I regularly visit my partner in Dubuque for several weeks at a time and finally decided to go to a local salon. I'm a little particular about where I go because of cleanliness. I decided to make an appointment here after reading the great reviews. I have to say that the reviews are right! I booked a shellac and brow wax appointment with Cass. She was wonderful to talk to, communicated well along the way, and performed excellent services. I am looking forward to returning the next time I'm in town. read more

Nice salon, great shampoo bowls, pleasant staff. The only reason I left off one star was because on the non negotiable mask policy.have been fully vaccinated. I went. In without one but the insisted I wear one. Being there for 2 1/2 hours was uncomfortable and they are no longer required per CDC. I feel I should have had the option. I am traveling and made the appointment a week ago. Had I known this policy when I made the appointment, I might have gone elsewhere. We are on our way out of town so I didn't choose to walk away, My stylist was great! read more

Contempo is the definition of excellence. The staff is friendly and the inside is gorgeous. They are always up to date on fashions as well. The only bad thing I hear about Contempo is the price, but I don't really understand it. I am more than willing to pay this kind of price because I know the haircuts I get will be right every time. I've had a lot of bad hair cut experiences where things look really bad for the first few days and then look decent once your hair grows out. Not with Contempo. It looks as good on the first day as it does 2 weeks later. They cut it well and I can let my hair grow for several weeks and it still looks good. If you take into account the quality of the staff, the environment, the facility, and the personal care, the higher prices are well worth it. If you don't trust my opinion, just trust the community's. They've won "best hair salon" from BestFest for several years now. I believe they may be up to 9 or 10 in a row by now. This is the worst haircut I have ever had. It is WAY too short. It looks like the bottom around ears and neck were shaved and a bowl put on top and cut around! I'm embarrassed to go in public. The sink was dirty and she just wiped out the hair and didn't disinfect it. I would give a zero if possible. read more

Hillary Dotterweich is always spot on with her highlights / lowlights. She specializes in body waxing & gives a fantastic massage when shampooing. The staff at Contempo is very welcoming, professional, there is laughter at every 4-6 appointment. The owners have clients and work on site, they are invested in their business & the training of the staff. The best part is you are treated like family. Wow!! I had the spa pedicure, and my husband had a 90 minute massage. Both were excellent. We received treatments right on time. The staff was wonderful, the atmosphere calming, and the staff was great. We will return next time we're in Dubuque. read more

I went there and they were so friendly. I absolutely loved how my hair turned out. It was perfect! I would highly recommend, but the prices are steep. I was shocked to hear what my bill was. They do an amazing job and really take time to give you that 1st class treatment. Definitely worth the money for the most part. I don't often write reviews but when I've discovered a business that merits recognition, I do. Contempo Salon Spa has become my go-to spot whenever I'm in need of a haircut. I've found Linda and Lisa to be expert stylists and have never been disappointed with their cuts. I'm not one to book too far in advance and often call hoping for an appointment that same day and more often than not, get one! And if not, there's always been an opening available the next day with one of them. They don't push products but I've enjoyed good results when they have made a recommendation. LIttle wonder this salon is so popular. read more
