In 2020 we had Star Mark Kitchen Cabinets installed. The cabinets have MDF inserts. We were told at the time the inserts were made of plywood. The quality and durability of the cabinets are horrible. The twenty year old cabinets we replaced actually held up better than the five year old Star Mark Kitchen Cabinets. We just wanted a different style. You can go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy a better quality cabinet vs the garbage from Star Mark. The cost from Consumers to replace a door or panel is ridiculously high. Not worth the cost. I've learned my lesson. Save your time and money and buy quality cabinets from a different establishment. Shame on Consumers for selling such Low quality cabinets. read more

I worked with Tom to find my gorgeous and unique blue/green vanity and he was wonderful. The vanity arrived and it was beautiful but there was an issue with the shelf inside. We had purchased a kitchen quite awhile ago. Over the years a couple of door fronts became marked up through regular wear and tear. We came back to Consumers to see if there was anything we can do. Joseph Thomas was incredibly helpful searching back through the store's records and finding our original plans and specs. He contacted the company and got them to recut our pattern. Division Manager: Phil Bedry Assistant Manager: Tom Dubensky- VERY unprofessional Accredited designer: Charles Herbert BAD salesman On February 4, 2020 we made a purchase for a custom bathroom vanity, sink, quartz countertop, and bathtub totaling $5,285.57. We left with the impression that we would receive the items listed above via delivery in 3 weeks time, starting with a first delivery of the bathtub on February 27, 2020. To our surprise there was no delivery made that day. We went to to showroom to see why the delivery was not made and Charles Herbert told us that the three week period was actually for the delivery of the tub to consumers warehouse. We finally received the tub on March 3, 2020. We still had no finalized delivery date of the other items listed above. We waited another two weeks and they told us the remaining items would be delivered sometime around April 8, 2020. After much back and forth hassle with Tom Dubensky and Phil Bedry over the phone they confirmed delivery of the remainder items for April 12, 2020. April 12 the delivery comes and it has everything except the quartz countertop. We went back to consumers and spoke to assistant manager, Tom Dubensky. He had no words of apology for the item being missing and went on to place blame on us while throwing his coworker Charles Herbert under the bus by stating we should have been informed that we would receive an email or phone call from a separate company that does the countertops within 1-2 weeks of placing the order. We checked our emails and there was no communication from such company. As they were about to close that day, Tom stated that he could not do anything personally because he had no power to do so and the countertop company is closed on the weekends. He insisted that we would have to wait for Phil on the next Tuesday to get further information regarding our missing item. It been two and a half months and out bathroom still is jot complete because we thought we were working with a professional company. Clearly we were mistaken. I am writing an update to a previous negative review as the company has tried to make amends. Following writing these reviews, they did return my email and agreed to pay for the cost of the garbage can and apologized for the 'miscommunication' with the manager. They are trying to rush the correct garbage pail and have also sent a lovely edible arrangement basket to show their sincere apologies. I do appreciate all their efforts and just wish it didn't take getting to this point to do the right thing. We do continue to enjoy the rest of the cabinets and hope that they have learned from their mistakes and moving forward this would not happen to customers in the future. Would I order again? I probably would. I don't think they would make the same mistake twice and there is a genuine interest in making things right. I cannot ask for much more than that as a customer. read more

I recently visited the showroom to purchase a replacement bathroom vanity/sink and coordinating mirror. I took a number and after waiting about 20 minutes for my number to be called, was greeted by a design consultant - Thomas Dubensky. He was knowledgeable and patient. He answered my questions and then placed the order and indicated that the mirror was on back-order and should be available within 2-3 weeks. This was no problem for me. Happy to report that Consumers Kitchen & Bath contacted me by phone during the week and said that the order was complete. I scheduled the delivery and the order was delivered in perfect condition yesterday (Saturday). It took less than a week for me to receive my order from the time I ordered and paid for it! BTW, Thomas Dubensky was kind enough to facilitate me getting replacement parts for a Kraftmaid vanity I purchased 13 years ago! He furnished me with a copy of the invoice and details for me to contact the manufacturer to obtain replacement parts for the soft close drawers that no longer soft close. read more

Our kitchen and bath design consultant Gwynn was FANTASTIC! She patiently worked with me from the beginning to the end of both our kitchen, and 3 bathroom renovations. She is extremely knowledgeable with the quality of the cabinets, the functionality of how her customer's kitchen should operate and her eye for design. Designing a kitchen is more involved than you might think (so many styles, colors, finishes, details) so you need someone who is knowledgeable and *patient* in the process. I looked around at a lot of different places to buy my cabinets and finally decided on Consumers for one reason only - the salesman that first helped me (Thomas Dubensky). He spent hours with me finding the best design plan out there. He was very patient and understanding and made every last change and request I could think of until I was satisfied. We went back and forth a million times to find the perfect design at a price I was very happy with. Although their vendor was VERY slow - he was very on top of giving me status updates. I did find it difficult to contact him by phone, however e-mail wound up being the best was for us to communicate. He made a very long and difficult process as easy as possible and I would highly recommend working with him. I am in love with both my cabinets and my counter top which I purchased from consumers (at the best price I could possibly find). The only thing I was disappointed in was how the company handles any problems. One of my cabinets came broken and I am still waiting for parts 6 weeks later, AND I was told I need to fix the broken roll out drawer MYSELF (like I have any idea how to do that). The company SHOULD send a representative to make sure my cabinet is properly fixed. Overall I would say I had a pleasurable experience, but I would ONLY work with Thomas in the future. The other salesmen were rude and not nearly as knowledgeable as Thomas. He is by far the best salesman there. read more

We went into the E Meadow store approx. 2 years ago. At that time spoke with a v nice salesman who advised that he would sent someone to measure kitchen etc. Someone came did measuring. We didn't hear back from salesperson so about 3 months later tried to contact him and nobody knew who he was?? We were both busy so put project on back burner for about six months, then again tried to contact salesperson (who never called us back). Finally after being sent from this store to another to speak to someone, found out he had left. I asked if they still had our plans-was told yes and I must should in to the store to review. I then did so and found (what other reviews have said), one salesperson sitting at a desk who refused to acknowledge me, then when I asked re estimate plans said yes, they had them but he would not discuss until I had chosen all of my cabinetry. I had wanted to look at the plan first but he seemed to be on a personal phone call, so didn't want to bother speaking to me. I walked out and cannot imagine how much business this company loses due to this type of attitude (noted on other reviews also). The first salesperson seemed ok but then just disappeared and nobody bothered to follow up with me. Would not bother with this store again. Going to Home Depot or Lowes. read more

I ordered a complete kitchen from the East Meadow store this past spring and for the most part I am satisfied with everything. The salesman was knowledgeable and the cabinets were of the quailty I expected .The one thing that has me writing this review is the fact that there was one mistake with the order and I have been waiting four plus weeks for them to correct it and as of this writing I am still waiting (Aug 25 14). I have called several times to try to get it corrected .Their basic answer is always the same -you will get it as soon as we get it .I have asked them to try and expedite it so I can finish the kitchen .They got their money and could care less if the job gets done or not and could care less If I am a satisfied customer. I would not use them again for the way they handled this problem and I still have two bathrooms to do. read more

Went to East Meadow store on April 6th and ordered 4 cabinets for $4,211.41. Came back on April 10 to change order and due to changes made, we cut $900 off price and it came to $3,334.45. Order was processed. Then I got a letter on May 22nd stating my cabinets where ready and the amount was $3,775.20 or about $440 higher than agreed price. Told salesman to put delivery on hold until you fix mistake. Two weeks later I had to call salesman to find out what's going on and apparently NOTHING was going on and he said he was still waiting for manager to fix problem. On July 2nd we finally agreed to a $100 rebate and I agreed out of frustration. July 6th cabinets arrived but had a broken header panel and one cabinet was the wrong color. Another round of back and forth and a replacement came Aug 25th. THE WRONG COLOR AGAIN! Now manager at East Meadow location had to call Starmark Corp. And send reps to my home. That took 4 weeks and they took my wrong color cabinet and said two weeks I should get a call from Holbrook Consumers head office for delivery. That was 5 weeks ago so I just call the Holbrook office for information and talk to a manager (November 11th) and got a manager who said they would call me right back and that was two hours ago! Don't make the same mistake I did. Avoid this place at all costs! They are expensive and the worse costumer service ever. I've been nice and patient with undertrained staff and still not one person has said sorry or we'll take a few hundred off price because of all the screw UPS. Now, I'll give them two more weeks until I go to BBB and ask for refund. Big waste of time. Ps, Nothing against manager or staff, actual most seem very nice people but no company this size should be mishandling orders for months on end and screwing consumers. The owners or any managers with any say so are non existent. If your order is wrong and they have your money, good luck. Update: I forgot to mention that my order was 1" too high and I have to cut all cabinets. The salesman messed up and I confirmed paperwork to process order. I take some blame in that because apparently I should know hoe to read a cabinet maker sheet. Anyway, seems Consumers has passed me on to Starmark to avoid any work. A Starmark rep called me today to (because I complained to head office yesterday), to let me know I should get the correct color cabinet and replacement header in two to three weeks. I told them that their reps said it would take two weeks back 4 weeks ago to which he responded by saying, that the color was difficult to match. REALLY? The color that you make is hard to match?? Whatever. I believe they never processed the order because nobody from consumers was on top of it but I can't prove that. I'll keep all updated. read more

The absolute worst place to deal with. Went TWICE on different days during the week. And the sales people 1 couldn't get up to greet us. 2 didn't even bother to ask my wife and I if we needed help. Finally when we asked if they could help us. The one jerk salesman said he was busy and to ask another guy. Good job by him. He let a full kitchen and 2 bathrooms walk out the door. You can tell he didn't want to deal with a small job...geez it wasn't like the store was even busy. They only will come measure for kitchens...not bathrooms. I guess I am not worth your time and you lost out in the chance for my future kitchen renovation. Ohh and he didn't even ask my name at any point through NY uncomfortable stay to get s price quote. In rebuttal to the negative reviews, I'd like to say this place is great! The showroom has SO many items to view and select from. Way more brands/styles than the home centers. My wife and I appreciated the fact that we could browse as much as we wanted without being bothered, or wasting a salesperson's time. A recording plays while you visit the showroom instructing you how to obtain assistance for either bathrooms or kitchens, should you desire. read more

He initially spoke with us, then said he had to help another customer. We waited over an hour, and when he finally came to help us, after less than five minutes, in mid-sentence, he left us to talk to a friend who came into the store. What a wonderful experience for us, gave us our space to look around as much as we needed. Salespeople were walking around letting us know they were there if we had any questions. Even though I changed my mind a lot, Meri was very accomodating. As all home improvement projects don't go smoothly, Consumers Kitchens and Baths were always a phone call away (even on weekends). When Meri wasn't available, her co-workers were able to assist without hesitation. Our contractor has brought his other customers to our home to look at the kitchen and they ask us where we bought our kitchen cabinets, we proudly say "Consumers Kitchens and Baths"! read more

Based on numerous negative reviews I was leery but decided to see for myself. My wife and I spoke to a salesman. After looking at options, he scheduled us for the following week to look at a detailed plan. My wife and I rearranged our schedules to be there. The salesman didn't show up to work and didn't tell anyone he had an appointment. Another salesman apologized and we started to leave. Then I thought we could ask THAT salesman to help. We went back in the store and I couldn't find him. I went up to a different salesman at the next desk and said, "Excuse me. Do you know where the gentleman is that was sitting here?" His response, "I don't know. Somewhere in the store." REALLY? Not, "I will find him" "I will page him," etc. It's a showroom. It's a SALES FLOOR. If the sales force is a no show or don't want to life a finger for a potential customer....NO WAY. I wouldn't go in there if there gave kitchens away. My experience only served to reinforce the dozens of negative reviews I have seen on this company. read more
