Four cheese patty melt with chips
    Bethany G.

This was our second visit to the contempo Cafe, and it's a very solid quick service option! There's plenty of seating, it's always clean, the drink and ice machines were full and working, and the prices aren't terrible for Disney. Sitting right next to chef mickeys and all the hustle and bustle, loud music, screaming kids may be a little overwhelming depending on the day. The was hot, fresh, and delicious. They patty melt truly melts in your mouth and is so flavorful. The chips are a must try, very good, crispy and fresh. The Barbecue chicken pizza was a surprising win! The bread was thick and fluffy, with just enough crunch. They didn't skimp on the chicken or any of the toppings. Very good! When you order a soft drink, you get 2 refills during a 3 hour period, so you can hang on to your cup if you'll be wandering the resort for a bit. The staff here were pretty lackluster. Not much interaction, no one looked like they were happy to be there. Meh.

    Four-Cheese Patty Melt French Fries

Following our Magic Kingdom park day we decided to do a monorail gingerbread crawl. Our first stop was the Contemporary and we decided we wanted to go ahead and grab dinner before making our way to the Grand Floridian. We timed it perfectly and were able to order with no wait. My wife chose the Grilled Shrimp Bowl with Cilantro Lime Rice, Black Beans, Street Corn, Avocado, Pico de Gallo, Queso Fresco and Pickled Red Onion. I picked the Four-Cheese Patty Melt which was a grilled cheese, Beef Burger Patty, Caramelized Onions and Patty Melt Sauce with a side of French Fries. Both really liked our choices and was quite filling. Location was like a food court in the Grand Canyon Concourse in the main building. Overall would recommend for a quick option and will likely return.

    Cookie Croissant

I had been wanting to try this cookie croissant for awhile and since the price for an Uber leaving Magic Kingdom at 10:30pm was $60 I decided to go to the Contemporary Resort instead. The restaurant is conveniently located near the exit from the monorail. I arrived just before closing at 11pm and they looked out of the cookie croissants. I asked the cashier and she said they were closing so they were probably out. Then a worker came out from the kitchen with a warm one in a plastic container. Best part was they didn't even charge me for it. The cookie part was really good, as you would imagine any warm chocolate chip cookie would be. The croissant was dry and I only ate the center part of it. The dessert was a 3/5 but I gave the restaurant a 5/5 since my item was free.

Here's the thing about Disney World quick-service: each spot has its specialties, which are usually great, and then there are the standard, mass-produced items that can be found anywhere--and those tend to be hit or miss. Stick to the specialties. My wife and I recently dined at Contempo Café, and I have to say, the atmosphere is fantastic. You can't complain about having dinner with the Monorail gliding by overhead--it's a uniquely Disney experience. She ordered the Grilled Shrimp Bowl, which features cilantro-lime rice, black beans, street corn, avocado, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and pickled red onion topped with grilled shrimp. This was freshly prepared (evidenced by the wait time), and she absolutely loved it. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors paired beautifully, and it felt lighter and more elevated than your average quick-service meal--a rare find at Disney. I, on the other hand, went for one of their signature sandwiches--the Contempo Artisanal Burger. Unfortunately, this was a miss. The burger clearly sat for a while as the shrimp bowl was being prepared, resulting in a slightly cold, overcooked patty that had nothing remotely "artisanal" about it. I had to drown it in ketchup just to make it enjoyable. Maybe that's on me for choosing a standard option, but my takeaway is this: if you visit Contempo Café, stick to their specialties. There are some great options here, but the mass-produced items don't always hit the mark.

Located in the Contemporary Hotel, Contempo Cafe is a good spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. During a recent visit, we ordered some items for dinner on the mobile app. Prices were decent and affordable, considering it's on Disney property. Waiting time took longer than average, about 25 minutes, to receive my meal. There is ample seating to accommodate many diners, but this time, we opted to dine in our room. I ordered some items to try: the Sicilian Meatball Sub, the Kitchen Sink cookie, the DOLE Whip® Cupcake, and the 5-legged Goat Fruit Tart. The Sicilian Meatball Sub was hearty and flavorful. The meatballs and marinara were delicious, and the peppers added a nice kick. Although it was near room temperature when I started eating back in my hotel room, it was still enjoyable. The fries were good, too--better than average. The desserts were all good, my favorite being the DOLE Whip® Cupcake and the Kitchen Sink Cookie. If you like tart desserts, I recommend the 5-legged Goat Fruit Tart. There is also a grab-and-go fridge/cold section for drinks, desserts, salads, and more! Alcoholic options are also available. Since I ordered via mobile, I didn't interact much with the staff, but it was still a stress-free experience.

Located inside Contemporary resort, it's quick and inexpensive way to take care of meals. We were able to order through the app and food was ready within 10 to 15 minutes. The salads and chicken bowls we had were exactly as expected. However kids food was underwhelming. Pasta was soggy and sauce was bland; our little guy didn't care for it. Their cheese burger was bit dry also. It's located on the 4th floor easily accessible using escalators. Recommend if you want something quick and easy. Enjoy!

    Hot Turkey Sandwich

Hey! Not bad! Breakfast here was nothing special. I found their lunch menu to be more tasty. I stayed at the Contemporary Resort for a few days and you are able to mobile order for Contempo Cafe. Both times we hit "I'm here prepare my food" it took reallllllly long. So be prepared to wait a bit. For breakfast, I had the bounty platter. Which tasted as good as you'd expect it to be! Eggs were better than I thought because they weren't as rubbery as I expected. Everything else was just fine! For lunch I tried the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Hot Turkey Sandwich, and Chicago Sub. Food was surprisingly good! The chicken on the spicy chicken sandwich was tender and flavorful. The Hot Turkey Sandwich was filling and well balanced. The Chicago Sub was just fine but the au jus on the side was fantastic! Overall given the convenience, this is a solid place to eat at if you're staying at the Contemporary Resort. Side Note: I had a bite of the flourless chocolate cake and it was quite heavenly. I'd get that again.

Croque Madame was cheesy and delicious with a yummy runny egg. The matcha was sweet and had the blueberry flavor from the whipped cream.
