i am so disappointed in the care that my dad was given during his "rehab" after leaving griffin…read morehospital. the hospital tells the family that your loved one needs to go to rehab so they can receive physical therapy and other services before returning back home. My dad was there during end of Covid so he was put into a room at end of hallway (away from everyone else and only had minimal interaction w/cna's etc) his meals were brought to that room and he was basically secluded and alone for 14 long days!! when my dad was admitted to BW he had onset dementia but I can tell you without a doubt that after his 30 days at BW he was never the same. they did so much irreparable damage that took so much from my dad and our family. IF I wuld have known, I wuld have demanded that he comes directly home. I could have given him 100% more PT and tlc for sure. it's a shame that the hospitals make their money from us and then make people go to nursing homes for so called "rehab" just so they can also benefit financially. it's disgusting for sure!! I'm sorry to my dad because he deserved so much more. my advice to anyone in similar situation to bypass BW or any other "rehab". by the way, their PT (it he had it at all) was 30 mins or less 5 days/week.its all about money and that's it!!!

The center released my mother who was recovering from hip surgery to her home where she has absolutely no care. They said they would assist in getting her on Medicaid and she would be in a " pending" status until she was approved which meant she would be allowed to stay until the application was complete and approval accepted. This would have allowed us to get someone into her apartment to care for her. Now she is literally left alone while I myself, her daughter, recovers from surgery and my brother tends to her, his family and his job. It's nearly impossible and we are afraid for the safety of our mother. If the administration would have listened to us and guided us sooner and better and not just say they handed my brother a packet ( but didn't) and hadn't been so condescending, I believe our mother would have been in a much better position by now. We are afraid.

I was happy with the majority of the staff. There was one nurse in charge of meds that shouldn't have been. She couldn't answer any questions and had no personality. I don't like to single out 1 staff member but she continued to give my mom Miralax when she had diarrhea. Due to this bringing her home turned into a fiasco of her sobbing while "it" was pouring out of her. It's not a prescription, you can't check or make that decision on your own! How is someone like that in charge of dispensing medications?

One practitioner failed to treat his illness and spoke to him with outright disrespect--completely unacceptable behavior from anyone, let alone a medical professional. Children deserve to be treated with care and dignity, and that was absolutely not the case here. On top of that, the front office staff is consistently rude and dismissive to parents. It's painfully clear they no longer care about their patients or their families. If your child's well-being matters to you, stay far away from this place.

My child had an apt canceled and they still billed his insurance (I only caught it when I got the bill for the copay in the mail). Staff: The front office staff is atrocious- no follow through, no call backs, no personality (terrible for working in a pediatric office). The physician we saw took 10 days to send in a prescription for my child who went a week without their medication. This physician also barely assesses the child when in the office: never measured head circumferences of my children when they were infants, no assessment on my last child who was there (point of care strep test + and thus treated the strep and never assessed him, just gave antibiotics), etc. If you are looking for good, thorough care for your child, this is not the place. I went against the advice of others I know who useD this practice and left b/c of the same issues, thinking it was close, convienent, and the pediatrician we were seeing was personable with kids. Don't make the same mistake I made - the kids deserve better care than what this practice can give.

He spent the last week of his life here and was treated with dignity, care, and respect. I noticed that the hospital staff (or volunteers) had crochet butterflies with a short prayer attached to them. The butterflies were placed on his pillow and chest. He looked peaceful. The receptionist at the front desk was sweet and pleasant. She took a photo of all visitors for the temporary badge. The hospice is located in a very peaceful setting, overlooking Long Island Sound. This was actually America's first hospice. The interior was a bit outdated, but the outside view was beautiful and serene. Rest In Peace, David Kniess.

Out of the 3 months, the Aide was here 10 times. When questioned, I was told there was a problem. My parent had no Aide for the entire month of September. When she became in-patient, giving me Respite, I was contacted 3 days in a row. I was asked questions on how to handle my parent. Isn't this Hospice? Shouldn't they know how to handle a dementia patient???? The nurse schedule changes, no consistency. I'm so disappointed in the non-services of CT Hospice.
