HATE giving this company 1 star there should be a NO STAR option. Read ALL the comments and 99% give only 1 STAR and call the company a con, scam etc. Grandkids moved into a 2 bdrm apartment, rent fair enough but then they sold the complex and some new owners not only raised the rent, shortened the lease but hired CON-service to bill the kids utilities. The grandkids work 2 jobs each, hardly ever home whereas a husband, wife & 2-3-4 kids living in same size apartment pay same for utilities ..... NOT FAIR. Conservice says they go by occupants, and square footage ..... B.S.We have owned a home in NW Reno since 1992 and the grandkids get billed MORE for garbage in 1 month than we pay for 3 months of trash pick up. CON-service charges fees, upon fees. Complex doesn't tell you if you are paying for THEIR usage. THEN the complex started charging a "valet garbage collection fee of $25.00" that is so someone will pick up your trash can and dump it per the scheduled pick up time/date - I sat with them at office where they told them they do NOT want that service, the dumpster is literally down the stairs and around the building. Manager said TOO BAD you HAVE to use it or don't use it but you WILL pay for it. Cost to rent went from $900 a month to over $1,200 a month within year and a half. Now they want to go up even more. I am waiting to see if the complex tries to bill the kids for lots of move out fees, if so, the court battle's are ON. I will put fliers in every mailbox and advertise to all those who moved out to get people to sign on or testify at court. I know landlords sometimes have it tough but there needs to be MORE tenant regulations to help tenants from landlords who purposely screw them. In this complex I believe the owners are taking advantage of non-english speaking or understanding individuals and you know many do NOT want to speak up so that too is NOT RIGHT. People need to get with a legislative person, help write, change or adopt NEW tenant regulations to help tenants from greedy landlords or corporations. read more

"The Utility Experts" is a farce. When I received my most recent bill, there was a jump of $125 for WATER! My heating bill only went up $50 for the same time period (January). It was explained to me that they had been estimating the prior 4 months and now I had to make up the difference. This is an unbelievable and borderline unethical practice. They have an obligation as a public company to disclose and be transparent with how they conduct their affairs. They have completely failed in that regard. Shame on them for their lack of transparency. People have a right to know their bill is going to double in a one-month period well before it happens. read more

I wonder if Pathlight Property Mgmt have some of the same principal owners as CONservice with heavy emphasis on "CON". My lease started on a Friday afternoon, which was a holiday so I wouldn't have been able to sign up for service for 3 days. No one from Pathlight did a walk thru nor supplied any info such as who was the electric provider. So it took me a few days to set it up (try moving during a Pandemic). After many attempts to get someone from Pathlight to call me back, I was told not to worry about the Electric. I did not actually stay at the new rental for 7 days, but ended up being billed $50. Yes it's included in the convoluted fine print of the lease as I was told later. I have been leasing properties for years & to be forced to deal with a Monkey in the Middle (CONservice) is such a scam. They are only billing water & trash but they managed to get in on billing for "Vacant House Fee". I've no alternative but to pay an extra $10/mth by CONservice for no benefit to me. I had seen all the bad reviews for CONservice and knew in advance I'd be forced to use them but I needed to get out of my old place. Sadly I had hoped to stay in this rental for a few years, but I will be leaving as soon as my lease is up. This is the first time that I have been a patron of Conservice and when my lease is up, I will make sure wherever I live next, will not have Conservice as their water utility supplier! I have NEVER been charged so many fees. EVER! Being charged a flat rate per unit is ridiculous. Being charged a convenience fee is ridiculous. My water and sewage consumption is usually around $8-10 a month BUT I end up paying around $30-$40 just in fees and other charges that do not relate to MY actual consumption!!! Never again. One of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. If I could give them 0 stars I would. I was charged a vacancy electric fee for my first two months of my lease which was due to an error with National Grid not transferring the utilities to my name. First, you'd think I'd be notified that by Conservice that my name was on the lease and all the other utilities and not electricity but no notice, just a $50 fee. I've been trying for 4 days to get in touch with Conserve with no luck. Called customer service Monday and Tuesday multiple times to be put on hold and for up to 2 hours. Sent emails Monday and Tuesday with no response. Tried calling again MULTIPLE times yesterday and today and now receive an automated message that the "caller is not accepting voice mails at this time." How am I supposed to resolve an issue if I can't even get in touch with the company? Useless and a scam. Informed my leasing office of my extreme displeasure. read more

Yes my review is a ZERO stars but one is required. We went two entire months during October and November without using any part of our HVAC system in IN and the utilities still drastically increased. I will never ever rent again where Conservice is involved. DO NOT ever live in a property where the utilities are managed by Conservice. There are 2 of us who use mainly 3 rooms of the house and only 2 months out of 24 have the utilities been slightly under 200.00. This month jumped 100.00 and our heat is set at 64 degrees. We freeze living here and can't wait to move early spring. I have finally had enough and requested Conservice provide proof of the utility charges from the service provider. My next step is the Indiana Attorney General's office, and maybe local news stations. They might be pleasant over the phone but that doesn't deserve any rating stars. read more

Dealing with this company is worse then getting healthcare from the Veterans Administration. Your on the phone for hours on hold trying to get accounts unlocked. Frequently they fail to send out statements for the month and when they do finally put your balance on your account you better be ready to pay within the next few days as they frequently set the pay by date less then a week out from bill posting. Not only is there no choice about who to receive utilities from but they know they are holding you hostage and just don't seem to care when you call to get things fixed or straightened out. read more

This Conservice is really a scam service; somehow my water bill is higher in the winter than during the summer which doesn't make sense. Per my lease I am to be charged a certain amount of sewer fees per month but this was increased more than $5 per month since March 2019. When talking to Scam service I get the run around they supposedly say this is the information that they receive from the city water dept which is total BS. I contacted the leasing office and was told to only pay the amount on my lease. This company is nothing but a fraud and just makes money off of renters. The good thing is my lease will be over in less than 6 months and I will start to pay my own bills when I move out of the complex that uses this shady company. Very shady business practices. Customer service are nice but like others have said they can do almost nothing in terms of sorting things out. My utilities have been 25-40 for almost 6 months, all of a sudden I'm getting charged 65-70 a month for JUST electricity with no changes. I would literally have to leave my lights on near 24/7 to wrack that kind of bill up in my small 1 person apartment. Avoid any place that uses this company. read more

This service was mandatory from my landlord, Invitation Homes, which is just another outrages fee they impose to get more money from tenants. Anyway, my complain it twofold. First, when I called to make a complaint regarding my trash service I was on hold for over 50 minutes. In the past when I had utility service directly with the city I was never on hold that long, they would always answer within 5 minutes. I'm paying an extra service fee of $10 for no reason than to make it convenient for the landlord to have service in their name! All the service Conservice provides is to notify the city when the new tenant moves in and when they move out and to send me a monthly bill which they get from the city. Previously the city would send that directly to me. So if I live in this house for at least a year Conservice is collecting $120 from me for a better service I was getting from the city for FREE! read more

We have been noticing a sharp increase in our bill at Oak lake apartments I have lived all over the United States as a Military brat and never never been charged over 700 dollars for water and sewage ! There is something wrong here and unfortunately I may have to get a lawyer this has happened after we have been here close to 10 years!!! In this apartment complex!!! This company.. smh. I've always been a stellar tenant and paid my rent and utility bills in advance and at the very least on time. I'm renting with a company that chooses to use CONservice to manage their utility bill and it has been horrible. They charge $9.99/mo just to send you the bill. That fee has nothing to do with my utility usage. They are making a killing. Then I get charged trash fees for months that have already passed. Just random ones that pop up whenever they feel like it. I called for an explanation and told him I felt like I was being ripped off and the CS rep said, "that's just how we do things here." Our property management company has recently switched over to Conservice (from PayLease) about 2 months ago. The bills offer ZERO TRANSPARENCY other than 2 lines "water $xx.xx" and "sewer $xx.xx". They REFUSE to divulge the methodology used to calculate the bill other than a blanket bootleg statement "we calculate the bill based on total consumption minus an unknown percentage the property managers determine for common areas, and some other funky formula, then they use the number of occupants and the square footage without any formal process outlined on the bill to dispute any charges. I have already began the steps to file complaints with governmental authorities and have potentially found an attorney to represent me in a class action lawsuit. I have reached out a few times to the company and gotten nothing but hollow apologies that don't actually solve anything. We have a two bedroom apartment that we honestly only go to to sleep ( I don't even sleep at the apartment myself) and yet each month our bill goes up. This month we were charged $203 for utilities and that doesn't even include power. We are told that it is the average for a two bedroom at our complex, but $98 for just sewer?? This company is a scam and the entire reason we will be moving once our lease is up. I have never seen such high charges. We are paying up the butt for utilities that we don't use and that I'm sure our neighbors aren't actually using either. Completely over charging residents and then they DO NOT help when problems are brought to their attention! I don't want some bogus apology and helpline number, I want my bills fixed. If I could leave no stars I would. This is by far the most bull shit company I have EVER encountered. I have a "bill" with them for $64.00. This has been an ongoing bill for a few months not that was supposibly resolved 2 months ago. I just went to sign online last Friday and see that it was been tacked onto my rent. What had happened is we switched the electric company from my name to my boyfriends name for credit and buying a house purposes. They are charging me this charge from 7/10/17-7/10/17 yes $64 dollars for a vacant charge. It was never vacant. I have now done 2 confrence calls with eversource who also tell them this is a non charge and they don't even know why they are involved in my billing. I keep getting OK'd to death. I even called my apartment complex and they are like wtf is going on. They know I pay my rent on time and also know we have lived there since 2011. OH you can never get the same person either. I was already told Friday it was all set and now it's Monday and it's now not all set again. I asked to speak to a manager who never came to the phone. I am furious!! THIS BILL HAS BEEN PAID TO A REAL ELECTRIC COMPANY. NOT TO SOME HALF ASS DOUBLE DIPPING SCAM ARTIST FAKE COMPANY!!! Sent me my first bill with no login information. Had to call customer service and the representative couldn't find my account. I was on the phone for over an hour - I missed my first class - trying to figure it out. Once I got my account number to even just LOG IN, the temporary password I was given did not work. What an absolute scam this company is! How is this even legal? Nobody told me when I moved into my apartment that I would have to pay a $5 fee for the privilege of paying the rent. But it gets worse -- another $2 to pay by bankdraft and 3% - in my case $50 to pay the bill online. I could understand the fees somewhat if the company had to pay people to work out the actual utilities used by each apartment. But there is no water meter on my apartment, nothing measuring the sewer or the trash. All they do is take the total bill and divide by the total number of residents. First of all, look at all the horrible reviews. Even if they reply saying they are "sorry for the misunderstanding" that's just them covering themselves. They are a SCAM. I haven't been living there due to being forcibly evicted from the apartment and haven't been living there for 3+ months but they still refuse to cancel my contract and told me to "go to the apartment management to figure this out". We have no choice but to use this company because they have an arrangement with the leasing company we lease our home from. NO option to get out. I got TWO electric bills in one month, and given two different stories - most recent is that they "changed the way they bill" and this is a "catch up bill" - which is complete bull because the utility company doesn't send it that way. The other part is they have signed my home up for remote reading on my electric - my electric bill is $100-$150 higher than everyone else in my neighborhood because of this - and I have NO CHOICE but to pay it. My only other option is pack up and move - at my expense of course. My sewer bill has risen $15 a month in 2 years - and others in my neighborhood did not get the same increases. And I'm forced to pay $10 a month for this service I do not want! read more

They charge you a fee to pay your bill! The only way they let you set up an auto pay is with a checking or savings account. PLUS, in the terms and conditions, they make you responsible for penalties if you don't get your e-bill. This place is a piece of shit! read more

On 10/03/16 I received my billing statement from Conservice. As we all know the bill is due on the 1st of the month. I paid the bill online on 10/06/16 and included the $10.00 late fee + the $3.00 convenience fee for a total of $59.19. As I clicked on the submit button I recognized that a portion of the payment info was incorrect. I tried cancelling the payment but was unable to do so. I immediately re-submitted the payment with the correct payment information. I then placed a call to Conservice and since it was after hours left a voice message detailing the transaction and asking Conservice to void the incorrect payment. I included my account number in the message. I then called my bank and explained the problem. The bank agent explained that most companies will void one of the payments once a duplicate payment is received and that they will monitor the account and allow a few days for Conservice to void the payment. It was agreed that if Conservice should process both payments, the one with incorrect info would be returned and the payment with correct payment would be honored. I monitored my statement online and after several days of both payments remaining pending on the account I again called Conservice to request that the incorrect payment be voided. The agent advised me that it would be processed as a duplicate payment and applied to the next month's bill. I objected and explained again that the bank would not honor the payment because the credit card information was incorrect. The agent, Isaac then informed me that the payment had already been processed and that they could send me a refund. I again explained that the payment was not and would not be processed and again asked that it be voided and that furthermore I did not give permission for a duplicate payment to be made on my account. I also asked whether the next bill had been issued and was told it had not been. Please note that this was only my second bill from Conservice. Isaac refusing to understand that the payment needed to be voided insisted that I could have a refund sent to me and asked for my address. In frustration, I ended the call. On October 6, 2016 Chase paid the $59.19 to Conservice and returned the payment with the incorrect information. Conservice then billed me $25.00 for Insufficient fund payment and a $10 late charge + $3.00 convenient fee. I called Conservice and was told by a female agent that I should send my bank statement to prove that the funds were available in the account. Please note that at this point, there was no outstanding payment due because the $59.19 had been paid by the bank. After receiving a second notice of late payment from Conservice and a reminder that my apartment management had been advised that my account was delinquent, I again called Conservice and followed up with a letter and copy of my bank statement showing the transaction. In the meantime I received my next bill statement which I paid in the amount of $64.29 + convenience fee of $3.00 for a total of $67.29 which I paid on 10/31/16. This transaction was processed by Agent Timor and paid by Chase on 11/02/16.Confirmation # 022413. My next payment which was due on 12/01/16 with a statement date of 11/09/16 did not show the 10/31/16 payment and I was assessed a late fee. After calling Conservice several times, I was told that my letter with bank information was never received and I asked for a fax or email address to resend the documents. I faxed them to a Megan R per her instructions on 11/19/16. I received no response but when I followed up after again several phone calls. I was told by Megan that their records show that I called after the payment had been processed and returned for a refund. That there is no other record of my having called. That call did not end well and I asked Megan to send me the results of Conservice investigation into my complaint in writing since I had filed a written response. She stated she is telling me the results but after I insisted she said I would get an email. To wrap up, I have yet to receive the email but I have received another late notice with another $10 late fee added,my account is paid current for all statements received for services rendered by Conservice. I have written to the BBB and I have been in touch with an attorney. If you have been a victim of Conservice's predatory practices, we can and should join to file a class action lawsuit against this company. Wow, I wish I would've researched this company before I signed our lease. We have lived in the area for over 3 years and have never incurred such high water, trash, and sewage fees until recently. We previously dealt with another utility company who was fantastic--and more importantly--FAIR. Our bill gets progressively higher each month with no explanation. Now we're looking at almost a $60 increase since moving in with absolute zero explanation and no change in our usage. My first bill for water and sewer was outrageous but after a few months it seemed to dwindle. Not quite sure how they were measuring water output and sewer usage, but it's not consistent. This month I received a bill and because the last payment was still processing but not late, the new bill stated that my previous bill was overdue. I called to make sure that it wasn't late. I was told because it hadn't been received yet I can disregard the "overdue". They have been charging us vacant service fees for months even after we had put in a request to transfer services. Something went wrong with the request, which the utilities companies acknowledged. Was that enough? No. Unless we did a full-on investigation on our own of WHY the requests didn't go through, Conservice didn't care whatsoever about being fair and issuing a refund of hundreds of dollars. I've looked at hundreds of negative reviews on this company and would like to consider class action law suit options. Worst company ever. First with my gas they were charging me a $25 service fee on top of my gas bill. This happened bc the gas company made a mistake. I didn't catch it for 4 months. When I noticed it and called the gas company they fixed their end, conservice didn't for another 2 months. They claimed to have talked to the gas company who had sent me paper documents to conform it was not my fault and that I shouldn't be liable for the charges but conservice will still not reimburse me. Then I recently overpaid them, but I didn't get a credit to my next bill. Really conservice? Like you didn't realize my check was over the amount due? Every month I and my suite mates use less and less electricity. The AC/Heat is off, lights off, minimal washer/dryer/dishwasher use. And each subsequent month at least $10-15 dollars is added. I currently rent a home through AH4R and they signed up with this company I would say around November 2016 to take care of our gas bill. We hadn't received any correspondence about the change from the rental company until I received my deposit back from my gas company and logged into my account to find that it was longer active. Fast forward, I received my first bill from Conservice and it is DOUBLE the amount I was paying a month before the rental company decided to sign up for this service. Aside from that, when you log into your account with Conservice, it does not provide you a itemized bill on how it was calculated, your usage etc. I am sure this practice is not legal and will be looking more into this. read more
