When we arrived, we were told that we had to reposition our residents onto a stretcher. Our residents require a specialized Hoyer lift for all transfers and we do not travel with our lift. After explaining that and discussing that we could completely tilt our residents back in their wheelchairs (which we have done previously at dental appointments) we were told that the specialist still did not feel comfortable treating our residents. This practice should review ADA regulations.

New Haven Dental Associates did both and booked me in for a quick diagnostic and x-ray work. I rushed over and found they're located in the Chapel Medical Center right in front of St. Raphael's. The entrance is somewhat dodgy - no sign, no indication of what offices are in the building, you have to go in through the back door into a tiny little porch, up two flights of stairs, through a rather empty corridor. But once I walked in the office, I was greeted by two smiling assistants. Everyone I spoke to was extremely kind and helpful - which is a giant plus when you're dealing with major toothache and the world seems like a nasty place. I was promptly seen by Dr. Sripathi who gave me a quick diagnostic, told me how to control the pain before I was able to get a tooth extraction booked, and referred me to the oral surgeon, Dr. Sorrentino, across the hall (literally) because their own surgical schedule was fully booked. A bonus for all 80s lovers out there: the office is decked out in imitation marble cabinets, floors and textured walls, it's supremely cheesy and wonderful.

I called to schedule a second appointment for a teeth cleaning. The front office receptionist…read moreinformed me that my account was deactivated, the system was down, preventing reactivation, and there were no available appointments for two months. When I inquired why my account was deactivated, she stated it was because I was upset about the cost of fillings and had said I wouldn't return. This is not accurate. During my first visit, I received a full-mouth X-ray and a teeth cleaning from a dentist (not Dr. Avanzato). The dentist reviewed the X-rays, said everything looked good, and recommended a return visit in six months. Before leaving the exam room, I asked about fillings to address a gap in my upper teeth due to receding gums. The dentist directed me to the front desk, where I received a quote that seemed exorbitant. I mentioned that my previous dentist had billed my insurance plan and co-pay for significantly less and indicated I wouldn't get the work done there. The receptionist was not present during my consultation with the dentist. Despite my corrections, the receptionist continued to claim I had refused treatment. I ended the conversation because it was unproductive. After this, I decided not to return to the practice and went to retrieve my dental records. The receptionist claimed she had already emailed a copy of my records and mailed a letter on the same day of my service. I never received either. She again insisted I needed two fillings, which I hadn't requested. I asked her to just send me the records. Later that day, I received an email with a copy of my X-rays and a note that a duplicate letter had been mailed. Two days later, I received a letter, dated the day of my service, stating that I would be better served by seeking another dentist due to a breakdown in the doctor-patient relationship. I had already decided to seek another dentist, but this situation makes me question who makes decisions at this practice, the dentist or the receptionist, who seemed to be providing misleading and inaccurate information.

I had a TERRIBLE experience at Diamond Dental today, with Dr. V specifically!! I went in because a…read morecrown of mine (that was done in their office) fell off, for the second time. It was originally done in 2020, and fell off for the first time in 2021. She told me that she was going to have to charge me to re-cement it. (I don't have insurance) I asked how much. After about 10 min of runaround with her & the billing specialist, I was told the charge would be $150! I told her that I would pay it because I have no choice, but that i thought it was ridiculous that I would have to pay that much money to glue a crown back on. (I had a previous crown on a different tooth that lasted me 15+ years without ever coming off!) At that point, she told me that she was not going to put it back on for me because "I don't trust her work"! So, after spending almost 2 hours there, I had to leave without getting the crown put on, at 3pm. She was aware that I was going to NC tomorrow and there's no way I would be able to get in with any other dentist this late in the day. And she actually looked really pleased with herself for refusing to do the work. It was honestly the most unprofessional experience I have ever had at any dental office. I hadn't been into the office for a long time, for personal reasons. She took several opportunities to point that out to me as well. As if that was the reason my crown (which to my understanding is permanent & should not be coming off multiple times) came off. I have a lot of dental issues. I have spent thousands of dollars at this office & have family members that have spent tens of thousands. I actually talked to Dr. V today about finally putting together a plan to get to the bottom of all my issues. And now I have to find another office. I really loved Dr. Wong, but he is there anymore. The rest of the staff in the office are AMAZING & SO KIND!! The office is beautiful, with all the newest technology. There are so many nice things I can say about the office in general. But after today, I will not be returning. The way that Dr. V handled the entire situation was extremely UNPROFESSIONAL & UNETHICAL. I now have to drive to NC without my fragile tooth unprotected and deal with it when I come back. All because the crown that they did has fallen out twice in less than 5 years, and I told her that I felt taken advantage of for being charged $150 for that!!

It hurt my gums and after 2 months it actually fell off so I went back to them and they replaced it. One year later, the crown fell off again. I went back again but they refused to replace it for free like any decent dentist would have done. So I had to pay out of my pocket for a new crown made by a different dentist (the insurance won't help, they only pay for a replacement once every 5 years). The dentists and hygienists seem nice, and they might even be good professionals, but I don't think they stand a chance to prove it because they are so rushed by their corporate management. They seem so overbooked; they simply don't have the time to do their job properly. This is a fact confirmed by a friend who used to work for them as a hygienist.

Even if you are a loyal customer who has spent thousands of dollars, if you get COVID or any other thing that prevents you from making your appointment and do not notify them until less than 24 hours in advance, you will be the recipient of a cancellation fee "money grab" and an extremely angry, unprofessional, vile office manager. Expert Dental was recommended to me by Husky. Their office is clean. The staff is excellent and will answer any questions I have. Today I came in for a free appointment for my dentist just to make sure the filling she replaced was still OK. i'd been knocking it out multiple times over the past two or three years with my old dentist. it was still solid. She cared that the work was still solid, even with my tooth grinding. when I'd gotten the filling last week, I discovered there was a high point after the anesthesia wore off. She was able to see me that same day to fix it, probably why it's still solid. I recommend this office highly.
