Plumber came out during the holidays. Traveled 40 miles. He replaced my water heater but it set off my CO detectors. He came out with a different new one. A name brand...except he didn't use a direct vent heater...probably on the first one too. The unit went through a burner, which he replaced. It lasted about a year. The problem is he used a regular water heater, instead of a direct vent that he replaced my original water heater with. This is hazardous because direct vent takes air from outside. I reckon, I'm lucky I'm alive. For water heaters, not recommended. On the other hand, I've learned a valuable lesson! read more
