Amber did an amazing job with Bailey. I was so nervous before bringing Bailey for her first day of 2 weeks of board and train. I was concerned about the e collar and how Bailey would respond. She's a 5 month mini goldendoodle. Amber not only reassured me that Bailey would be fine but she also took the time to answer all of our questions. I've been waiting a while to write this review and have to say I was so incredibly disappointed by my experience with this company. There were plenty of red flags from the start but I had seen lots of good reviews online and ignored them - which was a mistake. I made several phone calls and emails to inquire about setting up a time for my dog to do the board and train. I finally got in touch with Alex (who I believe is the owner or manager), who set me up with a trainer and said the trainer would be in touch to provide and address and confirm a time. The trainer never reached out or replied to any of my emails during the month in between when we were introduced and when my dog was supposed to go to his trining. After several attempts to contact both the trainer and Alex, Alex got back to me and said that my initial trainer was unable to help but that she would train my dog herself. I dropped Lucky off with her and received several great videos and updates throughout his time. It appeared he was making great progress. I will say, Alex's communication was relatively poor throughout. It consistently took her over a day or two to get back to me - and as dog owners we know that updates are important when dogs are away from home. I got my dog back and it seemed almost all of his training went out the window within a day or two of his returning. I followed all of Alex's instructions and he was perhaps more stubborn than he ever was before. I contacted Alex and mentioned I was going to be near her for a weekend, and she offered to take him for another 3 days and train him. The training comes with a guarantee so the additional training was included. When I got my dog back the second time, she not only forgot his personalized LL Bean dog collar, but the TRAINING COLLAR as well. I have attempted to contact her 4 or 5 times but she has literally never gotten back to me. So now it is impossible to keep up with the trainings provided by this company as I literally do not have the e-collar to do it! I am so disappointed in this. I essentially flushed thousands of dollars down the toilet. I would have given 1 star but Alex was nice and treated my dog well. I am sure Alex is great with dogs and a good trainer, but this is terrible business. I wish I could get my money back or have taken him elsewhere. Do NOT recommend. read more

We dropped our 2 year old white GSD Mattie with Matt Hiser, in Bolton, CT, for the two week board and train. Mattie was struggling with consistency while out and about and needed to clean up her manners. Matt was receptive to our concerns and goals. He sent video clips and photos to update Mattie's progress. When we returned to pick her up Matt spent several hours with us going over everything Mattie learned and exactly how we should work with her at home. Mattie has been great since returning home. She is well mannered and eager to work every day. She knows all her commands (Sit, Down, Come, Stay, Place). She is doing great with extended down/stay and is a pleasure to have out in public. We would recommend Matt for any of your training needs. His experience and demeanor are second to none. read more

Don was the trainer assigned to Ume for the two week program. He took great care of her and updated with videos everyday, sometimes twice a day! I was amazed at how quickly Ume was learning and how happy she looked in the videos. When I got her back she was much better at listening and now I have the ability to control her behavior. Don gave a really detailed and easy to understand lesson the day I picked up Ume. I recommend him because he is very caring and gentle with dogs. Horrible communication!!! Would respond to emails and get no answer . On third email I got from them "since we haven't heard back from you"....I sent them a 4th email with my number and received an apology stating they had email server issues. Needless to say the texting was just as bad as the email as they didn't respond, apologized again and promised a call later one evening...and guess what...........no call! read more

The training was great! our trainer, Glendon (Don), was the best... you could see he really loved dogs, he quickly built a rapport with our dog Neo, And sent us updates on his training throughout. Our giant Schnauzer pup, who was too smart for his own good and very energetic was no match for Don. We used this business for a 2 week board & train. It is 3 years later. After the dog was returned, there is NO follow up. You will get your dog back with a collar, an hour of instruction and then they disappeared. I have tried for so long to get them to help at all. They reply to emails (maybe), do not return phone calls EVER. They guaranteed in the contract to do refreshers as needed and then do a week long board & train if warranted. This is the problem, they return emails maybe after a few weeks, then they give you someone else to email with, who will run you around with repeating questions and forms, until you give up. It is my opinion this is a systematic fraud to make you just give up. The trainer returned an email 3 weeks after I wrote it to say she is sooooo busy, what is going on to correct, and then she ghosts me. The guarantee is worthless as they told me they have only once readmitted a dog. Now I am left looking for a new trainer. These people suck & I would not trust them with my dog. read more

Our year old rescue was trained by trainer Don. She was timid, wouldn't listen to commands unless in our home. In two weeks she returned so well trained. She can sit, stay, heel, and even in the most distracting situations she obeys. We just took her to a street fair with people/dogs/food/music and when I said sit, she sat and stayed until released to heel. I never could have done this myself. We have an energetic, sweet poodle puppy, who is also stubborn and somewhat willful. She was a lot to handle with two senior dogs in the house as well. After some debate, we decided to try CT Off Leash K-9 training. We chose the two-week boarding program. Don was great. He was very communicative. We received daily updates from him. You could tell he has a lot of experience with dogs. Our puppy is now a much better listener. She doesn't pull when we walk her. We couldn't be happier with sending our dog, Guinness to Nikki at Connecticut off leash K9 training. We have an 8 month old Presa Canario. For those of you who don't know it's a Spanish Mastiff, which is a veryyyyy stubborn breed. Typically they are alpha dogs and try to challenge you. I thought to myself how much could she reallyyyyy change him? He's a great dog but was easily distracted and like I said stubborn. When we would have company over he would be so excited that we had no control over him and he would jump on our guests, nip at their clothes, hump them.. you name it he did it. He also had tendency's of barking in our face when he really wanted attention. Another issue I had was when I would walk him (he's 90lbs-still growing and I'm petite) it was like playing tug of war if he saw something that excited him. When he wanted to behave he would but only if he wanted to, like I said before, very stubborn. I thought to myself how much could Nikki really change him? There's no way he's going to be perfect like the dogs on tv lol. Well I was wrong, he came back a totally different dog. Still very happy and his goofy innocent playful self but soooo well behaved and more controlled. I was able to walk him OFF LEASH with all distractions surrounding us (neighbors outside, dogs barking, cars etc) while he walked he was by my side and when I told him to sit he sat and didn't move until I gave him the command to break. I was shocked. Totally different dog. I was like who are you??? The real test was when our friends came over later that day... he didn't jump or hump. We highly recommend Nikki at Off-Leash k9 training! Our year-old goldendoodle, Rocket is a really sweet dog. However, he had boundless energy, and the usual treat training wasn't achieving the results we wanted. My wife was losing patience with him, and we needed to change our approach. We heard about Nikki through neighbors in the area, several of which hired her and vouched for her impressive results. She uses an e-collar, which I was hesitant about at first, but we made the leap and let her do her thing. Before: -Jumping up on people -Barking early in the morning to tell us he was ready to wake up! -Chasing squirrels, birds, blowing leaves, and anything that moved while on leash -Knew a few commands, but only followed them when he wanted -Unhappy wife that didn't really want the dog around After: -After reinforcement at home, no more jumping up on people -No more barking -Now walks off leash with him on my left side, and not chasing after stuff! -Knows "Sit", "Down", "Place", "Break", "Load", "Heel"; follows them about 90% of the time without needing to use the e-collar. -Wife LOVES the dog! As for my reservations about the e-collar - Nikki had me hold it in my hand, and she zapped me on "HI". Although it wasn't a feeling I would choose to have, it didn't hurt at all. More startling, really. I would liken it to receiving stim from the physical therapist, with varying degrees of intensity. Nikki clearly cares for the dogs she trains, and we always felt that Rocket was in a loving environment during his training. He came home after his 2-weeker a happy, but MUCH better-behaved dog. We sent our 5 month old Bernedoodle for the 2 week B&T. Alex was our trainer. She was amazing. Our dog went from chewing and being dragged on a leash to a completely trained off leash dog. We were simply amazed! I would love to give 5 stars but I simply can't. We were told that after paying over $2000 for this service that we would be able to call with any questions (a lifetime guarantee, haha). Well, I've tried to call, email and even called the corporate office and have gotten zero response. I have the most stubborn Mini Dachshund who always liked to test my limits. We had tried training her at home, but she just knew her cuteness would be in charge. I am so happy I found Off Leash and Glendon to break her running the show. She came back a brand new dog! Glendon sent us constant updates with pictures and videos to show her progress. We can't thank Nikki enough for her amazing work with Diesel. Diesel is our 3 year old Bulldog and due to busy schedules we hadn't invested as much time in his training as we did our 6 year old bulldog. He was lacking understanding of basic commands and was constantly jumping on everyone and pulling while trying to go for walks. After two weeks with Nikki he is a new dog. If I could give a 0 rating, I would. Just as another posted, they took my money, had to wait 6 weeks to start due to them being so booked. Then about 2 weeks prior to when the board & train was to start, I checked in-they said they had no reservation, when I showed them I did, they apologized, and gave me a different trainer's name. Never heard from her. I tried calling & emailing without success. Finally 2 days prior to my reservation to start, I get an email stating my dog would not be a good fit due to some separation anxiety-I told them she barks when I leave. I also told them she tries to nip at people coming in the house, so they said she is aggressive and won't work with her. She is 16 lbs, is due to fear, she is a rescue. They have videos about how they train dogs for these behaviors, but then tell me they won't take her. I called, left numerous messages, never got return calls. Finally got a hold of someone who promised to call me back...but never did. I requested a refund, they didn't do it. Had to contact AMEX to get it. This company was such a disappointment. I think they need training on how to run a business. RUN AWAY. read more
