A hidden gem! Well worth the drive doubly so with free entry. The idea behind the garden is to inspire residents to landscape beyond water-thirsty grass however it's far from a bunch of spikey cactus with numerous flowers that even our out of town visitors loved. Register in advance if you'd like to take free community classes to learn about water wise landscaping.

Awesome conservation garden!!!! You can easily spend one to two hours here. If you go In middle of the day during the summer, be sure to bring a hat and water since it can get hot. There are so many neat and beautiful plants that use little water to grow. This place can give you some great garden ideas for Utah. There's also learning stations such as building a drip line or a giant chess set for kids to play with. My little boy loves to come here because he can run around and see all the beautiful plants and flowers. The employees are friendly here. When you arrive, you walk in thought the visitor center so they can count how many people are in your party. The center is free but they do appreciate donations.

Beautiful gardens... a West Jordan gem! We spent some time here early Memorial Day. Upon our arrival we found very little cars parked but found out later that there are other parking areas to park inside the garden. I was looking for an office where I could pay for admission to get in the gardens but all the buildings were closed. Found an employee and told me that the gardens was FREE admission. The Education Center was closed due to COVID-19. Wish it was open because they offered landscaping help which I could use some advice like foliage accent plants or learning of various plants that do well with less water. This six-acre botanical garden is beautiful and it's open to the public! There are plenty of benches and areas to stop and view. It is located on the grounds of Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District in West Jordan and is also funded by them. Lovely botanical garden if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful place away from the crowds. We stopped in and enjoyed gorgeous spring blooms! The park is free but there is a photography admission ($10 daily) if using the garden for a photo shoot by a professional photographer (wedding, engagement, family portraits, etc). We did see families stop by with their 2020 graduates to take some photos here. Review #1786

LOVED this place! I came here on my first day in Utah to kind of kill some time and see something pretty. The parking was a little confusing at first, but you can park anywhere in the back area of the park. The garden was well maintained and very educational! Most of the plants and trees had tags so you can see what is what. This was very unique for me as it was my first time anywhere in the west. I absolutely loved the little area about water conservation and drinking water treatment. I work in drinking water regulation so everything was great.

If you haven't visited the Conservation Garden Park in West Jordan it may surprise you. Located next to water treatment plant, this beautiful garden is maintained by the city of West Jordan. The garden is especially beautiful in spring when the tulips, daffodils and other spring flowers are in bloom. The garden is always lovely during the summer and early autumn. Besides being home to many wonderful plants the garden also features many educational exhibits to help teach locals how to use water efficiently and make their gardens beautiful with water-wise plants that are suitable for our local climate. Free and open to the public year-round the Conservation Garden Park is well worth visiting.

Lovely garden. It's a beautiful place to walk and very dog friendly. It only gets busy around the holidays, especially Halloween.

The garden was the passion project of Thomas Child, an LDS bishop and Salt Lake City businessman. Located in what used to be his backyard, he started the garden when he was 57 years old and worked on it until his death nearly 20 years later! A neighbor then bought the property and made it available for public visitation, and it was ultimately handed over to the city for longterm maintenance and preservation. I don't mean to be insensitive at all, but the garden is one of the most fabulously weird places I've ever visited. The park contains 12 original sculptures that depict various scenes from the Book or Mormon. My favorites include a sphinx with the face of Joseph Smith, and the sacrificial altar dedicated to Childs' wife. "Gilgal" refers a city and valley in LDS literature, and the name means circle of standing stones. If you're in Salt Lake City, this garden is definitely worth a visit. Admission is free, and the park is open from 8AM to 8PM. It's located in a residential neighborhood, so please be respectful of the neighbors. Add this to your list of favorite roadside bits of unique Americana.

It is also incredibly religious in nature, with many biblical quotes carved into stones and art that reflects or is inspired by scripture. It's a little bizarre to be honest and has a creepy, cultish feel. SLC has lots of other great art and gardens where your time could be spent.

It looks like such a beautiful place to walk around and it's free! From tree carvings, wildflowers and historic tours. We came for the wonderful Sunday Farmer's Market and there were so many amazing vendors with so many yummy samples! My favorite was the Mediterranean Hummus vendor. So many selections to choose from! Because of the hummus purchase we had to book it out and get it home and chilled! They had fresh meat, eggs, breads, jellies, salsas, and of course tons of produce from different Utah produce farms. It's very busy and you may have to park in the neighborhood surrounding the farm on Sundays. It's quite popular!!!! I loved the old historic buildings some dating back to the early 1900's. There's plenty of animals to check out from horses, to cows, pigs, sheep, goats, roosters, peacocks and a sheep. There's a small country store onsite as well. They have tractor and wagon rides. Some of the most beautiful wood flowers growing, a small creek runs through the property and there are several trails which I look forward to exploring on our next trip. I'm also excited to watch a lesson on cow milking! It's truly a beautiful spot to visit, and if you are interested I'd suggest bringing a blanket and some lunch and sitting under the shady trees and enjoying the magnificent things this working farm has to offer.

I love taking our dogs to see the "exotic" animals. Behind the activity barn is garden entirely worked on by volunteers in the Master Gardener program. If you ever see them working be sure to share your thanks! There's also a long path that loops the property once you cross the bridge, it follows the stream and then hangs left.

Winchester is smack in the middle of two spaces for Westside, and even though there are signs everywhere, they only serve to confuse matters more. But never fear, I'm here to provide some much needed clarity! On the East corner is Westside's main nursery space, filled with all the perennials, annuals, a few vegetables and herbs, groundcover, succulents, roses, and most of the smaller plants, though there are some trees and bushes here too (through which a charming stone walkway meanders). A register is located in a small shed-like building, along with garden accessories and fertilizers. Now, if you're seeking a larger variety of bushes and trees, you'll have to exit the nursery, walk past Winchester's chain-link fence and entrance, and then go into the OTHER section for Westside on the West side (hahaha) of this whole strip, where the bulk of these plants are housed. Despite the frustration accorded by their wonky set up, Westside was a really nice lil' nursery! The employees were really great. Every single one I interacted with was just cheery as can be, so helpful, and truly and honestly passionate about gardening. There was one gentleman that was just running around, lugging customer's purchases to their vehicles, and all the while so smiley and kind to everyone. The prices were in line with comparable businesses. Parking is iffy - you pretty much have to grab a spot along the street, and it's dang busy! Just be careful and stay safe. It's worth doing at least once to check out Westside.
