The patio is delightful when the heat isn't on full blast. It was a little too hot, but I liked the patio. Service was great. Food came out quick and was wonderful. Everything was perfectly seasoned and the wine list is more than adequate if that's your thing. I would absolutely come back.

Beautiful, crystal-clear saltwater tank. The restaurant is located within a beautiful Inn. It overlooks a large, well-maintained marina. We arrived without reservations a bit after one pm on a Friday. (Mid-September). We only waited 3-5 minutes for a spacious booth inside. My husband and I are boaters and are quite familiar with this area; however, we have never come across this gem previously. We are looking forward to sharing our thoughts post-meal. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend! Thank you to Karen, Jennifer and to our server, Barbara!

Fresh Salt, a fairly large restaurant providing a variety of seating options. For one there's a full sized bar, surrounded by multiple dining tables for indoor dining. On those rare 2025 sunny days, there's also outdoor umbrella seating holding picturesque views of the marina. And for convenience there's an additional outdoor bar. To round off things there's an enclosed glass patio for use during inclement weather. As for the food, during one of our indoor dinners I chose the Mediterranean Halibut Filet as my main. Perfectly pan seared halibut on top of sautéed spinach, on top of Lemon Risotto surrounded by a white wine, tomato broth. It was a clean and fresh dish, yet very rich in flavors. This was a meal I didn't know I needed. One of the starters, Mushroom Bruschetta. A generous serving slathered with Roasted Garlic Ricotta, Asiago shavings and Porcini Mushrooms. This app could rival any meat dish. Another hit. Our server who was on point throughout, easily tempted us with dessert. It was an easy choice. We chose to share the warm chocolate chip cookie. It was buried under a scoop of Caramel Gelato, with all the sundae fixings, topped off with a heaping pile of hearty walnuts. A perfect way to end our meal. All meals we chose during our stay were perfectly prepared and well thought out. A menu complete with something for everyone.

Great Dock dining spot! We pulled up to the marina and were able to get a quick table on a Saturday evening without a reservation. I don't advise not making a reservation but we were able to get in around 5:30pm. Dining on the water around sunset was romantic and really serene. Food was excellent! Oysters super fresh and Lobster rolls were one of the best I have had in CT. Highly advise a stop by especially if you are boating. Hotel looked really nice too !

Love this place! The food is great and so is the service. The restaurant is right on the water/marina so there is a super nice view from most seats in the dining room.

    The view!

All about the view! Drinks well made and delicious appetizers. We caught sunset and moonrise on a beautiful summer evening.

I've visited this restaurant twice within the last 3 months. Both experiences were very positive - great cozy ambiance with a nice view of the water, great service (I wish I remembered the name of my waitress who had my table both times) and good food. My first visit, I tried the burger which was very tasty. On the second visit I had the pork chop, which was flavorful and not dry at all. I tasted the ribeye which was also delicious. Both visits were for special occasions and this was definitely a good setting for that.

The best restaurant in the area! High quality food, service, and views. Make sure to sit outside! You cannot go wrong with what you order but the tuna triangles and lobster roll are definitely my favorite and the best in the area. 10/10 recommend

So they do two portion sizes here with most of the food selections. Started with the large portion of the Ceasar salad to split. On the smaller side to split but still enough. Very tasty. For an entree I had the smaller portion of the Fresh Salt Cioppino. This is the second time coming here and having this dish since I loved it so much the first time. Definitely enough food with the salad. The lobster essence sauce is delicious. One critique. I substituted the pasta for the spinach and they buried it underneath the shellfish as if it was the pasta. That was a bit strange. Not a lot of it either. Would be nice if it was on the side. For $4.95 extra, again, would be nice on the side and a bit more of it. Boyfriend got the salmon and said it was very good. Hummus a nice touch. Service was excellent. Ambiance beautiful. On a nice night you can walk around and see the boats. Mini golf too. Outdoor bar has about 6 seats if you come early for a drink. Lovely evening at Fresh Salt.

This restaurant is situated right on the water and sports beautiful views and classically coastal decor. The restaurant is cozy, with a dark wood interior and soft lighting. The service was excellent. They helped accommodate our table choice and quickly delivered the dishes throughout. All the food was delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the lamb shank stood out.

Been going there since 1978 when the food was great. Haven't been there since until last year and my latest visit this past Friday. The foo

    Do they have outdoor dining?

It was there but I was a) there out of season, b) a major renovation and area was being built so suspect not only a yes but a major yes! By now. I would call them to see if i am right.

With some good and some not-so good, we concluded that we aren't likely to return -- in spite of the really yummy tartar sauce (more on that in a moment). Penny Lane is a bit of an English Pub-style restaurant on two levels. We ate upstairs since the lower level was filled (steps, no elevator that we saw). Service was slow to nonexistent. It took us ten minutes to get recognized by a server who asked if we wanted something to drink and took another five minutes to get it. After we ordered we waited 25 minutes to get our food. We got no drink refills. Maybe service is better in the first floor? Ah, the food. Fish and Chips is essentially pub food, so that's what we got. The crust was light and buttery, quite good. The fish was utterly without any sort of flavor, as bland as could be imagined in your worst imagining. The tartar sauce was super good, but it just couldn't disguise the fact that the fish was tasteless. We also tried the poached egg and corned beef hash, which was ok though the hash was kind ... well, and of a hash, unremarkable at best. Conclusion: There was little that was appealing in our experience. Oh yeah, another ten minutes to get our bill... a long afternoon.

The bar seating was full, but we got right in upstairs at a cozy larger dining room. Service was excellent, professional, and did a great job. The menu was attractive. Lots of different drinks, classic pub food, your typical burgers, and fish and chips kinda stuff. But also a lot of other goodies too. I had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich with fries. It tasted good, the brioche roll was very fresh. I could have been seasoned more. I wasn't wow'd by it, but it was good. Fries were average, but tasted ok. I think the pricing was reasonable. I would definitely give Penny Lane Pub another try. I'm guessing though in the summer this place is tough to get into, just the vibe I got.

I recently planned an errand in the general Old Saybrook area so I could try both at Jack Rabbits. I had the vague impression that there may be more than one part to Jack Rabbits. I went to the part that's more of a bar. It was crowded. There was one table open, but I opted for one of the last seats at the bar. If Jack Rabbits isn't quite a dive bar, it's dive-bar-adjacent. There were clearly a lot of area regulars there. The bartenders were all friendly and helpful. They knew the names of a lot of customers. Always a good sign. The thing about trying both the hot dog and wing part of the menu when you're alone, you can't really do a deep dive into either part of the menu. And the depth of the menu, definitely warranted a deep dive. I'll return to try more of the menu with reinforcements next time. I ordered a New York style hot dog, which was served with a split and grilled Hummel as the base. The toppings included sweet pepper relish, mustard, bacon pieces, kraut and onions. There was a lot going on in a way that I enjoyed. The dog was well cooked. They had a number of specialty dogs I'd like to try. I also ordered 8 Sriracha Lime Cilantro wings, and ate four there and brought the rest home for my son. Good flavor. Good texture. Meaty wings at a goods price. My son liked them too. Wing Addicts had another good call. I'll definitely return. 4.5 Stars

They seemed understaffed and it was at least 10 minutes before anyone came over. Our server never introduced herself. (Later looking at the receipt, her name was Cate) She simply walked up with no greeting and just said "what are we drinking?" My wine pour was significantly less than my husband's, which was not a good start especially after having waited. We ordered small plates to start and I wish we stopped there. The seared tuna was great and had both an aioli and a spicy soy based sauce. My husband had the Kobe beef pot stickers and they were tasty, with a nice warm veggie medley in the middle of the plate. The pot stickers could have used a bit more sauce though. When it came time to order entrees, I was fully set on the lobster panini. The server advised me not to order that, and raved about the carbonara, so I ordered that instead. Big mistake. Huge! I wish she just let me order my panini. The carbonara was full of dark meat chicken (gross!!) that tasted gamey, and the sauce was broken. It clearly had too much butter and was not an authentic carbonara. I told our server multiple times that I did not like it. I had separated all the chicken in a pile and ate maybe 1/3 of the pasta. She strangely kept offering to make me the short rib pappardelle instead, which I declined, as I had no interest in that dish. I found it so odd that she picked out a specific dish to offer as a substitute. At least if she offered the lobster panini, it would have made sense since that's what I originally wanted to order, if not for her meddling in my order. My husband ordered a burger cooked medium. It was fully well done. The fries were limp and not crispy. Not a good showing. He wrapped his up to take home, but I did not. Clearly not eating 3/4 of the meal and also not taking it home was a sign of my discontent. I wish I took photo of my plate as I left it. I was pretty offended when she did not remove it from the bill. It's fine, we paid it, but that will be the first and last time we dine at Aspen. We paid our bill as charged, took the cost of my meal out of her tip, and called it a day. This is something I do not often do, but I felt warranted on this occasion, due to the poor food quality and her absolute indifference. We will not be back. Two stars only for the yummy small plates and the very very sweet hostess!!
