First time trying this place. I usually judge how a thai places pad kee mow is first. It was really good here! We also bought sushi and the rolls are huge, really delicious We will be back to try more!

    Basil Thai Fried Rice

Some coworkers and I came here for lunch. The crowd was light and the place was clean. We were quickly able to put a couple of tables together for our larger group. I've had the Pad Kee Mow to go before and I liked it so it was an easy choice for lunch. This time I had the basil fried rice! It was different from what I used to, but I enjoyed it. I'm used to having a fried egg on top, but this one had the egg inside like a traditional fried rice. The level 2 spicy was more than enough. Their spice levels seem to be a little amped up. The service was pretty good. She was the only waitress there, but she managed the tables well. She was a little sarcastic which didn't fly too well with some of the ladies, but all was well. Overall, we enjoyed our time and the Thai newbies had a great first experience. There were plenty of new things on the menu that I would come back and try.

    Forney Roll

My wife was craving sushi and Thai food, so we decided to give the new restaurant in Forney a try. Unfortunately, this was not what we expected. We ordered pickup, and when we arrived, the restaurant was completely empty, not a single person dining in. That felt a little odd, but the young lady at the counter was very friendly and welcoming, which was a nice start. Food: Mexican Roll (5/10): A shrimp tempura roll that was a letdown. It wasn't rolled properly, and the rice-to-filling ratio was way off. There was so much rice that it drowned out any flavor from the shrimp or other ingredients. It comes with 6 slices. Forney Roll (4/10): Another shrimp tempura roll with the same problem, too much rice, not enough filling, and overall very bland. It felt like eating plain rice with a tiny bit of shrimp inside. This also comes with 6 slices. Pad Kee Mow with Chicken (4/10): This was probably the most disappointing. The flavor was off, almost like they used too much fish sauce. Something about it didn't taste like a proper Pad Kee Mow. The dish also had far more broccoli than chicken, which threw off the balance completely. Overall: I was honestly surprised given the positive reviews online. Our takeout experience was poor, and the food quality just wasn't there. This ended up being one of the most disappointing Thai and sushi meals we've had, especially in Forney.

Hands down the BEST Thai food I've ever had! Every dish I tried hit the spot. Full of flavor and just the right amount of spice. I ordered the red curry and split the pad kee mow. I look forward to coming back and trying more of their menu options.

I had green curry at spice level three which was really not very hot for me. Flavors were really good. All the vegetables seem to be very fresh. My wife had hibachi chicken. She loved the grilled vegetables and the rice. The chicken was a little bit overcooked not burned. The waiter was very nice as a nice little atmosphere for a small place would go back

Greeted with a smile into a modern well decorated dining room. Ordered orange chicken with broccoli and an orange slice. Great flavor and presentation. Followed with mango and sweet sticky rice which was delicious. Highly recommend.

Garlic broccoli + chicken (spice level 3) comes with a side of white rice. I love spice and level 3 was perfect. Service was quick (wait time approximately 10-15 minutes) Food was fresh, hot, and flavorful.

Mariya Thai Kitchen Gosh. We really can't get enough of this place. It's truly becoming a weekly staple. This restaurant is absolutely setting the new standard for flavorful food in Forney. I have zero doubts in about a month or so this place will be reservations only. This place is EXACTLY what's been missing in the food scene around here. The value is insane too...the soup and curry dishes can easily feed two people. The food comes to your table STEAMING hot and fresh. Photos: chicken wrap appetizer, orange chicken, Tom yum noodle combo soup Missing photo: the crab cream cheese rolls that are always devoured within seconds of hitting the table.

This place is a hidden gem for some good, flavorful food. The prices aren't bad either.

The pho was excellent but the portion was not right. Very small. I have been there before but this time was bad.

I started with the garlic edamame, Kani salad, and gyoza. The gyoza are pan fried perfectly! Some places fry them too hard or deep fry them. The kani salad is a mix of shredded cucumber, spicy crab mix with spicy mayo, and roe. I ordered the Angry Dragon roll and the Rockwall roll. The Rockwall roll is sweet with coconut shrimp wrapped, topped with spicy crab mix and coconut sauce. It's delicious! The atmosphere is very nice and intimate. Darker in the dining room with table lamps. You're not looking around the room at everyone, but more focused on just your party. I will definitely be returning to Basil Cafe more often! Can't wait to try more sushi! Thanks again Annika for a great experience!

Overall, the food was solid with a few standout items. The spicy tuna roll was excellent -- fresh, flavorful, and easily the highlight of the meal. The ramen was also quite good and comforting. The hibachi steak, however, was a bit of a surprise. The steak was cooked exactly to the temperature I requested, but it (along with the vegetables) arrived slightly cold, which took away from the experience. The fried rice also lacked a bit of seasoning and could have used a little more flavor. While this wasn't a bad dining experience by any means, I'm still on the search for that standout spot in the area that truly checks all the boxes. That said, there are definitely some dishes here worth coming back for.
