My Father in law has an apartment in Independent Living while both of my parents now live in the Memory Care unit. So we've experienced two different levels of need based care. I've found that the Spring Meadows staffers are very good. The nurses, the aids and even dining room staff really seem to care about the residents and try to make the difference to keep them engaged and make sure they're well cared for. I'll also add that the office staff and the general manager coordinate very well with us, the family members, to help with the details involved of having an aging parent who needs the assistance of this kind of facility. They are always helpful and respond promptly if I call with questions or requests. It's been a blessing to have my parents be able to live at Spring Meadows and get the good care that they need.

Unfortunately several of the folks near my husband's room had dementia and screamed much of the day, which made for a difficult healing environment. We were most interested in physical therapy and although the practitioner was fine, he was often working with 3-4 patients at a time. Had I been told that this apartment wouldn't be ready until June, I wouldn't have left work early on 2 separate occasions, spent time and effort on filling out a 30 plus page application and submitting countless bank statements. I also stopped looking for an apartment for my mother. What a waste of time. I would never recommend or do business with this establishment ever again.

I visit them between once and twice a week. I have seen many of the units in here, have eaten the food, met many of the people, rode in the elevators and can give a pretty good review of this place since I've seen other "old folks" homes. Most of the residents in Tower One are Jewish. Ever since HUD took over, the Jewish community within the towers is getting smaller with other groups moving in. While I'm sure it's a great place to live if you're Jewish like my family, I would feel like an outsider if I wasn't Jewish. Many of the units have been renovated. They look absolutely great and have been modernized. The older units are "old". They look like they are from the 70's. Either way, if you are living in Tower One, you have to get the meal plan which is six dinner meals per week except for Saturday because of the Sabbath. The food isn't half bad, but it is bland and people often complain about the food. There are several options. Over the past three years, I have noticed a significant decrease in the quality of the food in the dining hall. The food for breakfast and lunch is actually pretty good. (remember it is all kosher) The dinner is dairy free and the breakfast/lunch is meat free. The best part about living in Tower One / Tower East is the staff. From the administrators to the Security to the wait staff, they are all top notch. They know everyone's name in the entire building, so if you're not a regular or a resident, they will know instantly. If you live on certain floors, you need to purchase Utopia services which is like assisted living. There is a minimum charge, and extra hours can be purchased. The price to live here seems expensive, however when you break it down, it's actually not that bad. Units in Tower One which include the six meals run from $1300 for a studio to $2000 for a one bedroom. This is the total cost with everything included besides phone/cable.

The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and caring, I mean really caring and sweet. The food is delicious, healthy and there is plenty of it. If residents don't like food they just have to ask and another food will be made for them. There are all kinds of activities and excursions with plenty of staff to help; and they throw some of the best parties I have ever been too. Medical staff is on hand which is very helpful. My grandmother arrived and was very scared (she lived in her home over 65 years) I swear within a day or two she really started to love the place. She has made many friends. What I like best is that we don't have to worry about her. We don't have to spend the weekend, doing laundry, cleaning and help with her showering. We get to spend quality time with her. That's the best feeling in the world. The place has just upgraded the place, new carpets, new paint, new furniture everything is spotless and beautiful Kathy Braga is the Chief Fun Fairy and Director of Middlewood's. She runs a tight ship with lots of love. She makes everything run seamlessly. My grandmother has long term care insurance and they gave us so much trouble to get them to pay for my grandmothers care. Kathy dug in and we got the result we wanted they'd pay for her care. I don't believe that we would have gotten the same conclusion with out her. We love her, we love the place and we are very, very happy.

Also on the premises is a geriatric doctor and psychiatrist, both of which my mom sees. There are activities every day and also a van that takes residents to doctor appointments, the store as well as field trips and Wii bowling competitions with other assisted living communities. There's something for every level of care for seniors and I am very happy to have my mom living there.

They have not pressured us into making any quick decisions. They really do care about their future residents. Mom has visited PL several times in an effort to make her comfortable and familiar with the facility, always being treated kindly and with great respect by all staff. We are currently working closely with case manager Laura Rutowski. Laura has been responsive, kind, professional, and all around great to deal with. She always goes above and beyond to answer questions and resolve any issues and concerns, including dealing with a few unhinged family members! The transition from home to assisted living is a very difficult one for the resident and family, particularly those closely involved in caretaking. Laura and the entire staff have offered invaluable advice on how to manage this big life change successfully and make the change a happy and rewarding next chapter. Aside from the amazing staff, the facility is immaculately clean and tastefully decorated in a beautiful and peaceful setting. The majority of reviews of Peconic Landing are overwhelmingly positive, and we agree based on personal experience.
