Will come again since it's convenient and also outside of the hustle and bustle of the parks. However no need to purposely come to visit this cafe. read more

Yes, we ALWAYS mobile order on our way to avoid any extended waits. We ordered the Patty Melt and Vegetable Flatbread. Both HUGE portions and definitely made fresh with fresh ingredients. The patty melt is sooo ooey gooey with caramelized onions, cheese, and patty sauce making a divine ooze for your burger patty!! The vegetable flatbread allowed us to pretend to be healthy - isn't pizza a vegetable anyway?? The broccoli, mushrooms, red peppers, and red onions are so tender and sautéed to perfection with plenty of goat cheese and mozzarella atop a crisp flatbread that holds up to the task! This was our second visit to the contempo Cafe, and it's a very solid quick service option! There's plenty of seating, it's always clean, the drink and ice machines were full and working, and the prices aren't terrible for Disney. Sitting right next to chef mickeys and all the hustle and bustle, loud music, screaming kids may be a little overwhelming depending on the day. The was hot, fresh, and delicious. They patty melt truly melts in your mouth and is so flavorful. The chips are a must try, very good, crispy and fresh. The Barbecue chicken pizza was a surprising win! The bread was thick and fluffy, with just enough crunch. They didn't skimp on the chicken or any of the toppings. Very good! When you order a soft drink, you get 2 refills during a 3 hour period, so you can hang on to your cup if you'll be wandering the resort for a bit. The staff here were pretty lackluster. You're sitting under the monorail--literally watching it glide overhead--and somehow the menu feels like it was designed by someone who's never actually eaten at Disney. It's Tomorrowland food served with yesterday's effort. The flatbreads? Fine. The sandwiches? Serviceable. The cupcakes? Instagram bait. It's the kind of food that tastes like it's already regretting being eaten. You'll finish your meal and immediately start plotting where to grab a "real" snack. The atmosphere should be iconic--monorails zooming overhead, Mary Blair murals towering above--but instead it feels like you're eating in the world's fanciest airport lounge. It's not bad, but it's definitely food you'd eat while waiting for your delayed flight to Orlando. The food here is so forgettable, you'll think the monorail just hypnotized you into eating it. Such a lifesaver when you have a tired, hangry or upset child. Food is decent, not anything to write home about but then again most food at Disney is mediocre. Following our Magic Kingdom park day we decided to do a monorail gingerbread crawl. Our first stop was the Contemporary and we decided we wanted to go ahead and grab dinner before making our way to the Grand Floridian. We timed it perfectly and were able to order with no wait. My wife chose the Grilled Shrimp Bowl with Cilantro Lime Rice, Black Beans, Street Corn, Avocado, Pico de Gallo, Queso Fresco and Pickled Red Onion. I picked the Four-Cheese Patty Melt which was a grilled cheese, Beef Burger Patty, Caramelized Onions and Patty Melt Sauce with a side of French Fries. Both really liked our choices and was quite filling. Location was like a food court in the Grand Canyon Concourse in the main building. I had been wanting to try this cookie croissant for awhile and since the price for an Uber leaving Magic Kingdom at 10:30pm was $60 I decided to go to the Contemporary Resort instead. The restaurant is conveniently located near the exit from the monorail. I arrived just before closing at 11pm and they looked out of the cookie croissants. I asked the cashier and she said they were closing so they were probably out. Then a worker came out from the kitchen with a warm one in a plastic container. Best part was they didn't even charge me for it. The cookie part was really good, as you would imagine any warm chocolate chip cookie would be. This is the fast food option in the middle of the Contemporary Hotel. We stopped here on the monorail to look around, and it was almost lunch time, so we ate here. The location is great - in the middle of a beautiful space, a ton of light from the huge glass walls at both ends- yet this is a casual serve yourself spot where my kids could be loud and no one cared. My kids opted for the turkey and cheese sandwich tray, which was pre-made and in a fridge to grab. Pretty bare bones, but very school-lunch-appropriate. During a recent visit, we ordered some items for dinner on the mobile app. Prices were decent and affordable, considering it's on Disney property. Waiting time took longer than average, about 25 minutes, to receive my meal. There is ample seating to accommodate many diners, but this time, we opted to dine in our room. I ordered some items to try: the Sicilian Meatball Sub, the Kitchen Sink cookie, the DOLE Whip® Cupcake, and the 5-legged Goat Fruit Tart. The Sicilian Meatball Sub was hearty and flavorful. The meatballs and marinara were delicious, and the peppers added a nice kick. Although it was near room temperature when I started eating back in my hotel room, it was still enjoyable. The fries were good, too--better than average. The desserts were all good, my favorite being the DOLE Whip® Cupcake and the Kitchen Sink Cookie. It's open until about 11:00 p.m., so we made sure to place our order before then. They give you a time window for when your food will be ready and alert you when it's available for pickup. What a surprise this was. In all the years I worked at WDW and The Contemporary I never ate here. The guests always raved about it and said it was a better value than it neighbor Chef Mickey's. My wife and I were in WDW for a Staycation and wanted to go see the late parade at MK so we picked someplace close and quick to eat dinner. The food we got was plentiful, fresh and actually reasonably priced for WDW. While it is a quick service restaurant, you place your order at the register and one of the CM brings your meals to you. Trust me on this....Get the Turkey Sandwich. It's so good and comes dressed with nice bacon, tomatoes, arugula, and cranberry mayo on a toasted multigrain bead. And I don't normally do mayo, ever. But this has a nice sweet, tart thing going. We usually share the turkey sandwich and a dessert and it's plenty. Our wonderful server at Outer Rim also recommends the Meat Lover's Pizza so we may try that next time. But it's so hard passing up the turkey sandwich. My wife and I ate at the Contempo Cafe this week for the first time in a month. We were pleasantly surprised at a couple of their newer menu items. On previous visits, I would have given the restaurant four stars. This time was a different experience! I had the Four-Cheese Patty Melt (Four-Cheese Grilled Cheese, Beef Burger Patty, Caramelized Onions, and Patty Melt Sauce). It was full of flavor. It is a very large entree, especially when paired with their shoestring-cut french fries. I am a big eater, and I couldn't finish the whole thing! My wife had the Chili-Cheese Mini Corn Dogs (covered in house-made Chili, Queso, Mustard, and Green Onions). It, too, was a large enough serving to be considered sharable. It was very tasty, with the various ingredients married in perfect proportions. The total cost of the meal was in the low-moderate price range (Disney price range, that is). The ambiance is hard to describe, with a huge open-air ceiling that goes to the top of the hotel, monorails running through the hotel on the periphery of the restaurant, and the excitement of Chef Mickey and Chef Goofy working through the diners at Chef Mickey (separated from the Contempo by a short wall). On our first night here, we were pixie dusted after an absolutely horrible first day of vacation, that is the only reason this is a two star review rather than one. We've had at least one meal here each day this trip. Honestly, had this not happened, it would be four stars. But the second to last morning was awful. Basically got accused of theft in front of other guests because previously, they told me to add the apples and chocolate milk myself. This time, they added it for me but I didn't realize so I grabbed them myself and tossed them in the bag. Thank goodness I ordered something else from a cashier that I couldn't order via mobile ordering, which is a whole other issue, or I'm sure I'd have been dealing with security over some apple slices and a chocolate milk. So, I go to the register to pay for my meal that I couldn't mobile order, and the cashier says, "and the apples?". And I say, "they come with the kids meal, don't they?" and she tells me they were already added to the bag. And I tell her, "well yesterday they told me to do it myself." And this is when they finally explained how their system works. I was absolutely mortified. I didn't realize if it's a mobile order they add it, but if you order from a cashier, they don't. Which is inconsistent and they should tell you how this works at the registers when you order, or in the app if you do a mobile order. I almost went to our room without the sides the other day because I didn't know they didn't add them. I offered to put the stuff back in the cooler myself and apologized profusely for the misunderstanding. She insisted on doing it herself, which made me feel even worse, like I couldn't be trusted. I'm pretty sure they shorted us a bag of apple slices in the end, but I just wanted to get back to my room at this point I was so uncomfortable and embarrassed. It wasn't worth it. What a waste of my time. Be consistent in your ordering practices, or have them posted somewhere, or something. Do better with this. Up until this happened, I'd been happy with this place despite the overpriced and limited menu, it is Disney World after all. But that was humiliating and now I'm anxious. I feel like I was accused of stealing because I didn't know how their system works and that isn't what I'd call a magical moment. After a long day at Epcot, Max and I grabbed some libations and took them to our room. We swore we were too stuffed and would wait for breakfast. Well, that didn't last long. Max talked to the manager and found out that they had a specialty sandwich and it was what the doctor ordered! Almost. This was a Chicago Dip. It had thin slices of beef on a hoagie roll topped with melted Provolone Cheese. It came with a side of au ju and a container of spicy pickled veggies. This sandwich hit the spot. WOW, that's a GOOOD meal! On my quest to eat at all the dining venues in Disney World, I must commend how good the food is at Contempo Café in Disney's Contemporary Resort. For a family of four, it cost us about $50 (We then added about $25 worth of desserts from the quick service fridges, so $75 in total). I chose the Sicilian Meatball Sub with fries. My wife had the Four Cheese Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Tomato-Basil Soup, and my kids had a Pepperoni Flat Bread and Kids Cheeseburger. The Sicilian Meatball Sub This sub is aesthetically appealing with the brightly colored banana peppers popping off the cheese and marinara covered meatballs, which were sitting atop slices of pepperoni, all conveniently situated on a cheese baguette. The cold, sweet crunch of the peppers matched perfectly with the warmth of the sandwich with each bite, making this a truly wonderful, albeit a bit messy, delight. And then the fries. These were no ordinary fries. No, these fries had flavor! As a secondary item on the plate, I enjoyed every bite that I got, since the my family took the rest! Seriously good sub, seriously good fries! Four Cheese Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Tomato-Basil Soup I'm a sucker for grilled cheese sandwiches. I couldn't tell you how many I've had since I was a kid up until now, but the Four Cheese Grilled Cheese sandwich was nothing short of extraordinary! Yes, it's a grilled cheese sandwich, but the cheeses they use (Aged Cheddar, Irish White Cheddar, Provolone, and Shredded Parmesan) are melted inside of grilled brioche bread and, if I'm not mistaken, a crispy piece of grilled cheese on top. It it was both crunchy and gooey every bite! What was a great sandwich on its own was enhanced by dipping it into the tomato-basil soup. I'm not a soup guy, but I'd eat that again and again! Even the soup BY ITSELF was incredible! Kid's meals The thin flatbread pizza delivered on all of the high notes that you would expect out of this type of meal. So did the cheeseburger. Both of these kids menu items come with 2 sides each and a drink. Desserts Like I stated before, we bought about $25 worth of desserts (4 items) that we enjoyed at the end of our meal. All were good, but I'm going to highlight the Dole Whip cupcake. This creamy spongecake was filled with what seemed like a pineapple custard or pie filling, making every bite moist with a light citrusy flavor. And lastly, we were given a sample of the handmade potato chips by a cast member who highly recommended them. When the chips came to the table, my expectations weren't high as my experience with handmade potato chips is that they usually come out thicker and lack the flavor that you would typically find in commercial brands. Getting a table or counter seating during peak hours may be difficult. There are a few tables outside the entrance to Contempo. Another seating option is doing take-out and going to the second floor (convention floor) that has couches and low tables in the common areas. The menu includes standard fast food with the addition of flatbreads ($13.29) and "Signature Sandwiches" (range $11.99 to 13.99 for Italian subs and patty melts). We had the burger and French fries ($13.99), the kids meal turkey pasta meal ($7.79 penne with meat sauce) and the kids cheese burger meal ($8.49 medium burger with no lettuce or tomato and no French fries). The kids meals come with two sides (grapes or Dannon yogurt drink) and a beverage (milk, juice or Dasani water). Amazing food with something for everyone. You also get a cool view of the hotel and the art on the wall (over 10 stories tall). The service was great. Would defiantly come back. read more
