowing what we got and the condition of our house after the installation, I would not take this path a second time for this project. Will it keep the space dry? -- It looks like it should, time will tell. but this was a suppose to be a back-up to the back-up. The staff is friendly and not too pushy, but overall knowledge of the whole system/process had gaps from time of sale to completed project. Did I get what was expected and feel it improved the appearance of my home with no hidden costs.... nope! (I have to pay extra for the wall repair and for the issues with the drainage line after it was relocated as recommended.) Do I recommend.... not without checking for other options first and making sure you know this is the best solution for you. read more

Beware deceptive practices. Fail to inform you until after the contract is signed of protracted wait times (more than 6 months). I would never have signed anything had we known this upfront. Worse, they collect 1/3 of the contract price as a down payment EVEN THOUGH they will perform no work for over half a year. A supervisor told me today that $ holds your place in line. He offered to put me on the move up list (with more than 300! people already on it). I had a smaller contract and they wanted almost $3k. Typical projects for them are into 5 figures. I conservatively estimate they are literally sitting on millions of customer $ collecting interest for them while you wait with an unusable basement. Ever put down 1/3 of the price of a car or a home while waiting more than 6 months to get it? Me neither. This company is very pricey. Do yourself a favor and comparison shop. Challenge them, if you still want to do business with people who take $ and don't perform work for half a year, and try to negotiate a price reduction. read more

I had basement flooring put in - wood-like product. The contractors were helpful and informative. I left them in my home to complete the project while I was at work. The installation came out great. Perhaps most importantly, the product is beautiful. You can't find a better one and it's well worth the money. read more

Dont waste your time. Company offers false promises. Signed contract first week in March, with very large downpayment. agreed work would be done June 5 (new house purchase- waited for Closing). Received phone call may 30 asking if i could go earlier- we could not. 2 days before our job received call that they ran out of product. In other words they used our product for the earlier job that they were wanted us to switch with. This company is a bunch of Shisters. The lying and manipulating to get your business is awful. I am reporting them to better business bureau. i strongly say DO NOT do business with them. Latest manipulation is that they will do work June 22. It took them 3 months to get organized. I want my money back. They shouldnt be in business. How can a business be allowed to manipulate customers like this n this day and age. Wow, biggest ponzi scheme I have experienced in my career. They spend 4 hours evaluating your basement, recommend WAY too much, play their Larry video, and ask for the check. If you walk them back they lie, upsell, lie, upsell. This is a very aggressive sales organization that is very low quality customer service preying on people with bad situations. If you HAVE TO HAVE A WATER SITUATION taken care of these may be your guys, but you will massively overpay. I hired Connecticut Basement Systems to install a security door from the outside to the basement of my daughter's new home. They are coming later in the month to install a sump pump and insulate the rim joists in this 1929 old house. Kevon and Chavon came at the time agreed, calling twice to narrow down their arrival time. The new metal door looks terrific. The men were pleasant, funny, courteous, knowledgable, hard-working, made effective use of their time, cleaned up perfectly, spoke well of their company, and told me how much they enjoyed their jobs. They took away the trash. I couldn't be more pleased. The door was tricky because they had to work around some pipes. Don't bye the hype. They will tout their incredible service; but it is a total sham. We waited five weeks for an installation date only to be told the morning of the scheduled install that our flooring was not in stock. This is their own product, mind you. It took another two weeks for them to tell us it would be an additional two months to get enough of the flooring product to do our home. Furthermore, after we opted not to proceed because of this infuriating turn of events; they still have not refunded our deposit. Absolutely awful. A total scam. They are worse that any fly by night contractor despite the glossy brochures and dvd. AVOID AT ALL COSTS *** CBS refunded our deposit after this review was initially posted. That said, we have received more correspondence from them about amending this review than we ever did about our initial order. We still would not recommend them, but they did not steal our deposit. We had water in our basement. A very professional salesperson came over to our house and gave us a presentation on her laptop on our option and left us with good reading material. This was compared to the other big name vendors that set up an appointment and never showed. They suggested putting a drain around the outer part of the basement leading to a sump pump. There was zero pressure, and they were flexible on the price. I also checked them against another reputable vendor, and their price was a bit lower. The workers were clean and professional. The got the job done quickly, cleaned up their mess and left. And the best part, no more puddles in the basement! read more

They installed a dehumidifier in my basement. It has broken down at least three times. The last time it broke down, stopped functioning, the person who came to service the dehumidifier told me the system needed its own electrical circuit. I paid an electrician to install the circuit, and the system ceased functioning once again. I told the company of the problem and I felt there was no sense of urgency to repair or replace the system. I have not had a happy experience with this company in this instance. To the credit of this firm, they did install a sump pump system in my basement at it has worked well. It may be that dehumidifiers are not among their core competencies. read more

Very upset with this company today. I have a system from them, I spent the entire day cleaning up a flood after my pump failed, simultaneously trying to get someone on the phone at Ct. Basement to find out if I can either get service or if I void any warranty by having someone else replace the pump. If it rains again I will be in very big trouble. I left two messages to this effect and sent an email, even their emergency line is not picking up. I can't believe this is the way they treat customers, unacceptable. My advice - avoid. At minimum they can't handle service in an emergency situation, not good when you have a basement full of water. read more

We are extremely disappointed with this company. At the end of the summer of 2017,we had installed by the company, All Things Basementy, a sump pump system complete with a dehumidifier and insulation at the price of $11,000.00. On March, 2019, we called requesting a technician be sent to our property for maintenance of the system. We were scheduled for April 20, 2019. In the meanwhile, due to the enormous amount of rain, and the original misplacement of the end of the drain, water from our system was invading three of our neighbors properties, the one of the side and two behind us. Let us clarify that they placed the end of the drain at our property limit. We told our neighbors, because they were complaining to us, which they had a right to do, that we had an appointment on April 20, 2019 and that we would try to resolve the issue at that time. On April 19, 2019, we received a phone call from Basementy notifying us that they were cancelling the appointment because the technician who was supposed to come had been fired. They then told us that our new appointment was now May 24, 2019. To our embarassment, we had to call our neighbors to notify them to be patient because now we had to wait until May and we pleaded with them not to go to the Town Hall to make a formal complaint against us and subsequently Basementy. Now today, May 21, 2019, we received another phone call from Basementy once again cancelling the May 24, 2019 appointment, and no reason was given this time for the cancellation, and they rescheduled us for June 20, 2019. We called the company and presented our complaint. We spoke with Mike and he promised that he would call us back today after talking with his supervisor but he never called us back. So we just called the office at 6:30 p.m. and was told the office is closed and we were very offended. We were better off to leave water in our crawl space so we would never have been in this predicament of disturbing our neighbors. We were thinking of having some one come and fix the problem but we were worried that it may effect our warranty. Called to find out how much past work on my townhome had cost. The previous owners paid for the work before I moved in so wasn't sure the quote I had was the actual work that was completed and paid as there were quite a few items on the quote and didn't appear to have been needed or added in my basement. Wanted to pass this on to my neighbor to give them an idea of what this type of work may cost. Both understanding that each unit could have different circumstances and this would be a guide to where the cost might start. The lady answering the phone was exceptionally rude. Snapped at me that every job is different. No joke lady that's why its called a guide. I didn't say anything other than "we understand that." Left me hanging on hold forever. Called back and experienced the same thing. Funny when I call and tell them I'm calling to make a service appointment They are never rude, and I've never waited for more than a minute. Seriously, I'm trying to give you business on a not so small or cheap job, and this is how you respond. You already have a reputation of being the costliest in the area, now also the rudest. We have been customers of Connecticut Basement Systems since 2011. Their SaniDry system works well WHEN IT WORKS, which is not all the time. We have spent thousands on repairs and replacements (last new unit 7/27/17) and, at the time it is most needed, such as in 90 degree weather when humidity is at its highest, it has failed again. I would be willing to accept this, except that the first opening for a service call is August 20. Meanwhile, the basement is getting increasingly damp. This is not good service. read more

I have used Connecticut Basement Systems twice to install two curtain drains along the perimeter of my basement inside feeding the drains to two separate sump pumps. Their work is of a very high quality, their technicians provide the proper advice, their production crew come on time, do a very neat, clean and professional job and very polite. I couldn't give zero stars. I called CBS when my water alarm was going off, they would not come out, several calls went nowhere - they never came out. The sale on the front end is MUCH more important to them than repairing their system once it is installed. I have NEVER had poorer customer service from a company with whom I spent so much money. Their system is fine, until you have a problem.... Then you may as well call another company to maintain the dehumidifier, they are only in this for the easy gravy work. The alarm went off again today - guess who I am not going to call? Run, and run fast from these "people"! I first heard about CBS at a home show. They have this great flooring system that is a floating floor, locks together, and looks like tile. We had them come out and quote us on not only that but an entire basement remodel. The salesperson had a laptop where he created a 3d view of our basement and was able to price out (by individual item) what the total cost would be. We decided on only the floor and the installers were there within a few weeks. If I recall the crew that came was 3 people to do roughly 800 sq ft. The lead installer was amazing and went above and beyond. We had a door that was not going to open once the floor was installed. The installer offered to cut the bottom of the door at no additional cost. They also did a great job cleaning the floor of the old tile. I had gotten most of it up but the floor still had some tile stuck to it. One note is that I did not find the products all that cheap. Is that a bad thing? No! If you want a cheap product then they are out there. The quality of the material used and the look of the floor entirely justifies the cost. We only had one other company come out to give us a quote and did not even come close to the experience we had with CBS. read more

We moved into a lovely house with many unsuspected problems including a very wet basement back in Nov of 2017. I did much research to find the best outfit to fix the problem. Ct Basement was not the cheapest. In fact, they were the most expensive by far. But, they were also the yardstick every other company compared themselves to. The job cost us 19,300. And we had to wait weeks for the work to start. BUT, everything went perfectly. As soon as the old debris was removed, I was shocked to find that the garbage of the old walls and flooring they removed had black mold under it. And, with its removal, my wife's athsma cleared up and left town! They did a beautiful job, were very polite and the new installed basement, new sump pump with back up battery, perimeter trench, flooring, etc., all is great. They put a lot of work and material in to do this job with very skilled workmen who worked very hard. Sometimes you get what you pay for. read more

Very expensive for what's involved - make sure you shop around for multiple quotes. CT Basement installed sump pump with battery back-up, Sani-Dry dehumidifier, and water guard in our crawl space. We were told this would be a full two-day job, but the crew finished in 6.5 hours. While I am happy they finished the job quickly, I don't feel like this was worth over $10,000 that we paid. The quality of work seems great, and you will likely be happy if price is no object. If the price had come in cheaper, I would give them five stars. read more

I have been a customer of Connecticut Basement Systems for years. The installers, sales and the service members who come to your home are exceptional. HOWEVER I definitely would not recommend the Sani-Dri dehumidifier, mine lasted only 5 years and despite the service department having it for a week i still have no answers. So for 1 month I have not had a working dehumidifier and they dont seem to care. With servicing every year and the initial cost of the Sami-Dri you'd be better off buying a 70 pints one from Sears, you'd be able to afford 2 a year for the same cost of Sani-Dri. The sump pump systems from CBS though is wonderful. read more

My daughter is getting married this week and we have a house full of guests from out of town. It would not be a very good time to also have to deal with a flood. Bill just left. He was pleasant and clearly knew his business. He did a professional job of cleaning out the sludge, showing me the workings of the system and letting me know realistic expectations on the motor life. That said, I decided to err on the side of caution and replace the motor which he had with him. He finished up and cleaned up everything - then last we walked outside to be sure the ejection area was in order. I can rest assured that what was a panic situation just a short time ago is dealt with. read more

Dishonest sales approach.We needed a dehumdifier.The salesman came to our house and agreed that we needed one.He disparaged the one that was in place as inadequate. We told him that because of the musty smell we needed one installed asap.He agreed that we needed it and gave us an installation date in late november.We were shocked to find out from the installer that the basement had normal humidity and that the musty smell was from the carpet.To make matters worse because of the normal humidity the demufifier will not turn on until the spring. Deceptive marketing at its best.Stay away from these folks.Salesman is nice and will open his lap top and give you a nice presentation.Don't be fooled.Their system is proprietary but it is no better than what is on the market. read more

It was a big job that took place over a three day period. My sales representative, Steven was so helpful and patient with me. All my questions were answered prior to the scheduled work date.
