After finishing the Niantic Artisan Festival, we stopped at Constantine's On The Bay to grab lunch. We were told we could sit anywhere so we chose a table by the front windows so that we could people watch even though it was raining, the room was brightly lit. We started with the Jumbo (6) Shrimp Cocktail, which were served on a bed of lettuce and cocktail sauce. Rather than having a meal, I decided to have the Mediterranean Style Crispy Calamari, it was tossed w/Garlic, Lemon, Artichoke Hearts, Peppers, Tomatoes and Capers. I also had a cup of the Lobster Bisque that was full of lobster chunks. Both were very good. My companions had the Fish and Chips, but substituted mashed potatoes. Our friend ordered a big burger and also substituted the fries for mashed potatoes. The food was delivered quickly and our waitress was very pleasant. I will definitely be back to try the other foods. read more

Good food, really awesome service and a place that was not super noisy. This is a cool place downtown for a special dinner out.

I came back here and this time did not order off the specials menu (I learned my lesson)! I ordered a watermelon marg & chicken parm. The chicken parm came up with a good sized salad & the chicken parm was soooo good! The toast points do not have any flavor, so I wish that was improved upon. I had enough chicken parm left to take it home. Overall, I was really impressed with the portions & flavors, I just wish the garlic toast points actually had garlic flavoring. read more

We went to lunch today. My wife ordered a crock of onion soup and I ordered a NY Philly cheesesteak. It took 45 minutes for the soup and a full hour for the cheesesteak. The food was just OK. When we asked about the delay, we were told the kitchen was "jammed," even though there were only about ten people in the restaurant. Either a poor excuse or a kitchen in serious need of help. If you're looking for a quick bite, I'd go elsewhere. read more

Can't say enough about the stuffed portabella or the fried tomato stacks, except that they are delicious. Went twice in one week...that is how good they are. Thanks to the lovely weather we have being having, I was able to sit outside on the deck. Great view of Niantic Bay. read more

This quaint restaurant sits between the LI Sound and Main Street in Niantic. An ugly chain link fence interrupts the view but not the restaurant's fault! The food was plentiful and amazing! We had two of the Short Rib Dip handhelds in ciabatta bread. It was layered with mushrooms and caramelized onions and covered in cheese. I'm so glad I ordered it! The boys ordered the Philly Steak sandwich and the Pastrami on rye and split it so they didn't have to choose between the two! They raved about both. The fries were extra crispy like we ordered which rarely comes out crispy even when requested. My wedge salad was perfect with romaine lettuce and tasty cherry tomatoes. The only thing I didn't like was the dip that came with the short rib. It was too thick and too salty but not needed anyway! We finished with the five piece Baklava which was delicious and just the right ending to this epic meal! read more

In Niantic, after a day at the beach we went to dinner at Constantine's On The Bay. This was previously called The Main Street Grill. This place offers a nice view of the Niantic Bay. I have been here twice under their old name, and it still looks exactly the same. The menu is a bit different, with not as many burgers on it. We were seated outside, our waitress was lovely, she was super chatty and friendly. She told me that Constantine's On The Bay, was the original name of the restaurant, before the Main Street Grill. And now they're back to the roots again. The waitress suggested I get the Niantic Bay Sunset for my cocktail. This was a beautiful looking drink, but it was far too sweet for me. I got a cup of the Clam Chowder. This was delicious, thick, creamy, hearty and flavorful. It was obvious it was made in house. I also got the Salmon Salad. This was so good, the salmon was a bit dry, but not too bad. There was goat cheese, candied pecans, spinach, pear, and these really cute tiny little red peppers, which I have never seen before. What a colorful and filling salad. Others in my party got the calamari, the tuna carpaccio and the fish and chips. We had a great time at Constantine's On The Bay. Third visit this summer. Twice for lunch and tonight for dinner. Lunches were a great burger and a romaine wedge salad /with grilled chicken ...which I could not finish. Liked the salad so much we split it tonight for an appetizer. But this time it was iceberg lettuce. Stuffed shrimp were medium sized with a nice sauce and chicken Marsala had some good sized mushrooms. Portions were large and roasted/mashed potatoes delicious. There are quite a few tables inside and on the lower and upper decks. Parking easy...looked full when we drove in but there were still plenty of available tables. Believe it or not, get there at 5pm on a Friday night and you basically have the restaurant to yourselves for 15 mins! Then it gets packed! We started with Mediterranean Calamari- crispy, not chewy, and the marinara was spot on! Braised short ribs and the Steak special for dinner. The ribs were delicate and a boast of flavor. Mashed potatoes and a very thin, julienne medley of vegetables sat beautifully on the plate. The steak special, topped with crab meat and a bernaise was cooked perfectly, accompanied by roasted asparagus and mashed potatoes. It's now our "go to"restaurant! We ordered takeout and were amazed by how well the food translated to our home. Even the fish and chips, which we worried would get a little moist in the car, was crisp and delicious. The food is great and the service is excellent. Really a comfortable gathering place with a beautiful view.

My husband and I went for a late lunch around 3pm during the week. I was surprised in the large dining room no one was there except us and one other table. I had the fish and chips and it was some of the bast I've had in the area in a long time. A nice size piece of cod with a very tasty batter that did not overpower the fish. The fries were wonderful and well seasoned and the cole slaw was good too. I will go back definitely for this. My husband had the baked stuff cod and he just said it was ok. This was the first time going there after being taken over by new owners. The atmosphere was disappointing. It had a beachy theme, but they did not elevate it. I presume they were trying to cut cost which is unfortunate because the location is great and would draw more people with a nicer ambience. Nice service read more

This place far exceeded our expectations! I'm a foodie, so I don't give positive reviews very easily. The steak was huge and delicious, with lots of fries underneath in a delicious sauce, as well as crispy onions on top. My friend had the tortellini with seafood and that was even better than mine! There were big pieces of lobster in there! Our server was very sweet and the service was fabulous. The place was decorated in an ocean/beach theme, which we loved. All I can say is WOW. Stopped here before a fishing trip in Niantic, had never been. Food was unbelieveably good! This is the first time I've ever had fried calamari that wasn't greasy. It was crispy and I was able to finish the entire plate without feeling sick after. The wedge salad is spot on... delicious blue cheese dressing. I got the seafood casserole which was a special for the day. Insanely good! Service excellent and friendly. I'd consider coming back to Niantic just to eat here. Will definitely be back! read more

Well let's say you're hungry for a nice meal. You may want to go somewhere else. We stopped for a nice meal. We were greeted very pleasantly and seated quickly. We ordered steamers steak and stuffed shrimp. They said they don't serve bread ok? The salad was the best part of the meal? The steamers came to us in basically mud and sand. The steak was over done but it was big. We asked about the stuffing for the shrimp (wife is allergic to peppers) we were told no peppers. Well it had peppers. It was not a good day to eat there. Always great food and awesome service! The salmon specials are the best I have ever had, and the steaks are amazing. Watch Facebook for their weekly specials as they are really good like the not your mom's lasagna last night. And of course they have many delicious seafood and pasta plates as well. What a lovely place! Very clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated. Our party of five stopped in for dinner and were seated immediately. The waitress was very friendly and helpful, describing the different entrees and assuring us we were going to love what we ordered. And we did! We shared caprese-type appetizers and house salads that were extremely fresh and generously portioned. The salmon entree, the steak, the vegetable primavera, and the surf & turf special were all cooked and seasoned perfectly with delicious accompanying sauces. (I really loved the potato au gratin) We sampled each other's dishes and had plenty of leftovers to enjoy the next day. The only (very small!) suggestions would be to offer bread with the meal and to serve the salad and appetizer in regular dishes--it was hard to scoop the caprese tomato/mozzarella out of the large martini glass without it falling all over the table, and the salads were spilling over the sides of the narrow flat plates, which made it hard to mix everything together when we poured the dressing on top. A simple plate and bowl would have made it easier and less messy. We definitely will be back! read more
