Man, I love this practice. They have been helpful and kind for the decade I've been using them. They don't push expensive procedures that my pets don't need, and they provide compassionate care at every visit. I've put them through their paces with a dog with an intestinal issue, a dog with a rare autoimmune disorder, another with a broken shoulder, and another who tends to get beat up regularly. Scheduled a wellness check visit for my 7 year old beagle. Their website had a special for Tuesdays that offered a free wellness visit with the purchase of 6 months of parasite control. This was the whole reason I scheduled this appointment on a Tuesday. My dog had a hot spot on his paw. Literally about a half inch in diameter. I asked them about the hot spot while I was there. They literally spread his toes, looked, and said it's a skin infection. No other care was performed. Spread two toes and a quick peek. Nothing was said about it changing the type of appointment. Not a word about a change in cost. That quick peek changed the appointment from a wellness check to a "comprehensive medical exam." The cost of the visit immediately went from roughly $100 (for other services) to $260 because they spread his toes!!! Then, they had the audacity to keep trying to upsell me on everything they could. I told them to let me pay for what had been done and give me my dog's records because we will find veterinary care somewhere else. I highly recommend everyone else do the same. $260 for anal glands, nail trim, heartworm check, and a 5 second toe evaluation....then wanted me to pay $415 for flea, tick, & heart worm prevention. $675 when my dog wasn't even sick or actually injured is asinine. read more

Proceed with caution! Dangerous, Unprofessional conduct. A newly Hired vet. came in, he was disrespectful to us at our scheduled appointment the least. He didn't listen to my pets history, gave a shot that we did NOT consent to, as it was not discussed with us prior to him giving it. We later had to contact the emergency vet due to her having a mild reaction to the shot. Conover Veterinary Hospital, made another unprofessional decision; Instead of holding themselves accountable, reviewing his actions, and having appropriate discussions with us regarding the incident, and proceeding with proper follow-up care for our animal, we received a discharge letter instead. read more

Today was received the most unprofessional encounter with an employee by the name of Chelsey. I've been utilizing this vet for MANY years and has been the best when it comes to servicing my pets up until today. When I'm voicing my concerns and receive in return dismissive and patronizing response is when I have a problem. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE & I NEVER STEPPED FOOT IN THE DOOR!!! NEVER been to this location! Simply used GPS to locate a veterinarian office closest to my NEW home. I called Friday, March 29 around 4:30pm to schedule my brand new kitten an appointment to establish her as a patient. The women from conover veterinary hospital asked if I have ever been there before. I answered no. I began giving my information to the woman on the phone where she placed me on hold...she came back on the phone and proceeded to ask if I have ever been there before? I answer no. The woman asked me have I ever had a cat? Yes, I have had a cat before however I have never been to this location with my animal. The woman on the phone informs me that there is another person showing up in their computer system with the same exact name as mine. That the person with the same name has been referred to their collections department. Because of this incident there is nothing conover veterinary hospital is able to do for me. Which is crap. The thing I have to say is they could of had a valuable customer in me. Their loss! read more

I had contact with this vet office through fostering my little girl dog from Catawba Animal Shelter. The vet, Dr. Talley was amazing. It was during the covid so I couldn't go in at the time. They asked questions what were my concerns, issues and more. A bit later I got a call from Dr. Talley who showed so much care, concern and compassion regarding my foster girl. She addressed every concern, provided medications for infection and pain. I later took my Kali back after adopting her because I was so impressed with Dr. Talley who spent so much time on the phone with me regarding my girls issues. At the most recent visit for the same issue. Dr. Talley didn't push any unneccessary tests, tried to find ways to address the problems my girl was having while trying to stay within the amount I had to spend at this visit. She was helpful in finding ways to save me some money as well by suggesting if I find what I needed cheaper at amazon or chewy to let her know. My little girl needs surgery and I would not hesitate to take her back knowing the care they showed her, the helpful way they tried to stay within my budget and the-at I truly felt Dr. Talley cares about her patients and their families. Pet Died! I have had a Fancy Rat for 2 years. She was in very good health. When we changed her bedding (wood mulch) she contracted some (rat lice or rat mites). Called local Vet who said take her to Conover Vet/Animal Hospital so we did. Took the Rat in on Thursday night & they tested the lice/mites and the applied a medicine to my wonderful Rat. Less then 2 days later my Rat was dead by early Saturday morning! I would avoid this Vets office. I called and left a message for the Vet but she didn't even have the decency to call me back after a week! read more

Button had his middle toe amputated on his left back foot. He had a large tumor. He is completely healed and all the fur is grown back. He never licks the fur off any more. The foot looks normal. I will never go back here. I brought my bird in for an emergency. The circulation was cut off on his leg. The vet was there but wouldn't see him because she was about to go off on an hour and a half lunch. They told me he would have to be sedated before they even looked at him or tried to handle him. I took him elsewhere, and they removed the band in a matter of minutes without sedation. We are still hoping he won't lose his leg over this because we lost precious time while I had to call and then drive elsewhere to get him help. There are very few vets who are willing to treat birds in this area. You would have thought that she could have taken this into consideration. read more

I took my cat in without an appointment they said they would work me in. Well I waiting for about one hour and a man with a dog came in and he did not have an appointment. They took his dog back after he had been waiting only about an half an hour while I had been waiting for one hour or more. I gave the receptionist a mean look and she said I guess I better get you back there too because you are going to say something to me. Well I waited in the exam room for about one hour, no vet. Only an intern came in and ask what was wrong with my cat, I told her, waited another 30 minutes or more , still no vet. I am sure the man with the dog got waited on in the matter of minutes was gone. I finally got mad and walked out without seeing a vet. I have to take my cat else where. I was at the vets office waiting to be work in from 9:00 AM to 11:30 Am. NO VET. The receptionist should have had the respect to take us on a first come first serve bases, but she was not going to until I gave her a mean look. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS VETERINARY HOSPITAL. read more
