So I spent some time here last weekend. But even moreso, I have spent far far far more time in the park over the last 4 months than I ever did before, due to the addition of a disc golf course. Now, back in the day (waaaaay back) I was pretty into the sport and have played on about 100 courses all over this fine country. But the sport blew up and is having a moment right now, so much so that courses are popping up all over the place and this fun little pitch-n-putt par 3 seemed to show up out of nowhere. It's great--everything is under 400 feet, and it's brought a lot of people out to the park that might not ever have made it over--truly making this a park for the people. Besides that, they've made some big improvements. There's now a massive pavilion over by the senior center, which is no longer the senior center, but rather a lovely little museum. It's a drought year so I take it easy on them for the condition of the grass which is, you know, not precisely lush right now. But it's beautiful to see them taking water conservation seriously. I'll be over there plenty often now, getting in a quick 9 holes in under an hour, but I'll also be back for Harvest Days next year. Until then!

There is a large area of grass that you could play soccer, flag football or even fly kites. I've seen people flying their drones, and racing their battery operated remote control cars here. The older section has a pavilion, bathrooms, and a small slash pad for the kids with another swing set close by. On Friday nights during the summer they have free concerts. Something for the whole family. Parking lot is on the small size for a park, and the Boys and Girls Club is near by, I believe they share the parking space. The adjacent nature preserve next to the creek is interesting to explore. The paths are well-worn and show the wear of a well-explored city park. Unfortunately, for all its promise, Wasatch Hollow Park is rundown. It has older playground equipment, dead and patchy grass, and poorly maintained grounds. It would be great to see the city invest in and improve this park.

I am either extremely happy about places, or I like to constructively tell them how they can be better. Given, I won't be giving them five stars if they gave some area for improvement, just some real talk so ya'll don't think I am just yanking your chain around telling you everywhere is oh so cool, when it most oh so certainly is not. This particular park is super close to my house. So close I can walk there if my dogs and I are feeling adventerous and like we ate our wheaties that day. Only a joke because I am gluten free! Anyways, this park is pretty cool. In summer they actually do free movies in the park and that was the first time we stumbled across this great place. It is huge, they have a playground and jungle gym. So whether you have an animal, or little ones, meaning kids, or anything I guess? You should come here. The kids love it as well as the animals. I don't ever let mine off the leash, even though they are small I never know how close they will stay towards home. Home being me, myself, and I. Also point being, because they are small, they tend to have what some may call the, "little man syndrome" they like to prove their tough even though they are small, so they do the whole big bark, small interior. They are harmless and each on their own weight below ten pounds, definitely, most definitely, not frightening.

Legend has it (and I confirmed when my friend arrived) that you can stand on opposite ends of the gazebo and whisper to each other and be heard. Fo' sho' it works! Not only does the park have that neat little attraction, but there are big, beautiful trees all around. I came during Christmas season and got to see them all dressed up in colorful lights. Hint, the lights stay on all night, so go in the early morning to avoid the crowds. Light peeping at 6am just hits differently than at 8pm. I also saw lots of dogs walking their owners-which is a big draw for me. Give me pretty trees, a nice bench, and a parade of pups and I'm set! Oh, and a coffee from Bubble N Bean. Yes, please!

You can spend as much or as little time here as you…read morewant, walking leisurely laps around and taking just slightly different paths each time, or just sitting and listening to all the birds that love to frequent and to the waterfall installment by the wisteria covered benches. The breeze through the evergreen trees and the pampas grass in late summer/autumn is just lovely to listen to and the pines smell wonderful. There's almost no one that ever visits simultaneously so you're almost guaranteed a serene place to yourself. Come a few times a year to experience the garden a little differently every time and enjoy the various fragrant flowers throughout the season, learn a bit more about water conservation and Utah native gardening, and enjoy the wildlife from quail to squirrels to butterflies and bees -- I flinched most around the bees the first couple times visiting but I've stopped completely as they are very honed in on the task at hand . It's always such a peaceful visit. The only thing that would make it better would be if the road noise could completely disappear but that's the trade off for getting something so wonderful, completely for free, without having to drive far.

The disc golf course isn't anything super special, but it's a good course to get some throws in. There is a walking path throughout the disc golf course, and the park was busy the night we were there. Be prepared to wait a little bit. We didn't mind cause we were catching up with a friend anyway. This park is also directly under the flight path, so you get to see a bunch of airplanes flying overhead which I loved! The trees also smelled amazing. There were a few big softball fields that looked awesome and also the rec center is in the same space. I would highly recommend checking out this park and playing the disc golf course.

And looking at the other reviews, it seems that there is far more to this park than just what I saw. I need to come back and continue to explore. The softball complex has great seating, large bathrooms and is well maintained. There's good lighting for night games and good visibility from any seat in the bleachers (I know, I moved around a lot-I get restless.) There's also ample parking nearby. I did opt to park a little further away from the field, knowing that some of the folks on the team I was watching can hit a ball pretty far and I didn't want to fix a broken windshield.
