The con that 3 miles won't get you anywhere far but it's still available as an fyi. Check in was super long. Unless you pay for early check which is $50. You will wait. The pro to this is if you get there early enough a full breakfast is available with your stay. They also have a free evening happy hour that starts at 5:30p for cocktails and appetizers. Ambiance is pretty with inside views on each levels. Palm trees and fountains and swimming pool outside is refreshing as well. Room was spacious . Living room area with sofa bed. Our family stayed at Embassy Suites Miami for one night before our cruise. There were definitely…read moresome positives, but unfortunately our overall experience was overshadowed by poor communication and customer service. The hotel itself is beautiful, and our room was spacious, clean, and exactly what we expected. Those aspects of our stay were excellent. Our first issue was with the airport shuttle. We were instructed to wait at Door 7 for pickup. The shuttle arrived once, but it was already full. The driver told us he would be back in about 30 minutes to pick us up. When he returned, however, the shuttle was full again. What no one explained was that the shuttle always picks up at Doors 1 and 4 before returning to Door 7. Had we been told that, we would have gone to Door 1 to ensure we got on the next shuttle. Instead, after waiting for over 30 minutes, it was nearly 11:00 p.m., and we were traveling with three exhausted children. We ended up paying for an Uber because we couldn't continue waiting. When we arrived at the hotel, I explained our frustration with the lack of communication about the shuttle. The front desk employee simply responded, "Well, it's a complimentary service." There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the confusion, and no indication that anyone cared enough to improve the process for future guests. Our second issue was even more frustrating. The air conditioner in our room wasn't working. Maintenance came to our room and confirmed it was broken. We were traveling with two adults and three children, yet the same front desk employee told me my only options were to stay in the hot room or move to a room with one king bed. When I explained that five people couldn't sleep in one king bed, she repeatedly said, "That's all I can offer you," with a very rude attitude. I felt as though I was being treated like the broken air conditioner was somehow my fault. There was never an apology or any concern for our situation. It wasn't until I became so overwhelmed that I broke down crying at the front desk that she finally offered us two king rooms. Even then, she acted angry the entire time. I could hear her around the corner telling another employee that I was "demanding" two rooms, when all I was asking for was enough beds for the five people included in my reservation. She acted as though providing a reasonable solution was a personal inconvenience. Our final disappointment involved the cruise transportation package we had prepaid. At check-in, the front desk employee said she couldn't find our reservation for the transportation and told us it would cost an additional $12 per person. Only after we showed her our confirmation email did she add us to what she called a "priority list" for the morning shuttle. The next morning, no one knew anything about a priority list, and everyone acted like it didn't exist. It felt misleading and completely disorganized. This hotel has a beautiful property and clean, comfortable rooms, but customer service and communication matter just as much. With better staff training and a greater focus on guest service, this could have been a great stay. Instead, it was a very frustrating way to begin our family vacation.

Walking distance to a Publix, the mall, bakery, etc. The hotel checkin is on the 6th floor, the first floor is mainly a seating area and concierge. They offer free hot breakfast, mini fridge and microwave in the room, cruise shuttle at time of this review is priced at $12 with pick up times at 10a, 11a, and 12p. If you miss breakfast, they had breakfast bags with fruit and other grab and go items. You will need your room key to access the laundry room and guest floors. There is no carpet in the room I was in (basic king- not the elite level) and pets are not allowed. Service animals only. The hotel has a lobby bar, three restaurants are located right next door (Sproutz, Batch Gastropub, and Shahs of Kabob). I dined at Sproutz and Shahas of Kabob and both are good, but they are not affiliated with the hotel. I stayed 3 nights prior to my cruise and I really enjoyed my stay. The air conditioner worked with no issues, pillows are very soft, bed was firm, but not uncomfortable and I slept better in that bed, than my own. There is a master light switch to control the overhead light in the entry and bathroom. You can operate them separately (it just takes some flipping of lights to figure it out). Decent water pressure and nice, hot water at night. Morning time I suggest getting your shower in early. Hot water is still present but not as hot as it was the night before. Tip- I took my shower at 5/6am the morning of checkout and the water was hot and perfect for a nice shower before leaving for cruise. Staff was always smiling, friendly and willing to assist. Carlos at the concerige desk is very helpful, ask for his recommendations and he is more than happy to assist. The 7th floor has the laundry facility, but many machines were out of order. This is going on my pre cruise hotel list because it was the perfect hotel and the perfect location. It was about a 15min ride to the cruise port and airport. The cruise port ride was booked for 8am, so I beat the 9am bumper car cruise port traffic. The video I posted is short and quick, but a glimpse of the room

I checked in on the app the day before and picked the room. We parked in the garage, went to the lobby, and got our room keys. As we went to the room, there was a sign on the door indicating the room was occupied. I was surprised and ended up going back to the lobby to see what happened. It turns out that the app was glitchy and we were put in a different room number. The lady behind the counter made adjustments and we were able to stay on the same floor as what I originally picked, but in a different room. The room had a king bed, a fridge, microwave, a TV, drawers, and a bathroom with a shower. It was very clean. We got two drink vouchers to redeem at the lobby/pool bar, which was a plus, to enjoy while we were at the pool. The hotel has a fitness center as well. The continental breakfast provided a selection of coffee and juices for the beverages. The food items consisted of a waffle bar, different types of pastries, and breakfast foods to choose from. They offered a little more than some of the other locations I have been at.

I was already expecting stress, and it was the complete opposite. Within about eight minutes I was sitting with officer Carlos Samoes who was kind, patient, and genuinely committed to helping. I had brought a professional passport photo that ended up not meeting the requirements, and instead of turning me away, he worked through it with me and even took new photos himself to make sure everything was correct. During my visit, I interacted not only with the officer, but also with the consul and the vice-consul, who both came out to assist. That level of care and accessibility is something you do not see often. One thing that is important to understand is that this is a government process with a very clear system. You do need to follow the steps online, submit what is requested, and wait for approval before scheduling. If you do that, it works. The system is structured for a reason and once your documents are approved, everything moves very efficiently. I was there for over two hours, not because they were slow, but because they took the time to make sure everything was correct. I also saw people arrive without appointments expecting to be seen, and that is simply not how it works. If you follow the process as designed, you will be taken care of. The entire experience was handled with efficiency, professionalism, and a very human approach. I walked out the same day with my passport in hand. Truly impressive and deeply appreciated.

Although, the Embassy in DC does throws a nice Orange Fest during April which is always fun. When you park and arrive in the building they ask you to sign in before you can enter any of the offices. For a small country the renewal requirements are pretty extensive from the passport picture, which has very specific sizing requirements, to the detailed application. Had to make an appointment online to see them first. You have the option of having the passport sent to you (but you must bring a self addressed prepaid envelope by one of their pre-approved vendors). I didn't bother. I just went back to the office to pick it up. I received an email telling me 2-3 weeks later it was ready for pick up. Well 3 months later I finally had a chance to pick it up. I made another appointment for my little one to get her initial passport too. The office has a waiting room with a TV which is a nice convenience. On the two occasions I've visited in Miami the office didn't seem too busy either. Since it's Brickell consider coming via metro. It's a little more convenient than dealing with the rush hour traffic.

All visitors for such services need to make advance online appointments which can become rather confusing since the web site is listed under "Dutchappointments" but more specifically being http://www.rsonac.org/other-services/8---other-logistics/schedule-an-appointment.html. I would also say confusing because of the interchangeability of words for the country, as being either Holland or the Netherlands but with the people being referred to as Dutch. Indeed, I onetime recall one of our many not to bright (and we do have a lot of them) U. S. Customs agents hauling one of my friends away when we were entering the United States. I enquired what the problem might be and was told that when questioned he had said he was from Holland but his passport indicated that he wasn't at all from Holland but in fact from the Netherlands. Go figure that one! LOL! Anyway, the Dutch or Netherlands Consulate Services, whichever, occupies a small but comfortable space on Brickell with the staff being very multilingual. Besides doing passports or merely attending to matters involving citizenship, they are friendly enough to chat with anyone interested in visiting Holland, having some brochures and travel information available and able to answer most any question you may have.
