I would put zero stars but this app won't let me. Let me start off by saying I've lived In multiple states and different apartment complexes. NEVER have I had any issues like I do with conservice. I get an $5 charge for them to just put my utility bill together and then an additional $3 fee when I pay my bill. Any other place ive used for utility purposes if I have my routing number when I pay I am not charged the "one time payment" fee. EXCET NOT WITH THESE ASSHATS. I called- and I was placed on hold for over an hour and half. I was caller 47 and it took 1 hour 45 minutes and 33 seconds before I was directed to an associate. Who when I asked why is this fee continuously charging me when I put my bank routing number in. Responded with "uh yeah sorry. If you can't afford the fee you can just send a check in the mail or sign up for autopay" 1- who tf mails checks I'm not mailing a check from VA to Colorado for my utility bill. 2- why should it matter if I have my routing number there is no issue you have access to my bank account. But autopay makes it not happen 3- it's 2019 and I'm up to my eye balls in debt. Having money just come out of my account I can't budget for due to fluctuation of usage in electric etc I CANNOT WAIT to leave this apartment. And live somewhere again that isn't so behind on the times and punishing people with service fees unless they mail money or auto draft it from their account. I live by myself and travel 50-75% out of the month. I shower at the gym most of the time and do not do laundry or use the dishwasher at my apartment. When I first moved in, my water usage was minimal at a brand new complex. As my building filled up with tenants over time, the utility has gone up ten-fold (no exaggeration)! I was out-of-town on Father's Day Weekend, and my daily usage went from 100 to 1800?! I was on-hold for customer service over an hour (not exaggerating, either) before I just hung up out of sheer frustration. Also, they claim if you choose AutoPay with your checking account, you would not be charged the $3 "convenience fee". This is an absolute farce! Our condo Association switched to this Conservice company in October 2019. Ironically this company lives up to its name- "CON". I have never come across a company and customer support that has been so difficult to deal with from the beginning. It asks you to enroll in Auto pay and when I did that it added a convenience fee of $4.64 cents. When questioned they said I chose "Pay Now" which adds the convenience fee!!! Really??!! I was in Auto pay updating my auto pay info and when a box pops up saying paynow- asking you to submit, what does one do to complete the transaction? You are forced into clicking that button. This company and their business and the way they talk to you is very shady and con like! If you have a choice please go with a different utilities billing company. My daughter lives in an apartment with one other person and their utility bill this month was $160 plus the $66 dollar yearly fee. When she lived in a 4 person apartment in the same apartment complex her utility bill was also $160. How is it possible that 2 people are using the same amount of electricity as 4 people. We are being overcharged and I want to know why. Why are we being charged another yearly fee when we already paid the same fee in the 4-bedroom apartment they just moved from. They now live in a 3-bedroom apartment that only 2 people occupy. This is ridiculous, they are college kids and rarely home so how is their bill this high. If I could give this company a zero I would. They don't even deserve 1 star. I moved into my house 3 weeks ago and called to set up service. And I requested garbage bins. Well three weeks later I still don't have garbage bins. I called and asked them what was the hold up and I was told they have a high volume of bin requests. Ok so how long will it take for me to get bins because I've been having to pay to take my trash to the local dump. The agent response was they don't know. I asked can I put two bags out on garbage day and they said they would not advise that and keep taking my trash to the dump until my bins come. That is totally unacceptable. But what can I do I don't have a choice. I can't keep piling up trash in my new house. I just went online to check the status of my bin request. And there are 4 levels. Request Submitted, Request in progress, trash hauler contacted, request resolved. Guess what my status is "Request Submitted" I would not recommend this company to anyone. Just moved into my apartment a month ago. Received a bill via email from conservice. I was told prior to renting that I am not responsible for anything but rent and electric. The utility company tried charging me $110 more than my usage for "deposits" already and I had to argue that with them. Now this bill shows my "rent" to be $110 more because of water, trash and sewage. I live alone and work 14 hours a day. I'm sick of landlords lying about costs. I spent 6 months researching where to rent and did my homework. And twice on a first bill people are trying to take advantage and overcharge. I can not make changes to my service, payment options nor can i apply for senior, disabled or low income programs because the bill is not in my name. i transferred units over the summer same property management company and both charged me account set up fees AGAIN, the fee to PM was said to cover conservice but the call to conservice denied the claim that my PM charged me their fee. Other issue is it has taken 5 months for the first bill to arrive and they have always been months behind causing the move out bill to be severely large. Their fee increased from $5.95 to $9.95 without notice. I did not willingly choose to work with this company. Conservice appears to act mainly as a third party billing service for utility companies. That's likely beneficial for apartment complexes that have an extensive tenant base, and don't want their tenants dealing with utility providers directly. After being on hold for an extended period of time, I finally got a customer service representative on the phone to clarify a duplicate billing statement issue. After reading many of the "1" star ratings, I can see that a majority of the complaints with this company are around billing discrepancies or errors. When I moved into my apartment, I was told that a third party manages the billing for all of the utilities. Even though I pay my monthly utilities directly to the company that owns the apartment complex, I get separate duplicate billing from Conservice. When I showed this billing to the management staff of the apartment complex, they were confused. The staff member had never seen a duplicate bill mailed directly to any other tenants. When I explained this to Conservice, they had no answer. After attempting to explain this to the first customer service representative, I got nowhere, and requested to speak to a manager. I could tell at the beginning of the conversation with the manager that I would likely reach a resolution! With that being said, we finally opted to revert to paperless statements which would at the very least limit my monthly junk mail load. I don't see third party billing services like this offering much value at all. If anything they just seem to over-complicate the process of working directly with a utility provider. When I eventually purchase a home, fortunately I will have the option of avoiding this company. read more

Well at least they are honest on the type of business they are providing, Con Service. For no apparent reason, they switched out my electric bill out of my name and put it under theirs. No notice, no call, no email. My bill was always paid in full every month and there was absolutely no reason to have done this. The electric company and Irvine company caught the mistake and did nothing about it for 15 months! Each month I was charged $25 extra for a vacancy fee for not having the electric bill under my name. That really adds up after nearly a year and a half. I'm still working on fixing this right now. Horrible to not have a choice in the provider here. Also the $3.70 service fee is a joke. read more

But the bill I received wasn't a charge for December what was for this last 2 months which gave me a total of $650 to pay. They also will not give me authorization to speak with SRP. It seems that I have been receiving bills from the wrong water meter (or perhaps a non-existent one). I was gone from my apartment for 22 days, we have individual meters (not submetered), no one had a key to my apartment and I would know if anyone entered! There were days when the meter read as many as 400 gallons! Seriously?????? Talking to anyone at CONservice is a big waste of time but fortunately our apartment management company is now involved because it seems that we are just 1 of many who are being billed for the wrong meters! **IF you are considering CONSERVICE, CHECK THEIR BBB RATING** My story is the same as everyone. I live in AVA Ballard in Seattle, WA, and my bill has been extremely high, despite my lower usage. I called Conservice, and they told me to check the leak. They also said that my actual usage has been higher, based on the numbers they saw on their side, which I cannot confirm on my end. For a while, I had a suspicion that they were gouging their price upward, but I could not prove it. (I still cannot prove it, because whatever number they see on their end, I cannot confirm on my end) I am a medical student who uses almost nothing in the kitchen/bathroom. I live alone, and not at home often. my bill should not be $200, with over $100 for a sewer bill. My apartment tried calling conservice bill unsuccessfully in which they denied in their wrongdoing. They asked the apartment to check the leak on their side. (also same script as everyone) I will be looking for a legal alternative to this nonsense. I am surprised this place is still in business after the same sort of overcharge problem on BBB. This should not be happening to people. Not only is it illegal to do this, but it is unfair. I do not recommend this service to anyone who is looking for an apartment to live in. I am a current Conservice customer because the apartment complex I have only utilized this company. Each unit has its own control of the Air / Heating unit, however, each building has a central control that determines when the air goes off and the heat goes on. This means the central device cannot have both going simultaneously. On Sept. 28th, the complex turned off the air and formally set the heat designation for the units, so I turned all of the units in my apartment off because my unit is very well insulated. Well, I received a bill on Nov 19th, charging me for usage for October, despite NOT having used it at all since Sept. When I called and spoke to two customer service reps, both of them confirmed that when a unit shows zero usage, it's Conservice's policy to "average the total amount of previous customer usage and formulate a bill". This means that in cases where apartments show zero usage, Conservice's policy is to assume there is something wrong with the unit and charge the customer based on an average from the previous month! When I asked them how they could charge someone based on an assumption of use when their own records show none, they said that's their policy as set out by the CEO, David Jenkins. As I found this policy completely mind-blowing (and potentially illegal), I asked why they don't make the assumption that no usage means, no usage? They replied, that's not the way the company works. So then I asked them if the company's customer service standard is to assume that all customers are liars when they report no usage until proven true, and they both dodged the question and just repeated the company motto. PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE AND DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, ENROLL IN THIS COMPANY, IF YOU CAN HELP IT. They have an AVERAGE of 1 star (which is the lowest possible) on Yelp and over 300 complaints with the Better Business Bureau! How Mr Jenkins and his C-Suite level staff can support this practice seems prime for a major lawsuit. read more

We moved in our apartment in September 2022 and when we received our first conserve bill the statement printed on it said sign up for e-bill to not be charged the 5 dollar monthly admin fee so I did because every bit of savings helps well I just recently really looked at my online account I have with my complex and noticed even after signing up for e-bill I have still been charged that 5 dollar admin fee every month so I called customer service to find out why and of course the customer service representative had amnesia and didn't have any idea of what I was talking about and told me they charge that fee regardless of if we get a paper bill or do e-bill I said that's an absolute lie but since I can't find that bill I can't prove they're lying but they know they are lying and taking people for every penny they can get and Why are we being charged an administrative fee when the complex Hired you and are already paying you for your services?? Why do I pay People's Gas directly for my rental apartment but also get charged for gas by your company?!

We recently moved into a new apt in May and never got a bill for the first month. This is pretty normal as lot of utilities companies ask tenants to pay every quarter etc. However, we did get a threatening notice on our door in July first week. We also had to pay $10 late fees and $3 convenience fees. I know I wont get any of that back and David guy will copy and paste some message here as a response but I wanted to let these leeches know that I'm writing letters to local council members and our representatives in congress here in CA to let them know about the corrupt practices of this company. We can't let this happen - I'm also organizing people in my community and we are going to ask leasing office to stop doing business with this corrupt company CONservice. read more

Like others, we have been charged highly inaccurate fluctuating water & sewer bills for the last 6 months which is no way reflect our actual water usage. Same story I've noticed as reported here by other customers - they blame it on a probable leak but once investigated by one of their reps, we are told no leak, and that our water meter is not faulty. Absolutely the worst. I am forced to deal with these amazing folks by way of my lease and I detest it. They charge a monthly $10 "convenience fee" and they are hardly convenient. Their favorite game is delaying billing for up to 2 months and then slamming it onto one bill all at once. I would much rather pay each utility separately. That would be much more convenient than dealing with these people. Not to mention the gouging. We are paying more for water in a state that rains like 300 days a year than we were paying in California. We pay more for electricity here, too. We didn't pay that much when we were paying for utilities separately in another home in the same state with roughly the same square feet and two more kids living with us. It's insane. If your lease says you must pay Conservice for your utilities, I sincerely hope you consider bolting. Conservice deserves a ZERO RATING. IT IS THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER USED. For an entire year, I complained every month about a vacant electric charge that has been wrongly charged to me. I have spent almost an hour every time on the phone to explain to Conservice that my apartment is NOT VACANT. Every time they will force me to pay an extra 100-200 USD just to apologize that it was wrongly charged and made a false promise that it will not happen again. THIS IS TOTALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE. The service they provide is the absolute worst. And rest assure that even if you complain about it, they don't care and do nothing about it :) . read more
