Reflections on Wood is hands down one of the best flooring companies in Connecticut. I recently had Nick complete two jobs for me. One was a refinish of a 20 year old floor in a condo and the other was a completely new install at a house. Nick and his crew did an amazing job with both projects. The flooring in both projects needed a stain to match existing flooring. The stain match was spot on and the finish on the floors were very smooth. PRICING: Nick's pricing always came in best out of all the quotes I received. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Nick provided excellent customer service. He was always accessible via text and phone. Any concerns I had, he addressed them immediately. He also provided advice regarding floor care. FUTURE JOB: I plan to use Nick in the spring to have him add another layer of clearcoat to a job another flooring company did which I'm not very happy with. read more

Our real estate agent recommended Nick and his company to us as we wanted to upgrade our new house's floors from carpeting to wood floors. At first he was quick to respond, quote was great, he did our floors.. 2-3 month in some of the flooring started lifting up and squeaking. we also noticed that his guys left some of the floor endings unfinished where the attic doors were and storage under the roof is located.. we reached out and tried to call him. every day for almost two weeks. We left voice mails too but no response. Until somehow he thought I was a new client and called me back to let me know he is absolutely available. I though this was weird but I told him who I was and asked him to come back to the house. He promised he would and we made an appointment with him over text. He never showed. At this point we asked our real estate to reach out to him to see of he would respond to her. ..he did. He finally came to the house and said all the problems with the floor are because of the house and not him. But promised to fix the unfinished ends. He suggested a date and time to us, we said yes to it, and again he never showed up. To me and my husband it seems that he will take a new job (and your money) quick but will not follow up and take responsibility for anything he (or his workers) didn't do right. We never expected him to fix anything for free either (altho payment never came up when we talked about fixing the problems) we also think 3 months after new floors being installed there should be zero problems with it and should fall under warranty. I highly advise you NOT to hire him if you want someone who will want to keep a good relationship with you as their happy client. We are also contacting BBB to file an official complaint. read more

I recently hired Reflections to refinish the hardwood floors on my first floor after a pipe leak. The estimate was easily scheduled and the guy got right to the point - no spiel about the quality of their oils or whatever. Just "here's what we do, here's what it costs, here's how long it will take". We had one hiccup with a timing miscommunication, but otherwise everything went smoothly (haha, get it?). My floors look brand new - to the point where my mother got down for a closer look to make sure it wasn't just contact paper! I am so, so happy that I chose Reflections. read more

I cannot say enough great things about Nick and his company. We originally had nick out to quote replacing our carpets on the stairs, hallways, and 3 bedrooms back in Feb 2020. Then Covid hit and we did nothing. We had Nick back out to quote us in Feb 2021 and he kept all his original prices. We added in refinishing the first floor living room and hallway as well. He threw in extras that other were quoting us over $1000 for with no extra price. He was great at communicating, educating us on our floors, choice of color, and his price was much less then all other quotes we received. He gave us a timeframe and was exact on it. He even came back after the job was complete, to review instructions and make sure we were happy. What an amazing comany and genuinely nice man. We will always know where to go for any flooring. Really disappointed to give this a bad review. I was looking forward to working with Nick. When he originally came to my house to give me a quote on refinishing my floors he was super knowledgeable, answered all of my questions, and seemed very reputable. My girlfriend recommended him to me (she used him about 5 years ago) and other people and never had a problem. We booked a 10am appointment for the following month. I called Nick a few times leading up to the appointment. I always left a message and eventually he would call me back by the end of the day. Until the week before. I called him, left a message, and he returned my call. I asked to confirm the appointment but he said he had no idea at that moment the details of our next week appointment. I suggested we connect a few days later to confirm. Upon hanging up I realized I had another question and immediately called him back with no answer. And I still haven't heard from him since. The day of the appointment he was a no show. I called him three times and he never answered, never called back. Very disappointed as he seemed very knowledgeable and good at his craft. However, the unprofessionalism and complete lack of communication left me leaving him a poor review. read more

I had gotten Nicks name from a painting company that he was reputable for refinishing floors. Like the other reviews, I talked with nick and he seemed professional and came to the house and gave me a date to start. The day before I confirmed via text but then he started not answering. The day he was to begin (he said it would take three days) he never responded then told me he could only do it the week after. It was a new house and we were moving in and therefore could not get our floors done due to his unreliability. I am so disappointed our floors can not be refinished because we have to move in and he was not reliable. Steer clear!! read more

When we hired Nick to put our floors in, we thought we were getting someone who cared and knew what we wanted. We also hired him at the same time to do our stairs. Well we got nothing but a mess. Floors started splintering, cracking down the middle of the wood, and lifting. Nick came and replaced 3 pieces of wood, then told us the wood must be defective. He said he was going out to his truck to call the manufacturer, came back in and told me they would call me. They never did. He refused to give me the receipt for the wood. I am very saddened to write this review as I have known him for years. He has done work for me in the past and I was always very satisfied. Recently, i had a problem with a terrible odor from the varnish that has now lasted over 3 weeks. We agreed that this was not normal. I texted him that we needed to come up with a remedy and also sent him a letter. I never heard back. He schedules too many jobs in one day. The days my jobs were being done, there were 6 others according to his staff. They clearly did something wrong. I have had other contractors come out and they pointed out missed spots, hair under the poly etc. I think he needs to go back to the days where he was on the job and/or looks at the job thoroughly when the crews are done and not schedule several in one day. I guess you really get to know someone when you have a problem. not what I expected from Nick at all. read more
