To start, we were greeted with a warm and friendly greeting. It was obvious we were first time visitors. Joshua was the cashier and did a great job explaining the menu as well as had exceptional customer service. The food was 'fire'. We ordered whitefish, catfish with shrimp. The sides were fried okra, red beans and rice, dirty rice and green beans. The meal also included hushpuppies. The food was definitely a 10/10. Will definitely be back. When my plans were suddenly canceled for coffee with goats, we made a detour to this 5 star restaurant. To our surprise it was a little place at the gas station, a hole in the wall to be truthful. Not wanting to judge a book by its cover, we ordered what Joshua recommended: fried catfish, red beans and rice and wings. Thank goodness I had a cheat day on the calendar! The fish was great. It was the right level of salty and SUPER crunchy. The fish was meaty too. This is a huge compliment from me, because I don't eat catfish and I do not eat fried things. This review is based on their fried catfish. I have seen this place often but being a New Yorker my brain immediately said nope it's at a gas station, so I continue to pass it but one day I decide to ignore that mentality and I'm so happy that I did. The fried and grilled catfish are divine! They're flaky, juicy, seasoned with, and meaty. For a fillet I love how much meat I get because other places think filet means skinny but not here. Since I tried the catfish I have been coming here every week and ordering it! I'm sure their entrees are just as good. Also, the lady that always takes my order is so friendly. Some of the best fried catfish and jumbo shrimp I have had in a very long time. Privately owned restaurant everything is cooked to order. Nothing is over seasoned. It is perfectly done and the price is very much on point. We were waited on very quickly when we arrived And they were extremely friendly. We've been planning to try Conti since they opened and this past weekend we made it a point to stop in. We ordered 2 #16 plates. I got red beans and rice and fried okra and my husband got onion rings and corn. We got it to go because we had just been to Aldi and had cold food. If not, I would've loved to eat there. The place was clean and inviting. It looked to be short-staffed, as one person seemed to be doing everything, but he was super nice and kept us engaged while we waited for our order to be taken. After we paid, he gave us a time (15 minutes) and we went over to the connected convenience store to check it out. True to his word, our food was ready and we were out the door. I have to tell you - our food was delicious and the portions are HUGE! We could have easily shared one plate (but I'm glad we didn't!! LOL) Three giant pieces of hand-battered whitefish, 3 enormous hand-battered shrimp, hush puppies, sides and sauces. The batter is seasoned nicely and is super tasty. I'm already looking at what we can order next. They have wings, so... Do yourself a favor and try it out. I'd probably order online next time to minimize the wait time. I always feel like I'm pressuring the staff by standing there watching them work! I had the shrimp po boy and my wife the oyster po boy. Both were excellent. Bread was nicely toasted and the lettuce crisp. Hush puppies and okra were very good as well. Service was fast, friendly and courteous. We dined in but i would guess it is mostly take out as there are only 4 tables. So if you are looking for ambiance this would not be for you.
