The day they came out and started the install it was pouring all day. The hatchway area was open for a good 4 plus hours getting completely soaked since there was no canopy being used. The job was not completed that day and nothing was cleaned up. The big issues at the moment are the hatchway is not attached to the foundation. It actually sits over an inch from the foundation on one side and almost an inch on the other. The siding at the top is cut and bending over the top. Even now when I press on the metal plate water squeezes out. The hatchway is unusable now for a month. The company said there was no permit needed but in South Windsor there is a permit needed which makes me wonder how they don't know this already. There is no follow-up happening with this company. My hatchway has been covered with a small tarp for 2 months now. Earlier they said they could not seal the hatchway and will schedule that time, haven't heard again. Over three weeks ago I asked about getting it done and was told they will set up a time, no word. The initial install was December 16 ,It is now February 16 and still no word. Currently I still have an unusable hatchway sitting off the house, no sealing and bent vinyl siding where a hatchway top should sit. I made a error and missed an email about a week prior mentioning that they would like to come out and finish. We ended up getting it finished by 3-4-26 . The person that came mortared the wall and closed off the openings. He also sealed around the base and explained to me what was done. The site was cleaned up and he let me know the hatchway needs to get painted soon. It was iffy there for a while but things were finally complete and it all looks ok. No rain yet to make sure the seals are holding but they look good. read more

We contacted Connecticut Cellar Doors to replace the hatchway on our home. They were quick to come out and give us an estimate, which we accepted, and we waited for the installation. Well it was a little bit of time before they called us to schedule the installation because the holidays happened! Quite understandable. The team came out to install the new hatchway yesterday mid-morning and they were cleaned up and gone by mid-afternoon! It was like they hadn't even been there except that there was a brand new hatchway in the back of our house! They answered every question we had of them and we are very pleased with the hatchway. We purchased and had 8 Basement windows installed. The quality of the installation and follow thru by the owner, Claude, was excellent and exceeded expectations. On the day of install, they were on time, they explained what they were going to do and what they needed (water & electricity access), and went to work. They showed us the first install to make sure all was OK, and once we approved it - they moved to do the other 7 windows. On completion in our walk-thru inspection, jake(?) pre-empted our question on a line crack on the inside pane of one of the windows and explained to us - they will take care of it. The fact that they "pre-empted" our quality question was impressive and always a good sign of a quality provider/install team. We were so impressed with their install and their leadership's quality overview of the installation - that while we were not looking to replace the cellar door right now - we decided to get a quote from them for it - so we will add a cellar door install review on them here - if we move ahead with their quote/delivery terms. SUGGESTIONS to others looking for basement windows: 1. Buy "Direct" from these folks vs going thru your contractor. We are doing total reno on this home, and found a good contractor, but somehow on this project - he dropped the ball here on paying the deposit to these folks right after we paid him, and his delay in putting our deposit down with these folks - brought unexpected and unnecessary delays. So learn from us, and buy/contract with these folks directly. 2. Type of Windows/Flexibility - We are trying to do a total reno, but keeping honest to the original home - which had old style type of cellar doors and those took a bit longer, so check with these folks on delivery times on the type of windows you want, and if you are flexible on the type of window you want - they may be able to provide you with different delivery times. 3. Labor Shortages/COVID - If you, like us, are doing any type of renovations, you need to make sure you find quality/reputable providers first, but also be mindful that labor shortages and COVID waves - like the one we are starting to see again in CT - can unfortunately bring additional delays to your order. Our new HVAC system install with another provider took close to 4 months, and even a simple item like an ocean blue sofabed took 3 months - and these are only a couple of examples of some of our challenges in this Reno during this COVID/Labor Shortage time. read more

This company's service guarantee is definitely in the cellar. They had to be called back to finish the caulking process-no quality control!! They did not uphold their service promise to clean up! They left a backbreaking mess that we had to clean up ourselves. When we requested a price adjustment since we had to clean up, they refused. Very poor service and I highly recommend that you choose another company. They were very expensive which we should realize does not always align with top service. Stay far away from these losers. read more

Sales people were fine but the actual installers were incredibly rude. Barely spoke to me and wouldn't explain what they were doing. The final product appears to be working properly but if any follow-up work is required I would definitely request someone else. read more

I was do excited to get my pool with coping and patio done in rubberstone, but what a disappointment in ended up being. The workers showed up at 10:15 am and were ready to start working at 11:00. On the first day, they started the patio and couldn't finish, thus causing seam lines. It also had several bubbles and they had only laid 1/4 inch versus 1/2 inch stated in the amended contract and in the sample provided to me. I had to request that it be rectified so the owner had the workers lay a second coat and I was pleased with the results. I was very disappointed with the pool. They started laying it properly but the workers became extremely sloppy. There's a lot of raised pebbles throughout the surrounding which I became aware when I went into the pool several days later. In addition, the workers have no regard for ones property smearing glue residue on my brick patio. I gave them a 2 star because Steven the director of operations was very helpful in resolving some issues. This company needs a whole lot more experience with the rubberstone material. I hope other companies in Connecticut start offering these services. 2018- This company gave me such a run around this year when I asked for my pool surrounding to be fixed under the warranty. The pool surrounding was blanketed with a whiteness and the rubberstone was falling apart around the pool. I trusted the director of operations Steven who came out in June and promised to come out in a few weeks to fix it and contact the Canadian supplier for a resolution to the whiteness. He made every excuse in the book and didn't uphold his promises. WORST company I've ever dealt with. Save yourself a headache and find a more professional company who knows what true customer service is. Pursuing a small claims suit against them. read more
