Blueberry Donut Hunt The quest continues for the best blueberry donut. Connie's is a cute little donut house with charm. The shelves were full of scrumptious looking treats but I was here for just one. The blueberry cake donut of course! I also got a raspberry krispie bar for my mom (the bite I took was yummy!) I absolutely felt welcomed and the owner/operator was so sweet! I also loved all the plants! The blueberry cake was light and flavorful. Good amount of blueberry with that magical purple hue inside. The food is always great. The customer service is great. They do have a small parking lot which is shared with other businesses that can make it difficult but the ambience not really too much but you can definitely get your needs met. Same lady everyday, faithful to the community. Regular returners are funny old boomer men, and they come in daily, and she is kind to them and they are kind to her, and they are kind to each other. Sometimes transgender and gays come in, and the boomers tolerate it. They eat donuts together rather than kill each other. Veterans come in, immigrants too. Everyone keeps coming back for donuts, and it feels like a neighborhood thing. Donuts are on my top three places in Tacoma area, but the actually dine in area is unbeatable. Adventuring to Connie's Donuts on Wednesday 2 August 2023, I found one vehicle in the strip of gravel parking on the side of the building. I parked my car, went inside and ordered a chocolate twist donut (price was $1.50, I tipped the $0.50 coinage from paying with cash). The worker was friendly and I got my donut quickly. Two other vehicles pulled in after me and were in and out in rapid time as well. I could taste the dough of the twist donut, and the twist pulled apart in a twisted and cooked dough fashion. This is a little doughnut hole in the wall on 43rd and Pacific. You walk in, order your donuts and/or coffee and walk out. You can "dine in" but space is very limited. Their doughnuts are about what you'd expect, but I especially like their apple fritters. They serve a mean cup of coffee too, and the lady who seems to be the only one serving no matter when you visit, is always friendly. I think it's just her and her husband who run the place. Oh, and they have an interesting collection of decorative plants (especially orchids) and other knick-knacks. Check those out if you go there! read more

I'll be real. I don't live too far from Connie's, but just recently became a continuous customer. Not sure what took me so long to come here. The donut selections are vast and satisfying. Service was great! The lady behind the counter was attentive and helpful. Go figure my first time in, I purchase 2 dozen for work. It's a small business with a few chairs and tables around. It's really a community type business and the folks really care about Connie's. There is a small pull-in lot on the side of the store, but the concrete to park there has seen better days, so be mindful if you own a low to the ground car. Walking in the ambiance is an old fashioned bakery. Clean tables with enough seating for 3 small parties. There was a good selection of fresh made donuts even though we got there at close to noon on a Saturday. I got the chocolate cake donut with Chocolate sprinkles, a chocolate glaze old fashioned, a glazed old fashioned, and an apple fritter, as well as a hazelnut latte. Everything was classically delicious! The chocolate cake donut was so chocolately, full of flavor and moist! The Old fashions were traditional and crispy. The apple fritter was the best I have ever had, it was light and fully with plenty of apple pieces inside, a crispy outside shell with the right amount of glaze on top. The latte was hot and creamy and perfect for dipping the apple fritter in! I loved everything I got and was able to take some home for later. Connie's is one of the only places worth going within walking distance of our home. The quality is totally consistent, they have it down to a science there, and they are always friendly and warm with customers. I wish I could speak to the full variety in the case, but we are creatures of habit and always get the same thing, two maple bars (which are so delicious with just the right amount of icing) and two coffees. I've tried about 5 specialty donut shops in the greater Tacoma area, and Connie's definitely takes the cake (no pun intended). In addition to being very fresh and tasty, the variety is plentiful and unique. The buttermilk bars w/ cream I haven't seen anywhere else (and the cream actually tasted fresh, not the bag/bottle nonsense most try pass for cream). The apple fritter w/ choc. was also a unique offering, and as a chocolate buff, I really loved that. The French cruller was definitely the highlight, though; the consistency of the dough was spot on, light and fluffy, while not feeling like you're biting into air. Also, the choc. frosting tasted fresh (not canned) and the ratio of frosting to dough was more generous than any I've seen (about 50/50). Will definitely return! read more

I was searching through Yelp for a donut shop that sells crullers and Connie's Donuts instantly caught my eye. My boyfriend and I live in Federal Way and wanted to escape quarantine for a bit to go on a donut run. We made the best choice, in my opinion. We called ahead to see if Connie's was actually open during these Covid-19 times and she picked up right away saying, "Yes, yes, just come on in." We arrived around noon. The owner, who I assume was Connie, was very helpful, friendly, and fast. We got a dozen of the variety that was there. Definitely loaded up on the crullers and they did not disappoint. She even threw in an extra donut for us. Thank you!! All the choices we had were delicious. Overall, I believe we made a really good decision with this small donut shop. I hear from a friend that (during normal times) it would get really busy in the mornings and would sell out of fritters, which I will have to try next time. And there will definitely be a next time. If you are in the greater Seattle-Tacoma-Olympia area and need a donut, go here. First off I feel like I am cheating Connie when I buy a dozen donuts here because it is less than $10, and I am telling you these donuts are the best. The donut was dusted with powdered sugar and had a slight crisp to the outside, giving way to the soft, slightly-chewy donut filled generously with lemon.
