The donuts all look great, I am basic with the plain donuts, trying the plain cake (old fashion) and the mochi (Japanese fusion pastry) were both tasty. Never had a mochi but it is a soft chewy donut. Plenty of donuts at 1p, which is hard to find. The space is small, no internal seating, so take and go or potential outdoor seating for better weather days. The servers were busy but very nice and quick to get the donuts and coffee. The coffee is local (Olympic Coffee) and they also sell boba teas. Highly recommend to stop by and support the small business while shopping or on your walk. I did not know of this spot, just happen to be next store shopping and wanted a coffee and donut. Understand these are gourmet donuts and not a typical shop or grocery store. If I could rate this a zero, I would. Starting with the service, we walked in at 2:50ish (on 3/15) to total silence. Nobody was at the front (not an issue), but we were left for 3-5 minutes just standing awkwardly waiting for someone to come out of the back, only to hear a yelling voice "I'll be right there!" from the back and proceed to take a few minutes more. Finally, frantic employee comes out unapologetic and takes the order. The service was terrible but the coffee was prepared atrociously. An iced americano that came out looking like someone accidentally spilled a drop of coffee into a cup of ice water. The iced late was a cup of milk with a light splash of coffee for color. 0/0 for coffee + hospitality. Reevaluate this employee or their training. read more

Four stars for a decent milk tea and excellent mochi doughnuts with great service. They had a nice variety of donuts and had made lots of each flavor. The mochi donuts were better than the non mochi donuts but overall they were both above average. Brought some to a friend several hours later and they were still fresh/tasty/held up well. I've been here a couple times before, but my sister is visiting and she wanted to try so we stopped by early to get a good selection. The have a nice selection of mochi and original donuts to chose from, including some unique flavors like horchata and lavender. We got a selection of a few different flavors to share and try. The texture of the mochi donuts is good but not overly chewy like some mochi donuts can be. Original donut is light and fluffy while still maintaining flavor. The also serve coffee, lattes, cold brew and lotus energy drinks. My sister got a cold brew with lavender and toasted marshmallow syrup, which she enjoyed. We've been into Milkvue a number of times. They're very close to home (even though they're in Gig Harbor) and we always get very friendly service when we stop in. The mochi donuts are great - try the lychee if they have it - and the blueberry fritter is fantastic (but very large). We've tried many of the mochi donuts and liked them all. We had a chance to meet the owner Sung (hope I'm spelling that correctly) at an event and he mentioned that he has black sesame ice cream. What?!?! So we had to stop in and grab some. We thanked him again for attending the event and decided on some coffee ice cream as well. It's early for ice cream so I'll amend the review to let you all know how it is. In the meantime, if you want a mochi donut on the West End or Gig Harbor, stop in at Milkvue and let Sung's team set you up. Later that same day... OMG. Tried the black sesame ice cream. Holy moly. I got raspberry and peach mochi donuts and my friend got maple bacon. Maple bacon donuts are pretty hard to find these days, so that was pretty exciting. The peach was really good and the raspberry was excellent, but they were my first mochi donuts, and I didn't really notice much difference between them and regular donuts. I would definitely come here again because they have flavors that are hard to find anywhere else, but the higher price made me hope for donuts that would absolutely blow my mind, and it fell just a little short. read more

I haven't been able to go their storefront but been to their pop ups and now that they have them at metropolitan market, it's my go to :) I have tried their mochi donuts (ube and churro), fritters, filled donuts, regular donuts and now, their packzi. I honestly have to say that my favorite is their vanilla custard filled donuts. It's soft and light and is filled with vanilla custard. But literally everything is good. We just try the jelly filled packzi today and it's really good. I'm hoping they have more flavors available at metropolitan market but one day, I will find time to go their brick and mortar. Milkvue Handcrafted Donuts + Coffee opened in Gig Harbor in December 2019. Owners Seung Kim and Damien Anh serve mochi donuts and regular donuts, but they are best known for their mochi donuts. Seung worked on the mochi doughnut recipe for a year to perfect it. They also sell Olympic Roasting Company coffee and handcrafted ice cream. Mochi donuts are made with sweet glutinous rice flour which results in a chewy donut. Milkvue takes their donuts to the next level by adding creative toppings. They also use fresh yeast, and clean their oil daily. My first visit to Milkvue was in August 2021. There were so many intriguing options that I was unable to narrow it down to any less than 6 mochi donuts, which is a lot for a solo traveler. But I ended up with a 7th donut because the kind young woman serving me asked if I had ever had an Everything doughnut. I told her I had not, but that I didn't care for Everything seasoning. She said she didn't either until she tried this donut and insisted that I try one. And so I did. In addition to a cream filled Everything donut, I got the following: Cinnamon Sugar Chocolate Lemon Filled Vanilla Bean Blueberry Lavender Raspberry The cream-filled Everything donut was better than expected. I LOVED the rest of the flavors. Of the seven, my favorite were the Blueberry Lavender, Raspberry, Lemon Cream Filled, and Chocolate. For my second visit in 2022, I limited myself to one donut and chose Chocolate. Milkvue uses Valrhona chocolate, which is a Premium French chocolate. For me, the combination of that particular chocolate with a mochi donut is Perfection! I really wanted to try the ice cream but I didn't have a way to keep it cold over the course of a long road trip. I'm getting ready to visit Gig Harbor again and hope to be able to stop by and try at least one new flavor, possibly Ube. Or a fritter. Milkvue is famous for their fritters, which come in Apple, Blueberry, and Raspberry. If you're ever anywhere near Gig Harbor, you must stop and check out Milkvue Handcrafted Donuts + Coffee! I was interested to see what the hype was for these mochi donuts, but I was disappointed. I've had mochi donuts in Cali and Hawaii and I can say those taste different to these. These tasted a bit dryer and less like mochi than what I've tried. I will say the flavors all looked good, but we kept it basic and got the blueberry lavender and vanilla bean. Note that Milkvue IS OPEN during COVID for TAKEOUT ONLY. My family and I took a day trip to Gig Harbor a few weeks ago and stopped by here to get our fill of donuts. My dad had read about Milkvue in Puget Sound Magazine as a foodie stop known for their mochi donuts and unique flavors. By the time we arrived at around 11AM, the owner said they had already run out of certain mochi donut flavors. The only mochi donut flavors they had left were earl grey and cinnamon sugar. However, she had an abundance of handcrafted donuts ranging from Vanilla Bean to Lemon Fruity Pebbles to Horchata. They were all beautifully glazed and presented in a rainbow of colors in a glass case. They varied in price depending on the type of donut, but all raised donuts were $2.99 each. We decided to order one horchata raised donut and one blueberry lavender donut to share. Both donuts were extremely fluffy, but I liked the flavor of the blueberry lavender one more. The horchata one just didn't have enough cinnamon and tasted more like vanilla glazed to me. The owner was wearing a mask and gloves and there was hand sanitizer by the door. Napkins are kept behind the counter, so just have to ask for them (you'll definitely need them!). The owner is very friendly and said that she hopes to open a location in Seattle soon. The donuts at Milkvue are addictively good. I've tried mochi donuts at a few other places and nothing has been even close to the quality at Milkvue. I would come here multiple times/week if I could! We have always had friendly service when we've visited (be careful, they're awesome at promoting their different discounts and will upsell you lol I've never regretted it) If you're interested in grabbing donuts in the evening, they are 50% off after 5pm during their happy hour. They're not quite as fresh as they are first thing in the morning, but they're still incredible! I would love to see even more creative flavors for the mochi donuts, but I may just be going at the wrong times. With that said, we've loved everything that we've tried. We were running errands on places that I wanted to snack before I wasn't allowed to eat and I just had to stop here!! The atmosphere is very cool and trendy. If you want coffee they have that as well with lots of amazing flavors. Also they have amazing mochi donuts which literally reminded me of being back in Japan. They tasted amazing very soft and light! I'm pretty sure I ate three on the ride home ! They are very delicious and look amazing. When selecting the donuts they have their flavors in the front which makes it super easy to figure out what I am selecting. Really didnt enjoy our experience. For starters, our total was $35 for 5 doughnuts and 2 drinks. Which to me is crazy in comparison to literally anywhere else. Our cashier was on her phone for a minute while serving us, and our drinks were really not great. They looked nothing like what they were on the menu, and tasted like fizzy gatorade. The drinks we ordered were 2 "blue ocean"s. Which was $5.50 each for club soda and blue syrup. Which meant that 5 doughnuts were $25. The donuts were amazing! However, you have to consume it right away. otherwise, it will become rock hard and dry. I brought half a dozen for me and my husband in an afternoon but we weren't able to eat it all to we saved the rest and kept them in the box. The next morning, we found them very hard and dry! I think if you prefer the keep some for the next day, keep them in an airtight container. The box is not the best to keep them either since it has holes on the side which cause the donuts to dry up. read more

First off, the donuts were dry and pasty. That's about the only real good thing I can say about this place. They call themselves a bakery. I can call myself anything I want as well. I can call myself the President of the United States of America, but that doesn't make me the President. In the same manner, Milkvue can call themselves a bakery, but they are far from it. First and foremost, the place is sterile! There is zero ambiance to the place. It might as well be an oversized vending machine. All they have are donuts. No cookies, no fancy breads, cakes or special candies one would expect to see in any classic bakery! Secondly, the area where the patrons stand to buy their products is very small. It reminds me of riding a train in Tokyo, Japan where the person directly in front of you and directly behind you are pressed against you. It would be claustrophobic if it weren't for the large window in front of the building. The third and perhaps most important thing is they are limited on the types of coffee one can purchase. All they have are lattte and Americano. Nothing else! No Mocha, no Chai Latte, no Cappuccino, no expresso! That to me spells FAILURE! Finally, the place is built into a large shopping center instead of its own spot. The place is very small and has zero charm! read more

Milkvue is more of the exotic flavors you'd even find in a donut. Their ingredients seem legit and of high quality. I can't say that I noticed anything that didn't remind me of a Blue Star type donut but the options are intersting. The vanilla bean looked like there were actual flecks of bean in the icing which is always promising. I didn't quite pull the trigger on the mochi donut but I think I'll have to go there next time and maybe bump up a star depending on this outcome. In summary, if you're craving a specialty donut and have to have it then this is your place to get something otside the box of a traditional donut. read more
