I thought I was on deaths door five years ago (2019). I was passing out at work because of the pain and pressure on my spinal column. I was fortunate enough to get an emergency surgery with Dr. Doherty. He showed me a picture of the bone growth he removed from my neck that was the size of a quarter. He then performed a fusion on my C6-C7. I walked out of the hospital the next morning with no neck brace, no physical therapy, and no pain or narcotic medicine needed. If I did not have sleep apnea, he was going to send me home the same day as the surgery. Five years later, 2024, I had my C5-C6 fused. This surgery was more difficult because of the scar tissue which has made my recovery longer. Dr. Doherty is the best there is and I would never go to another surgeon for neck issues. His communication with his patients is amazing and it is in a timely manner. I have to clarify; it was Dr. Doherty got back to me not anyone else. I have never had that commitment and dedication from a doctor, especially a surgeon of his caliber.

When I got to center I asked if I would owe anything and the person at the desk said only $45 for the office visit. Today I got a bill for $222. I asked billing why and they said $45 for the office visit and the difference was my co-pay that my insurance required I pay. If I knew that the bill would be so high I would never have done the evaluation. I was not having any symptoms except a bulging vein. I would tell anyone considering going to them get the payment information in writing. Very mad at the bill I received.

Rachel did the ultrasound of both my legs. Even though I was a little nervous, she was kind, gentle and knowledgeable. Based on her ultrasound, she found the cause of my varicose Vein issues. After cortisone shots and an eventual MRI, I was told that I do not have a tear or anything else that can be fixed with surgery, and given a prescription for physical therapy. I was not happy about this at all - I wanted a quick fix to be pain free and thought (naively) that surgery was the answer. I live close to Spectrum, so based on physical proximity (and the recommendation of a friend) I made an appointment with Corey. Long story short, I am in 95% less pain, sleep all night through again, and have far more range of motion than I did a few months ago. Therapy is as much fun as working hard can be, but we DO laugh (often) and I AM so much better than I was. The facility is clean, well-lit, and the bathroom is clean, too. Corey seem to have all the requisite tools, AND the necessary expertise. He is not just competent and trained in his field, he is so contagiously passionate about health and fitness! I would unequivocally recommend Corey and Spectrum.

The check was not received in 60 days now but promised in 3 weeks. No one seems to know what is going on at your branch in Middletown regarding this. They say the check is in the mail but months pass and no refund was ever received. They don't return calls over there either. Can you speak to someone in your Middletown staff to facilitate this. This is the most unprofessional behavior I have ever experienced from any dental company. Please resolve this asap, TY. The dentist I went to said no, he could not in good conscience and said it would also have to be pulled. Found an excellent periodontist , Dr. Gulino, in Groton. He saw me the same day, knowing I was suffering and a week later he removed the stiches and said Im healing there nicely. What a difference in quality of care and compassion.

When I attempted to pre-register online the system told me that the birthdate I entered did not match what they had in their system and would not let me proceed. I called the office and told them about the issue, verifying my birthdate for them. The next day they called and said they had fixed the problem and to try again. I did, but the problem remained. So, the day of my appointment I arrived 25 minutes early to fill in the paperwork. I then proceeded to wait for my 10:30 appointment. At about 11:00 I was taken into an exam room and told the doctor was finishing up with his last patient and would be in shortly. And so I waited some more. After waiting for more than a full hour, I decided that we could no longer wait. I informed the staff we were leaving and asked them for my copay to be returned. At that point, I was told (again) that the doctor was finishing up and could see me soon. No thank you! I understand that "emergencies" can come up during the day's appointments, but I have decided that my time is as important as any doctor's time, and I will not wait for longer than an hour to see anyone. So doctors, fix your scheduling systems, and do what it takes to show your patients that you value them and their time. As an addendum, I was waiting with my husband, who runs his own engineering firm, and if he were to show up over an hour late for his appointments with clients, that would be a complete lack of professionalism. They may have great doctors at The Hand Center, but they are not the only game in town. I now have an appointment with another highly regarded orthopedic practice.
