I would not recommend this place. Service is zero we have ordered twice from here and both times we have had issues. This last time was not tolerable. We ordered food to go and the waitress made a mistake and charged my friend a Tostada de ceviche instead of a Cocktail but apparently she didn't realize until later so she calls me to my cell phone and tells me she was short 3 or 4 dollars which i would have paid if she had a better attitude and service. Good place to come if you're in the mood for seafood. For food: I suggest the camarones a la ranchera, which is similar to camarones a la diabla (Incase you are more familiar with that dish). The fried rice is amazing, and compliments the food so well. They have a large variety of beers, and some of the best micheladas in town. Definitely suggest ordering one if you have the chance!The portions are filling, and the dishes are priced pretty low. We arrived the place was busy. There was little to no parking, but the good thing was that we caught someone while they were leaving and we got a spot! WOOHOOO! We go in and the music was SUPER LOUD that I couldn't even hear my friends. I informed the waitress and she was pleasant enough to lower the music. I love the grilled fish with the fried rice and salad. The seafood here is amazing. Better yet, the Micheladas are a MUST! They make the best sauce and they are made exquisitely (would it be frowned upon if I get one right now at 10 am? ha!). Unfortunately, the service is mediocre. Most of the time, they are incredibly slow and very inattentive. They wont come around to take your drink order until like 10-15 minutes after you arrive. There was no ventilation holes in the styrofoam. So out Ordered sea food platters take all the super hot foods and put the in the container with the nice cold salad. I was truly disappointed. They did little to make you feel welcome if you did not speak Spanish. The bartender did not speak English which is fine; so waitress he got to help take my order took her time coming over but she was very patient with me and the menu. The waitress who will rung up my check handed me my credit slip from three seats over, and then walked off. She didn't even notice that I didn't have a pen to sign the ticket. I had the pan grilled shrimp. (It came with fries and fried rice). The shrimp were good, the fries cold, the rice ok. I will never return. And they probably would be ok with that. Never had one of these till I came here. Im not a big fan of hot sauce or chili but this drink puts the spicy in my mexican self. Add your favorite Imported beer to their michelada mix. The mix is so good I have to buy some for back home. Everything is just delicious! To begin i love connies, I always get the shrimp w rice but I tried to taste something different and I got, the small shrimp cocktail for $7.00 and the small caldo de pescado. Having said that, Connies is one of my favorite places to eat. The shrimp fried rice is ...oh my, so damn good, its makin me hungry right now! Man, its fresh, not too spicy, just the right amount of shrimp, cocktail sauce, avocado, pearl onions, ect.. simply delicious. Connies also has THE best michelada in Houston, no lie! Its in aquired taste, so drink at your own risk, it can be kinda spicy,, clears the sinuses pretty good, but Oh so tasty on a hot ass Houston day, a Tecate or Corona michelada hits the spot! I was looking for a good local Mexican style seafood dive, and I found it. I ordered a half-dozen oysters on the half shell. They were big and fresh for only about $7.50 That was followed by the large Fish Ceviche cocktail, which was fresh and done just right. Great meal with cold beer! I enjoyed the live Mexican music, which reminded me of being across the border. I would do 5 stars, but the service is a little off. They don't generally check on you unless you make eye contact. Service is a 0! It's like the staff don't know where they're working at. Brianna , the manager lady in the glasses and all staff working at the time were unprofessional! When a situation happens they're the chismosas of the night spreading it like drama. NEXT TIME wait till the customer leaves. Connie's used to be way better 5+ years ago before they started losing OG servers. All for requesting your tab to be split and failure for the waitress to not report a returned entree to the manager. Instead , the manager stated we should have requested her first and still try to charge. Our server was well aware the tab would be split. Across , you then notice the whole Night Shift staff bundle up in the corner. Even the food runner was trying to get the scoop.Took longer to pay then to than to eat. This is one of my favorite restaurants and I have been coming here for years. I call this their cuisine Mexican Seafood. Their tartar sauce is the best. Whenever my dad is in from out of town he wants to go to Connies. Where the beer is cold and I suspect he also enjoys the scenery of pretty Hispanic waitresses. I usually get the 2pc fried fish meal with fried shrimps and it comes with fried rice and a roll. I would also recommend the michelada with Modelo. My daughter gets the small shrimp fried rice. Idk why they call it small. It's enough to feed two people, but we just take that for leftovers. This is not a fancy place and it's usually crowded because the food is good. I have some more bougie family that won't eat here for whatever reason but that's their loss in my opinion. I have never left here disappointed. I also have gotten the raw oysters on the half shell on occasion and they are fresh. Try it, you might find a new favorite place. read more

Called in a to go order this evening. Got halfway home and thought I'd open one of the 2 plates I had ordered. Having eaten at this establishment on a regular basis as a dine-in patron. I am quite familiar with their order portions served. Upon opening the box I was thoroughly disappointed in the amount of fried rice. I called back the restaurant saying I would be returning for more rice. When I arrived I was told I was being charged for "extra rice." I asked to speak with a manager and was told that it was just an optical illusion that there was less rice Since it was not on a plate. I explained that I have dined there several times before and that she was definitely not right. I have sometimes not been able to finish my meal there due to the enormous portion of fried rice. There was only about 4 Tablespoons of rice in each of the to go orders. Instead of upsetting a customer over a 2.1 cent cost per serving of rice the manager should have been proactive in resolving the issue. Obviously customer satisfaction is not a priority at this location. Upon telling the manager that in the future I would no longer dine there and would not recommend this establishment to friends, coworkers and Family, She chose to remain smug and unaffected by losing a long time customer. For the price I paid for this to go order I could go down the street to Magic Burger for the same plate for cheaper, plus you get a drink included. read more
